Top Tips
- Arriving at Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) puts you 35-45 mi (56-72 km) from Naples; expect a drive of 40-60 minutes to downtown. Compare rental car or pre-booked shuttle costs—advance reservations can reduce peak season wait times.
- Delnor-Wiggins Pass State Park requires a $6 USD vehicle entry fee for beach and shelling access. Arrive before 10:00 am in peak season, as parking lots often reach capacity by late morning.
- Hurricane season runs June 1-November 30, with highest risk August-October; verify your hotel's cancellation flexibility and generator backup policy. Check property communications for any local evacuation or safety procedures.
- Florida Fish & Wildlife issues red-tide alerts that may affect outdoor plans. Check reports within 7-10 days prior to travel, as red-tide blooms can close beaches or trigger respiratory issues; request a room with enhanced air filtration if sensitive.
- Old Naples (5th Ave S / 3rd St S) offers walkable beach and dining options, ideal for travelers without a car. North Naples and Vanderbilt Beach feature more resort-style hotels but require a vehicle or rideshare for most offsite activities.
- Expect 6% Florida state sales tax plus Collier County local and lodging taxes; total rates may include daily resort and parking fees. Request a full price breakdown from your hotel before booking.
- Downtown Naples parking uses a paid city app system, with high evening demand near the Pier. Accessible spaces may be limited during sunset hours; verify ADA parking options in advance if needed.
- Plan for standard U.S. tipping: 15-20% at sit-down restaurants, plus $15 per service for bell staff, valet, or housekeeping. Carry small bills for faster processing at busy hotels.
- In-room Wi-Fi speeds and quiet-hours policies can vary; request written confirmation from your hotel if remote work is essential. Ask about business center alternatives if you require reliable connectivity.
