All of our meals there were fantastic. We liked the small atmosphere.

I was greeted with a smile. The reception and dining are were out of a book. When u got to my room, I walked in and felt like I was coming home. The vibe, the colors, the sunlight and breeze from all the windows. The young man who was kind to me and spoke English. Eduardo went above and beyond. He was very accommodating and so knowledgeable. Breakfast and a ride were provided to me in the morning.

I didn't want to leave.

Tambor is quiet village on a bay with a gentle sloping beach. Apart from a rather old fashioned resort hotel, there is a bar, a pizza joint, a small supermarket, houses and Cristinas. It is surrounded on three sides by forest. It is a place where you can kick-back, relax and meet local people. It is not overrun with hi-end hippies, yoga parlours and masses of back packers like most of the Nicoya Peninsula. The staff are friendly and very helpful.

Cristina is trying hard to develop this hotel and restaurant. The rooms are small but if you only staying a few days that's not a problem. They have a restaurant. The food sounds good, but it is over priced compared the bar and pizza joint which are 5 minutes walk away. They need to reconsider that.

Air worked well, close to beach, comfy bed. Husband and Teresa were friendly. Room okay clean and good coffee. Christina just boarder line unfriendly. This is our 2nd year in CR with a total of 10 weeks thus far and 2 to go. Not our first rodeo nor do we have unrealistic expectations.

Booked this early (5 months ahead) was given worst room by parking lot where family walked by using loud voices to speak to each other from outside our room up to their house behind. Their dog barked a lot at nights and woke us up. Only one electrical outlet for one option to plug in, light switch is other. At check in no information given that there was a roof top sitting area, outdoor shower. Wifi did not work in [Link Redacted] all. When you went to office/dining area to use wifi a few family members didn’t acknowledge you. Wandering around with phone and cord looking for outlet eventually I was shown one. When I asked if there was space in a fridge for some items I was shown “group cooking ” area that was disgusting! No soap, food left on counter and I only saw family using this space never another tourist. Seeing this stopped us from ordering any dinners here although restaurant kitchen did not appear dirty. It appears they are just going through the motions of serving and don’t really want to be here. Lastly about 4 months before arrival they indicated we’d have to pay half as deposit by going to our bank and deposit it. I thought it was a scam but it was really them. I asked numerous questions and why they didn’t take through [Link Redacted] Poor response time and then nothing. I could not and did not do. They originally indicated my reservation would not remain without deposit, so as precaution I booked another spot, but not nearly as close to the beach. I eventually canceled 2nd booking when my status remained booked. Then about one month ago they indicated wanting half as deposit again, this time using some kind of app. I ignored it. I found these “changes” in booking policy a hassle. I would not stay here again for these reasons. Pictures are of the group kitchen. Not of lobby and not of outside.

Near the beach—-1/4 mile

1. Many roosters “crowing” about 4am. 2. Extremely poor shower & water pressure. 3. Average quality breakfast. 4.Parking in the lot results in a lot of debris & droppings on ur car. 5. Bathroom sinks have been pulled away from the wall— very fragile. 6. No towels/water glasses/toiletries provided in room 7. We had to change rooms twice & left one day early because of poor facilities & attitude of motel Mgmt.

The staff didn’t seem to know we’d got a booking when we arrived. the room was filthy and hadn’t been cleaned,thankfully the sheets were clean and we were tired so we stayed. nobody cleaned any tables at mealtime or at breakfast and we checked out at 9 am one night early, we asked for reimbursement that was refused Dog barking all night on and off and a rooster crowing from 5 am Only cold water

This sweet little place is run by a family that is kind and caring. It is a simple, beautiful and comfortable, next to the beach, store, and transportation needs. An authentic Costa Rican experience.
