Pros +
- The location was ideal for our activities. The breakfast buffet was good and staff were attentive.
- Very nicely located. Direct view of Wartburg from our room.
- Great location, fantastic views of the Wartburg Castle. Great restaurant, nice terrace, bar open all of the time.
Cons -
- The room lacked comfort items, and the split beds are not my preference. The room location felt like a basement.
- A bit of a “GDR 2.0” feeling. Service ok, but not very friendly. Kitchen with food quality as we experienced in the GDR in the early 90s. There were a lot of dead wasps/wasp-type of flies in our room (plus some that were alive). Nothing was done about it despite us informing reception.

we got very cozy (in a kind of old style, which we liked a lot) room with a good bed
Comfortable bed. Nice view of Wartburg Castle. Food in the restaurant was good, as was the service. Parking is really convenient.
The rooms are a bit spartan. No water/tea/coffee. Basic bathroom, small shower, not much power (likley as I was located on the top floor). Wine selection in the restaurant was limited.
The place is beautiful! Old and charming and with a lovely view of the castle. It is great they take guests with their dogs. The restaurant is spacious and the breakfast room beautiful.
The old charm comes with creaking floors and the room was quite tight. Seems the hotel is more used to German guests, the communication is quite stifled if you do not speak the language.
Location was fantastic with a beautiful view of the castle from the room.
The room was quite small but not a problem for us
Great views from the room, easy parking, good quality breakfast.
The room was ridiculously small and packed with oversized furniture, there was barely room to stand.
Location was great, beautiful place inside and outside.
The windows and curtains were dirty. The shower drain was clogged, causing water to stand ankle-deep. The lighting was very poor, almost blinding. There wasn't any information about the Wi-Fi. The breakfast was very poor, with very few options for vegetarians. The room was also very hot, as it didn't have air conditioning. The staff was very unfriendly to foreigners. Additionally, there was an extra tax to pay, which was not mentioned in advance. I don't recommend it at all.

Quaint hotel in the surrounding hills of Eisenach.Lovely brekkie, courteous English speaking staff, spotless room.A (hilly) walking distance from center.
Really nice and big room. Lovely view. Good breakfast.
amazing location, very calm, and good breakfast
Amazing placeSuper nice staffGreat view on Wartburg castleGood breakfast
- Peaceful location- Proximity to Wartburg and hiking trails- Easy parking
- Staff at reception were neither particularly friendly nor welcoming- Very noisy until after midnight
Nice and friendly personal. Clean rooms
Breakfast could be better with more choices
This converted music school makes for a wonderful hotel experience. The staff were helpful and polite. The hotel grounds were gorgeous as was the building. The hotel sits at the top of a hill with beautiful views, but a fairly narrow, winding road for access. You should be okay with some cautious driving. We could see Wartburg castle clearly from our bedroom window. The hotel breakfast was typical for what we saw in Germany. The buffet included coffee, fruit, juice, deli meat, rolls, etcetera. Bacon appeared to be by request only. The breakfast room overlooks a forest, and has a clear view of Wartburg castle in the huge windows. If the weather allows, the breakfast room also has a large patio. The building has a lot of stairs. The front door has a set, as does the breakfast area, half the rooms, as well as the ballrooms. My wife and I were fine dragging luggage, but this is something to remember. The Americans with Disabilities Act does not apply to 100+ year old German historic buildings. If we go to Eisenach again, this hotel is top on our list.
The road getting to the mountain where Haus Hainstein sits is narrow with many switchbacks. You will need to drive at a reasonable speed to get there safely.
Location, friendly staff on late arrival.
No airconditioning
The location is really nice, the view on the Wartburg great. Very good the breakfast and the food at the restaurant. Nice old-house charm.
The bathroom has no light but a sensor, that turns the light on automatically also when not needed. The bar area is small and the chairs are so uncomfortable that you don’t want to stay long. Too bad, as there is nowhere else to go in the neighborhood. Some staff member were a bit unfriendly with non German customers.
We loved the hills, the woods and the remoteness of the hotel- I suppose whatever room you can take you will have a good sleep. Also a very good german cuisine.
Well, it is not affecting the overall rating of the hotel, however something was not ok. It happen that after having a dinner in the Haus Hainstain restaurant (very tasty) one of is was dead sick all the day after, not able to move and eat anything that day. It is kind of strange as everything was tasty and smelling good, maybe that was a combination of a heavy gravy and unfiltered bear, however the fact was extremely unpleasant and spoiling totally our stay in Eisenach.
