The room was valued for the money

Rude receptionist, no parking available due to an event I wasn't informed of when booking. Booked two rooms, they weren't next to each other or even on the same floor. This was my third visit, the first two were fine.

Great exeperience with lovely staff ambience & location.

We wanted to watch netflix in television using smart view mirror in our phone but could not watch due to not facilities in television.

The location was nice, but the hotel did not live up to the expectations. We were in room 27 on the second floor and it was really disappointing.

The welcome as we came into the hotel was disgusting, basically being shouted at for using the wrong car registration machine. Receptionist very brash, definitely shouldn’t be on the front desk.Room was freezing cold and heavy condensation on all windows and it didn’t clear, and when I complained at reception I was told ( by mentioned receptionist)”well the heating should have come on.” and it clearly wasn’t on or we wouldn’t have complained. There was also a crack in one of the windows. Black mould around the wood frame of the window. Mould around sealant in shower, tears in valance sheet on bed.No headboard on bed, just tongue and groove and bed was not comfortable- dipped in the middle and creaky.Breakfast very basic and not hot. Chairs in dining area very rickety, these were changed to sturdier chairs today.Disabled toilet completely out of action all the three days we were there, which didn’t affect us but would affect others.Felt we couldn’t complain at reception as the staff weren’t very approachable.

Location of the property was good, only c4miles from Bath central.

The rooms were cold, heating was not on throughout the night which was cold and uncomfortable. Front desk staff were not welcoming, condescending on arrival. Showers had no pressure and with the cold rooms made for an unpleasant stay. Hotel is dated and could do with a modernisation. Breakfast was a buffet and was a 4/10. I wasn’t asked how my stay was on check out, I would have given my feedback if asked, as if they knew not to ask. I stayed in room 34 which (standard double) had to ask to be moved after first night as was too cold, I had been accommodated. I booked a standard twin with view and executive room as we travelled with my in-laws and needed three rooms for our family. My concern was for the elders who were on this trip with me, they had no heating throughout most their stay, felt cold a lot of the time. Only found out there was a vegetarian option by overhearing another party at breakfast. The breakfast staff were friendly and helpful.

Appreciate a later finish for breakfast when on holiday. Shower was challenging to use as.kept going to boiling. Plugs closer to the bed

Nice historical building with a lot of character. Rooms are small yet cozy and comfortable. Ok for a night or two.

Staff not so welcoming so first impression not great. No network anywhere in the building and WiFi not good either so you get cut off from the world. Banquet was busy on weekdays too due to which finding parking was a challenge. Reserved parking for hotel guests would have been helpful. Breakfast very average and served until 9.15 am, kind of early especially if you are on holiday. Water pressure in the shower was low and not impressive at all. As a Best Western 3* hotel should have been better!

It’s not suitable if you don’t have your own car because it’s not easy to reach in walking and the road to the hotel is little bit dangerous in terms of of cars accidents

Stayed in Room 22 - bed was comfortable room temperature was fine. Lights didn’t work properly.Common parts of the hotel (lobby, corridors, etc were very draughty - to the point of uncomfortable

I booked a room with a view but, I’m not a pervert all I could see on my right was directly into the bedrooms !!!, and it was embarrassing to look out of the window, we had a evening meal and we commented on the burgers as they were hard to be told that’s how they are, we had breakfast and it was very poor, no pastries only 2 yogurts no fresh fruit and limited warm food, and to add insult only 1 choice of cheap packet Coffee,Totally Disappointed ☹️

The location was a bit to far for my liking to get to Bath.

Staff were excellent all round. Bar & Lounge was great with good selection and the fireplace was tops. Location was exquisite.

Bed was awful and needs replacing. Springs sticking in every part of our bodies and sloping off to the edges. Food was underwhelming for the price. Heater in room was boiling and thermostat didn't seem to work as was unable to lower radiation.

The exterior of the hotel is beautiful, it's a lovely building

The hotel is in an old building, which means there are going to be issues. But I wasn't prepared for quite how many issues there would be. The main one was that the door to our room had probably a 2 inch gap underneath it, meaning soundproofing was non-existent. Not exactly ideal for Valentine's Day... Similarly the walls were paper thin, you could hear everything that was going on in all the rooms. Next, the radiator was broken. The room was absolutely boiling on arrival, and I had to call a member of staff to come and turn it off with a pair of pliers since the knob was broken. Given he showed up with pliers in hand, I suspect the hotel was already aware of the problem. I asked if I would have to call him any time I wanted to adjust the radiator, and he said yes with a smile. I don't think it's acceptable for hotel guests to have to call maintenance every time they want to do something as simple as turning a radiator on and off. The shower had a hot and a cold tap, but getting the temperature right was borderline impossible since turning the cold tap further than a couple of millimetres would cause the hot tap to suddenly stop functioning and the shower head to produce freezing cold water.The cleanliness of the room wasn't a massive issue, but I did find a small wad of toilet paper wedged between the toilet seat and the lid. We initially booked to have breakfast at the hotel, but later cancelled when we found out that service stopped at 9:45. Call me lazy if you like, but that's earlier than I would've liked to get up on Valentine's Day. For £15pp, it wasn't super cheap either, and I kind of thought it would've been included in the room given I paid £153 to stay there.Overall, I don't feel that the hotel justified its price one bit. It's a beautiful building in a nice location, but it was quite unpleasant to actually stay in, even for just a night.

The location was nice and made a nice setting. Comfy bed, clean room. Lots of parking. Nice local pub at bottom of the drive way too.

The shower water pressure was the worse I have ever encountered and I have traveled to many countries. Decor is dated but thats ok with the feel of the era of the hotel.

Great location, the views of the canal are lovely. breakfast was standard ( plenty of option) but unfortunately not very warm.

The bed was small - not actually a double it was a 3 quarter, mattress was so bad i couldn’t sleep as the springs dig into your side and hurt your leg. The room was very very small and very basic every time another room used the toilet, sink or bath it would cause our plumbing to make really loud noises that would bellow through our bath plug and sink plug. Very annoying hardly slept. Such a shame as we wouldn’t not stay again solely down to the bed and the noises =( … mentioned it to a staff member in check out and she couldn’t of cared less

Breakfast OK - should be better - natural yoghurt, don't water the fruit juice, bacon a bit tired

The room was warm and comfortable.Breakfast - ample and acceptable.Location - For our break it was excellent, having stayed previously.

The room was way too hot, the public rooms very unappealing and only the bar menu was available in the restaurant. Breakfast was fairly poor with almost undrinkable coffee and DIY tea with flasks of hot water

Beautiful building great location, good parking, nice bar.

Room was OK but the bathroom was very dated. Who has still two taps in a sink and shower??? Window was difficult to open, very stiff.

The room was comfortable, quiet and clean with good WiFi and TV. Staff were courteous and helpful. The bar was comfortable with a good selection of beers on tap and a passable house red.

Dinner was distinctly average and overpriced for what was served. I've had better chicken curries out of a tin. It was a shame that the nearby Hop Pole Inn was closed on Mondays. Breakfast was OK but served in a room so drab and unwelcoming as to make it a less than happy experience. It had all the ambience of a rather down at heel retirement home.
