Berkeley City Club Hotel

I love the design and architecture of the Berkeley City Club. It feels old and secure. The bar and restaurant are excellent and easy to access. The seimming pool is beautiful.

Beautiful inside, charming, historic.

There is no AC in the rooms and no mention of when booking. The windows only open so much to let air in and when you do you can't sleep because of the noise outside. I finally called the front desk and they let me know there was a fan in the closet.

This hotel is a historic landmark by a famous female architect. Hotel is full of architecture significance and is well preserved. I was pleasantly surprised. Staff is also amazing.

This hotel is a little old fashion with older building accommodation. There is no TV inside my room. It is a little noise that I can hear the neighbor. It still used key. Otherwise, all other, the tub, the bathroom, the bed and the bedding are good.

History and architecture.

5yr anniversary trip. given rm 301 (same for401,501,601) which is adjacent 2&behind the elevator shafts. Little sleep; kept awake by droning wall rattling motors, chatter of passengers &loud banging thud @each stop unti after 12am then promptly awoken@4am

A Beautiful amazing castle Julia Morgan architecture!! Magical time travel ! 1920s arcs.. tiles.. gardens.. art deco pool .. grande pianos .. mysterious and grande and so much fun!!!

Very dated rooms.. no tv .. sinks leaky ..6 th floor has kitchen smell.. needs better chairs and tables ..

Very interesting iconic property. Friendly staff. Rooms comfortable and clean but not all modern amenities (no TV in my room, for example). I would stay again.

Vintage hotel with excellent dining. Great to work from home as they is plenty of spots to comfortable work especially I like the patio.

The room was on the small side, but still more than adequate, the complimentary breakfast was the best I've experienced, and the location was perfect.

Having to pay for parking; felt like a bit of a ripoff.

Didn’t realize that the hotel was designed by Julia Morgan! What a wonderful opportunity to explore this historic building with its many common areas, including library, ballroom, theater, and indoor swimming pool.

I love the design of the building, the history, the details a m d integrated gardens. The location is good for me too.

The hotel is near lots of restaurants geared towards students. It’s about a 20 minute walk to campus depending which building you need to go. The architecture is beautiful with lots of sitting areas for hotel guests to enjoy. The breakfast fare was quiche, breads, pastries, cold cuts, yoplait yogurt and Quaker oats which was fine. The room is compact but comfortable. The restaurant’s urban buffet was surprisingly good and priced well (relative to the room rate).

There are lots of events on site for the public and members. It’s not as quiet as you’d think but they are well organized. The breakfast wasn’t what I expected but the dining room was comfortable. Shower takes a couple minutes to warm up.

Incredible building. It's a social club of sorts, and the courtyard, pool, restaurants, libraries were all stunning. We decided to stay on the day of the checkout and had a productive day and a great dinner inside. VERY friendly and helpful 24hr staff.

The rooms were a bit dated, and small. The heater wasn't able to turn off with a broken switch and made a ticking sound all night, but the staff gave us a small discount to rectify this the next day.A big minus is parking is paid - even as a guest. It's something like 28 dollars overnight. We ended up parking in the streets but had to fill the meter (via app) every two hours during business hours. Outside of Vegas, I've never had to pay for parking at a hotel. Very unusual.

I love the architecture of this facility. I really like the pool. In general I like the breakfast - mainly the coffee and the croissants and the sliced fruit when it was available, but also the hard boiled eggs and mini quiches. The person who manages the breakfast is very impressive. The bed was very comfortable. The extra bonus was having the band come marching in on Friday morning for what I assume was a rally for the Cal game against Stanford. That little reading room on the first floor looked very nice, although didn't use it. The ice water with orange slices on the first floor was a nice touch, as was having coffee available even though I didn't have any, other than the two cups I drank at breakfast. I really liked the view out of the windows. (My room faced the Bay.)

Not having the sliced fruit at breakfast every day (pineapple, cantaloupe, honeydew). It would be nice if there were some link sausages. I don't know if using a heater in the room is ever necessary, but when I first checked in, I did attempt to use the portable plug-in radiator; and I think it caused one or both lamps' lights to turn off. In other words maybe that radiator will overload the system (?). As it turned out, I was fine with the slightly cool room temperature. The lighting in my room was inadequate to read with, sitting in the chair.
