Seehotel Maria Laach

It was actually the cheapest location for a spontaneous racing weekend near the Nordschleife. Amazing hotel, nice staff and very good food. Rooms are clean, beds are comfy. I'll definitely be back.

The room was very nice.

Soap didn’t work in the shower, couldn’t turn off the light in the bathroom and worst of all was the check-in. The gentleman working behind the desk kept us waiting for over 30 minutes when we were only interested in sleeping. He didn’t speak any English, but he was also panicked and ended up shouting at us. Would not recommend for anyone looking for a restful stay - this ruined our experience.

Very nice hotel (old building) with big room and in quite area. Near the A61 so also perfect to stay just the night.

ROOMThe room we stayed in was large, chic and included an amazing and comfy bed. The bathroom was big and included an excellent shower. FOODAlthough we did not have breakfast, we did dine in the restaurant on the evening time. The location, on the veranda was superb, with great views down to the lake. The waiting staff were very helpful and pleasant. The menu was limited but all the food we had was presented and delivered to a good quality.LOCATIONThe hotel is just next to the monastery and the parking is just across from the hotel in a discrete barrier controlled car park (we initially parked in the public parking the other side of the road as we did not know this). Access to the car park is via room card, so I would recommend you pull up outside the hotel, off load your luggage and check in. Then you will be able to park your car. My wife loves wild swimming and the location by the lake was great, although you need to go a couple of Kms up the road to the campsite to be able to swim.

Our only negative about the Seehotel Maria Laach, was the lack of air-conditioning. We were visiting in August and the temperature in the room at night was too hot. There is a ventilation unit and control switch, but this did not seem to produce any air movement at all. We opened the windows, but as the location is a country forest and lake environment, there were plenty of mosquitoes and similar insects wanting to bite. Ultimately, I had a very poor nights sleep and woke up with a few insect bites as well. As we stopped here on our drive from Holland to the Alsace, it was a perfect location just off the autobahn to break the journey. We wanted to stop here on the way back but were ultimately put off by the lack of effective and cooling ventilation. I would recommend supplying fans in the room (or upon request) for guests to use if you are not going to upgrade the ventilation system. If this was rectified we would come back all the time!

Location and everything around is stunning, absolutely a great place for a weekend runaway to the nature.

My room was clearly not 20 square meters as promised, but a little tiny dark corner (room 308), we arrived late at night at receptionist seemed to not be responsible for any decisions.

At night the room temperature at the lowest setting was too warm. I needed to open a window.

Beautifully designed, spotlessly clean.

It took me 1 hour and 45 mins to be served a soup and a main course. The dining room is grossly understaffed. The receptionist was serving in the dining room to help out. I asked a waiter about one of the desserts when he brought the menu, he replied: “I do the bar, I don’t know about deserts” Lastly, there were no coffee cups beside the coffee machine or anywhere.

The location near the abbey is quite unique. The rooms are modern with a nespresso machine, a small fridge stocked with complimentary biers, water and cola, and the breakfast, in my opinion, is excellent. While they don't have a gym at the hotel, they do a peloton bike with a subscription that you can have delivered to your room for a workout. That's a great idea, especially when the weather is cold, dark and rainy.

Breakfast was superb, room clean and comfortable.

There was no swimming pool, gym or wellness suit.

Decent size room, recently refurbished. Nice bathroom with spacious shower. Large open public areas and a terrace cafe area with views of the lake in the distance.

Price of breakfast €18 eachRoom was large but a bit spartan, wood laminate flooring and no rugs or carpets. Pod coffee machine, no kettle, so no possibility of tea in the room. Good job we took our own water heater.However I have noticed thst since the lockdown, many hotels have reduced soft furnishings.

The views were amazing and the grounds and surrounding area was definitely worth exploring. The staff was always very friendly and accommodating for my needs.

Very polite, friendly, efficient and helpful staff at reception. Excellently clean and well-appointed room, with beautiful location, as expected from previous visits to this site. Wonderful evening meal: full compliments to chef and staff.

I would have preferred more personal control over the bathroom light in my room, so that I could have switched it on and off as needed, rather than have it automatically timed.

Easy check-in, convenient car park, location well-signposted. Lovely modern room and bathroom. Outstanding breakfast buffet. A fabulous way of enjoying a long, relaxing weekend in the countryside.

We were slightly disappointed by the restaurant as we had been looking forward to enjoying local fish. The menu features classic dishes with good-quality ingredients, but the execution was a little bumpy. We found and enjoyed some nice regional items on the wine list.
