Diamond Island Resort, Restaurant & Bar and Penguin Show

The location is amazing - you can see the ocean from the balcony and hear it at night! The rooms had a luxurious size and the facilities inside the room were great, too (eg separate toilet from bathroom, balcony and alfresco area, free laundry, etc).Staff exceptionally nice.

The road going down to the individual apartments was very bumpy and full of potholes making it dangerous to walk - one of our group did indeed fall and got a bleeding knee by falling at dusk due to one of the potholes.

The location is absolutely stunning. I thoroughly enjoyed the penguin tour, which was a lovely experience. Despite the age of the buildings, the rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff were exceptional and truly made the stay even more enjoyable. My kids absolutely loved being surrounded by the bunnies, it was such a special experience for them.

You can not beat location. The property could use many upgrade and facelift but the room is old but spacious and basically adequate. We saw 6 penguins coming up after dark as promised. There are wallabies in the bush near the beach as well. Sitting out in the balcony is also nice. You can also walk to the beach to check out where the penguins will come shore.

Facility and room need upgrade. No breakfast. Dinner here is supposed to be quite slow. We ate in town before we arrived. We heard other people were told they had to come back in an hour to eat there.

Free penguin tour and beautiful location. Korean dishes in the restaurant were very nice and spicy.

The location was great, so close to the beach. The penguin experience was a bonus and we were able to see other wildlife on the property also. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and it was good to have the use of a communal laundry also. The food at the restaurant was very good.

The kitchen had barely enough cutlery or utensils. There could have been more things provided in the kitchen to make it easier to prepare and eat our own meals. There was only one small bedside lamp, not one on each side of the bed. When we turned the room lights on, it was very bright and all the lights turned on at the same time. We couldn't just light up one part of the unit, or dim the lights for one person to sleep while the other read a book or watched tv. But these were minor issues compared to the many good points about the property.

Very unique location close to the beach with the possibility to see penguins. Room was fine aswell!

We were five people, so the sleeping couch that one of us had to sleep in was rock hard and not very pleasent.

Loved the penguin show every evening. There were lots of penguins sighted. The guide was helpful and informative.Very nice facilities, swimming pool, pool table, nice backyard with rabbits and birds, beach access etc.

Weak wifi. Almost non-existence in the room. Had to rely on my own mobile dataThe room was very cold, even with the heater onBeetles were able to enter the room and we found quite a number every morningI think staff can do more to educate people on what not to do with the penguins. Some families were shining their own torches at the penguins before the main group reached the viewing deck.Staff gave torches to kids but the kids were not using the red light torches correctly. Will be better if adults were given the red light torches so they can shine at the penguins.

Location is fabulous. Parts of our room offered a stunning view (upstairs). Adorable penguins are on your doorstep. Lovely to see kangaroos and wallabies so close. Bathroom (apart from shower) was really lovely.

Cleanliness - we couldn't use our balcony as it had animal poo scattered on it - both on the floor and items on the deck - eg air con unit. It appeared not to have been cleaned for a while as the table top was dirty, and the two heavy wooden chairs were in disarray. We all had to sleep upstairs, as downstairs was a fish bowl with people walking around. One blind was broken so you had limited privacy in the kitchen and lounge area (the downstairs part of the unit). The area around the kitchen bin needed a clean. The entrance to the small shower cubicle was narrow, which gave the shower a closed in feel.

Fabulous location. Penguins and the view. Our room was large, very comfortable, nice outdoor seating area.

It had such character and atmosphere. Beautiful reception, dining area and large grounds to walk around. Lots of wildlife from rabbits to penguins. A great experience to see the penguins coming in to the property of a night time. Beautiful beach location easy for walks and exploring the area.

It was a bit out of town so you had to get into your car to drive in.

The beds were huge and really comfy. We got the best room with two decks & views & really close to the penguins. Friendly owners.

Amazing spot right on the beach! Staff were so friendly and helpful!! The accommodation wasn't overly fancy but it suited being on the beach and the area and a lovely view of the beach.We decided not to pay for a penguin tour due to their being fewer penguins around at the time but the resort offered a free walk down to where they come in up from the beach and we were able to follow 2 penguins up the grass in the resort area. This was a highlight for the kids.

The 2 bedrooms were upstairs and the stairs were steep. If travelling with younger kids or elderly people I would contact the resort before booking.

Our room was lovely with a massive bed which was very comfortable.The rooms open up onto a massive grassed area that has bbq area in the middle. Seeing the little penguins of a night was definitely a highlight, I can't imagine you would ever get sick of seeing them. There was a short walk from our room to a private beach area with beautiful white sand and clear water. I wish I had of brought my children here to stay when they were younger.

I must admit when you drive in it looks quite underwhelming. But when you get in there it is gorgeous.

Will be just lovely when the new owners complete all upgrades.

Exceptional views.

Although the property was almost fully booked there was planty of space and uninterrupted views. Great access to the beach except for dusk when it is penguin viewing time.

Restaurant not open due to maintenance. Hopefully reopens soon.

The beach access was right outside our door. We loved hearing the ocean and the view from our verandah. The rooms were a good size and the bed very comfortable.

The rooms were a little dated, but I am sure the new owners have plans. The kitchen needs a few more plates and utensils.

Very disappointed at this accommodation. Poor configuration with bedrooms upstairs and bathroom downstairs. Very steep narrow stairs which would be quite hazardous at night if you need the bathroom.Chose to sleep downstairs on very uncomfortable (smelly)fold-out bed for this reason.No bedside tables or lamps in bedrooms. No lamp in living room. Very harsh lighting.Advertises there is a penguin show which there is of sorts. A staff member shows you the penguins ( if any appear) in the garden.Professional penguin show operates next door.Restaurant was closed for renovation which happens but on Monday night there was not much open in town to get dinner and cooking facilities in room miminal. On our driving trip of Tassie this was the worst accommodation for near the highest cost.
