The hotel is located directly on the beach ocean front, and mid-town, so obviously that's a plus. We interacted with four front desk staff, two housekeeping staff and two maintenance staff. They were all professional, polite, and helpful. There are plenty of shops and restaurants within walking distance, and guests have the ability to use the bayside sister property's (Aloft) amenities (pool table, indoor/outdoor pool, tiki bar). There is a small outdoor pool between buildings and the pool area was tidy and clean. We enjoyed the convenience of the retro refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker. This is not a luxury or chain hotel, so set your expectations for a pleasant stay.
When we first checked in we noticed that one of the beds had sand in it, and obviously hadn't been changed since the last guest. We notified the staff and someone came up immediately and changed the bed, which we appreciated. Overall the room seemed clean, but there were some areas that have been neglected and I had to clean myself. The phone in the room was grimy and dusty, the toilet bowl under the rim was filthy, and the A/C vents in Room 509 need to be cleaned. Maybe the rooms will receive a deep-clean during the off season. The height adjustment of the "disabled accessible" contemporary shower head is awkward and the handle shoots water out like a kitchen sink sprayer.Areas for improvement: the back entry way to the hotel has a peculiar, unpleasant odor (there's no vestibule there, so it may be due to wet carpet in that area), have multiple ice machines for accessibility (there is only one ice machine for the entire building located in the lobby). Three years ago, the property provided vouchers for beach chairs and umbrellas. That has now changed to a "discount" to rent these items. We were told that because of high wind conditions umbrellas were not able to be rented and the stand was closed. We understood about the umbrellas, but there was absolutely no reason for chairs to be unavailable. This greatly impacted our convenience and comfort on the beach, as we didn't bring our own chairs for the very reason the hotel stated they would be available. In addition, the property now charges $20/day for PARKING. It's absolutely ridiculous and greedy that a hotel property would charge a parking fee for guests paying to stay there.

The location was great and it could be a good hotel but staff doesn’t do a great job maintaining anything.
Roach in our room, have to repeatedly ask for your room to be cleaned and even then they don’t vacuum. The pool would be chained closed with no explanation. The ceiling in our bathroom was leaking on us while we showered and all they did was rip the piece of ceiling off and leave it. The fridge stopped working and all our food and drinks went bad. You pay extra for ocean view and it’s not what you think it is at all. The tv is reliant on WiFi and it barely worked. A lot of the time we’d get a “WiFi isn’t working error” or it would be a black screen with just the audio of whatever you were trying to watch.

Great location with beautiful view. Loved being able to have my dog there. Rooms were nice and clean. Staff was nice.
Would be nice to have a toaster in the room. Also needs some extra towels, wash cloths, and toilet paper in room.

Welcoming and helpful staff. Clean, newly renovated room and facility. Indoor pool available at sister hotel 2 blocks away. Convenient parking. 30 steps to the beach. Great for kids and grandmas!
There was no caffeinated coffee available for in-room coffee maker until we asked.

Location, Rooms where nice, big and clean. The lobby was stocked with some essentials. Plenty parking. Great location. Nice beach access. Large grass area for the pets. We were even able to check-in hours early. Very accommodating.
The bathroom was a little small, but it was nice and clean. This is not a complaint. It was fine... just a bit small. We were only there for one night, but I have no complaints!
