Proximity to ocean, views

The room contained a wood-burning fireplace. The base was raised approximately 2-3 inches off the floor. Both my daughter and I tripped over it, a safety hazard. Also, the location is very remote, with very few dining options.

Location...they gave us a 10 dollar bottle of champagne which we couldn't drink.

Rooms are old. Key cards did not work 3 times so family had to wait outside till I walked back to the office. Binoculars were broken when we arrived.

The Cavalier was great!! We’ll definitely be returning. The grounds were gorgeous and everything inside and outside was pristine. Beds were very comfortable and layout was perfect with a nice coffee area near the sink. It was truly one of the best rooms!

Nothing major! It would have been really nice if the hot tolub was open a little later; it closed at 9pm.

The view was beautiful from most rooms. If your room wasn't along the ocean, there was walking paths to view the beach.

Restaurant wasn't the best for what the hotel offers. With the location and views, I had higher expectations for the food quality.

Rooms are very dated and smelled of smoke. We were forced to keep our doors closed due to smoke billowing from a room next to us, which made the room stuffy. Also, someone entered our room while we were sleeping.

The location, beachfront and activities they had set up for use were all great.

No AC, no screen on the patio door. The fireplace was extremely smokey.

Closeness to landmarks

I paid for a room with an unobstructed view to the ocean but instead got a room that barely showed the ocean and mostly showed trees (room 271).

Pet friendly - so the carpets had a very musty smell. Our room had many and more small ants that patrolled the entire room - including the inside of the coffee maker - so don’t leave food out.

You are a 3.5 star hotel made into a doggie hotel then please make sure they stay in downstairs rooms!! It is not fair to the rest of the guests to be woken up at 5am by dogs running on your ceiling!! Quiet time is 10pm - 8 am, the manager said

The room had very old carpet and furniture. It smelled really bad in the room.

Broken front door, no screen door leading out to the balcony, and needed a good deep cleaning

The hotel provided champagne and party goods for fun New Year?s Eve. We gathered around the fire outside and visited others that has stayed there too. Was a lovely evening. The food was wonderful And Hearst Castle was enchanting

The only nice thing about this place is the oceanfront

It was overpriced will not be staying here again. Also they should offer something for special event like birthdays.

Professional staff, great views, cleanliness of rooms and entire resort!

Our room was in total disrepair, the drapes had holes in them, the upholstered chairs were worn out, the carpet was filthy (we washed our feet after walking on the carpet, the washcloth was black), the fireplace screen was clogged with ash...

Our room smelled a little musty when we first arrived, but it was minor in comparison to the good times we had.

It?s very dated, but it was an overall great experience.

A good location for visiting the Hearst castle. Location near the water.

Rooms are smelly and outdated. Not really clean rooms. Staff answered a bit rude to questions of mine.
