Embassy Suites by Hilton Walnut Creek

The staff were very friendly and helpful during our stay. The location was convenient, and the breakfast was decent overall. I have stayed here several times in the past and previously had good experiences.

The room did not feel clean or well maintained, we found a used shaver in the bathroom, chips along the walls, worn furniture, and mold in the shower caulking, and there was no shower gel provided. Our neighbor’s door slammed so loudly that it rattled our room each time it closed, and my kids and I didn’t get much sleep the first night because of the constant noise. At breakfast, my son found a hair in his fruit and the coffee tasted like the dispenser needed cleaning.

After driving nine hours from Bend, Oregon, all I wanted was a shower. I stepped in, turned on the water, and discovered the shampoo and conditioner bottles were completely empty. I had to get dressed and call the front desk, where instead of an apology, I was told I “should have asked for a replacement.” I’m not sure how I was expected to do that while standing in the shower with water running.Check-in was also frustrating. The receptionist was very difficult to understand and made no effort to clarify or rephrase, even after I politely explained that I am not a native English speaker.We also had been charged for parking, yet when we left for dinner and returned, the parking lot was full and there was no space available. Charging guests for parking without guaranteeing availability is unreasonable.I later spoke with the assistant manager, who apologized and said, as Hilton members, we would be compensated with points. That has not happened. When a hotel makes a promise, it should follow through.This stay fell far below Hilton standards and basic hospitality expectations.
