The Upham Hotel

Beautiful grounds.

Had been here twice before and they always had excellent continental breakfast. This trip only muffins and tea or coffee. Also wine and cheese in the evening was not great. There was no cheese just cheap little dry cheese crisps.

I loved the old fashioned feel of the hotel. A cozy fireplace, beautiful paintings and a great restaurant on sight, made the stay perfect. The service was excellent as well. I will definitely stay here again!

Since we got one of the last rooms available, our room was smaller and with a queen bed. But, we were able to spend time relaxing in the lovely garden and lobby areas. The staff are very friendly and attentive.

The hotel parking does fill up. You therefore have to park on the street which has limited daytime hours.

They do not have enough parking for the number of rooms they have. They do not enforce restaurant customers using the lot that clearly says, "hotel customers only." The desk staff also doesn't seem to care at all about the inconvenience.

Great classic hotel in walking distance from downtown. Staff is over the top friendly. Room was large and hotel was quiet.

This vintage hotel was charming, clean and centrally located to activities in Santa Barbara's downtown area. The complimentary breakfasts were well prepared with a variety of items. Complimentary parking was in an area where your car was safe. Good value.

Location is good and the garden is nice

Walls are thin so you can easily be woken by others in the morning. The bathroom in our room was in need of renovation (water pressure in the shower was pretty poor)

The champagne hour and continental breakfast provided reasonable length of time.

The room they put is in was above house keeping and without a view. It was too noisy.

tastefully decorated rooms, elegant and comfortable

when I checked out on a Sunday morning, one of the younger women at reception didn't even ask me how my stay was, she simply confirmed payment issues. Her training should include asking the guest at a B&B about their stay, smiling and thanking the guest.

The location was absolutely perfect. We were 2 blocks from State Street. It was very convenient. Also, the location of the hotel makes it very queit. We enjoyed this.

Front desk person was a bit of a grouch. The rooms are old and need a bit sprucing up especially the bathroom. The room has a bit of a musty old smell. Also, the furniture in our room was a bit ackward and too big and took up space.

Loved the history of this place, very quaint, gardens were beautiful and the light breakfast was nice. The room was comfortable and liked the robes. Nicely furnished.

We had 2 rooms, it was hard to find in the dark, staff should walk guests there, as the map was super confusing. One room (suite) smelled very damp the entire time we were there. Parking could be tricky at times.

It was right across the street from my son’s residence! It was clean & very comfortable.

The property is beautiful and well maintained. Lovely outdoor green spaces and close to shops and dining. I like the layout of cottages that make up the property.

The room was slightly outdated, but the bed was very comfortable.

No Breakfast served. Restaurant not open for dinner.

Cleanliness, mold in the shower. A/C not working and it was exceptionally hot in Santa Barbara during our stay. We were not told we were upstairs and had Seniors in the group who had to carry luggage up steep stairs. Overrated for price. Disappointed.

Walking distance (about 1 mile) from train station to the hotel, along State Street which is a shopping street!

Breakfast pastries were dry.
