The chairs in breakfast room was Filthy, It seems like never clean before.

Breakfast was amazing. Staff were great, even warning us to wrap up warm to walk to the gym. Lovely view from breakfast.

Amazing breakfast, with lots of gourmet options and delightful views over the countryside from the breakfast room. Bedroom was great with comfortable bed and lots of hot running water (not always the case in old buildings!). The staff could not have been more helpful at every stage. When we checked in before heading off to a Christmas party (laden down with hastily wrapped presents), the receptionist volunteered to look after the gifts for us while we went to our room to change; upon returning, we were touched to see that she had tied the ribbons on the gift bags into beautiful bows for us. Later that night, returning late and feeling hungry, despite the bar being closed and food service ended, they arranged for a member of staff to open the bar for us and to source some delicious (off-menu) club sandwiches. Service during breakfast was also exceptional

Well kept country house with a charming main hall, restaurant and bar. The rooms were delightfully old fashioned but well kept and very comfortable. The restaurant was delicious (the mash potatoe is excellent!). The spa and pool were very relaxing (separate building).

Limited outdoor formal gardens to explore.

Lovely historic hotel a great location for travel to or from France by car. Friendly, charming staff, pet, friendly, and beautiful rooms, great staff and very friendly.

The restaurant needs to be less institutional, and everything needs to be taste better and to welcome people into the hotel restaurant.

It’s a charming hotel. The staff at the front desk are fantastic and the spa was exceptional - high-quality and services. Pet friendly and near most of the fairies or the Eurotunnel so if you’re traveling from France, it’s a great place to stop over elegant, restful and charming.!

I found the breakfast staff a little less welcoming… and the food rather institutional not tasty.

Excellent staff. Great balance between formality and friendliness. Excellent service. Food was fantastic. Views and ambience wonderfully relaxing.

The walk around the grounds

Views were amazing. Very quiet grounds, rustic and building was beautiful

The floor need repair. We stayed on the third floor. It felt like some of the board were loose and need screwing back down. This was evident at night when going to the bathroom and the floor was squeaking very badly

Great location, hotel, staff and service, rooms were nice comfortable and well appointed The Spa was a bit out of keeping and functional. But perhaps that's just personal. Certainly did not ruin a nice stay.

Absolutely beautiful hotel, great food, stunning views, but what impressed us the most is how welcoming, friendly and accommodating the staff were! We loved our stay! They went out of the way to make it special (it was a birthday weekend away) and honestly could not rate them more highly. Bravo!

Historical interest, cosy atmosphere, restaurant food.

The manner in which the management dealt with a serious incident was unprofessional and lacking empathy. The room allocated was not very accessible, was dingy and uninspiring - needs an upgrade.

The building and views were amazing. The breakfast was exceptional!

Room smelt slightly and the bath around the edges wasn't very clean. The sink area was extremely small too. But the room was still lovely just needed a little more tlc..

Unique and beautiful. Fantastic property with great views and fabulous food. The staff was excellent and went out of their way to take care of everything I needed during my stay.

I ordered the Caramelised maple syrup banana waffle for breakfast which said it came wit greek yoghurt and granola crunch. The yoghurt was just drizzled on and there was no granola crunch, very disappointing.

Gorgeous property, comfortable rooms, fantastic staff, good spa, delicious food at both dinner and breakfast.

It was quite expensive, but I did stay on a busy weekend

Nothing liked everything

Gorgeous, comfortable hotel. We enjoyed using the spa and also having a drink in the bar. The staff on the front desk were fabulous. The staff in the restaurant were trying their best but they were massively understaffed on a busy Saturday night.

The service at dinner was terrible. The waiters and maitre de were full of cheeky banter before dinner, but then it came to be sat. We waited a long time to be sat at our table, even though we had a booking. We waited to be even offered a drink. We hadn’t had one yet as the queue at the bar had been too long. Then we waited again for our starters to arrive, and then another long wait for the main. We gave up on ordering more drinks or a dessert because it was getting so late. We would’ve had more drinks in the bar after as well but we just could not get served.

we were happy in all with the stay and accomondations. Apparently the suit one part of the familiy stayed in was very nice. One of the smaller bedrooms only had a velux windowThe swimming pool was very nice despite missing out on the jaccuzi which was out of order.

Slow service in the bar on Saturday night.We had booked a table in the restaurant >10 days before and knew where we would be sitting but this was given to another group. Before we were sorted out and we sat down to eat quite late. However, Abdul was FANTASTIC and funny and gave us such a nice time that it was all forgotten in the end. Dinner and breakfast was very good
