Islington Hotel

The wow factor of the architecture and the exquisite original art in all the rooms made for a memorable stay. Loads of character and absolute luxury. I will be telling all my friends!

We stayed in room 11 in early September 2025. We would not normally stay in a place like Islington due to budgetary restrictions, but as this was a special occasion, we splurged. We had stayed here before, so we knew our stay would be special. The Hotel is a magnificent blend of old and new with meticulous gardens and a stunning view of Mount Wellington (it snowed during our stay). The whole stay was wonderful and the breakfast is top-end restaurant quality. The onsite property manager was very attentive and her focus on customer satisfaction made our stay even more enjoyable.

The only thing we could complain about was the Restaurant not technically being 'open' for dinner. We did have dinner in the restaurant one night and the meals were excellent and the open fireplace and ambience certainly made up for the reduced menu. The staff were very attentive and went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed what was available.

Tranquil, quiet get away. Gardens beautiful. Easy parking. Staff welcoming & friendly, everything was easy. Thanks for a pleasant stay.

This hotel was wonderful, we left wishing we had more time. The check in process was quite personal with a welcome beverage and tour and the staff put in the wood fire place (with marshmallows) for us to cozy up next too while we checked in and later in the evening set us up with a table next to the wood fire to have our take away dinner at the hotel. The service was phenomenal, the room was cozy, the bath was heaven and the grounds were stunning and communal rooms were great to sit and relax or play games. We booked last minute after a horrible experience at another hotel and were just blown away. We had the best, quiet and comfortable night sleep. We will be back, it's such a gem for Hobart.

Very calm and peaceful place! With a bonfire, marshmallows and mountain views. Excellent breakfast. I will definitely be back.

Everything from the greeting with cuppa and biscuits, the room, the garden surrounds and breakfasts were all exceptional.

I could have been a few centimetres taller so that I could get into the very high bed more easily. My problem, I’m very short!

I was very impressed with the hotel's cleanliness, style and aesthetics, from the communal areas to the room itself. For the price we paid for the room, I think we received exceptional value. The staff was great at every interaction and I will definitely come back and stay here again. The location was fantastic; it's truly is a gem in Hobart.

I wish the hotel had a pool but the beautiful rooms, gardens and outdoor areas more than make up for this.

They have stopped providing dinner service so each night means finding, booking and driving to another restaurant . Hot breakfast a little below par this visit and only cold croissants and muffins with very good muesli.

It’s the third time for me to stay at Islington. Excellent services. Very comfortable bed. Delicious breakfast. Never let me down.

The property felt super luxe and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious, everything was cooked on point. The property is well maintained with top quality finishing.

Not alot to complain about except the air con wasn’t working properly but before we’d arrived the concierge had already organised a fan and explained the situation. Great service.

The property was stunning in every way. There was clear attention to every detail, from the furniture to the artwork, the way the staff personalised your experience and the little chocolate and tea delivered at night. I felt like I was welcomed into someone’s home and treated to delicious food and incredible service.

It was an historically beautiful property with magnificent views of Mount Wellington.The interior design was exceptional.The surrounding gardens are also magnificent!!
