Melville House Newport

Pros +

• The location is walking distance to a good portion of the seaport. The staff was exceptional. Someone was waiting for us when we arrived to help direct us on where to park. They were very welcoming and helpful with directions.
• Made to order breakfast along with outstanding friendly service made for an enjoyable experience. Cleanliness and location were top notch as well.
• If you're not traveling with a car, the location is great - very close to the ferry, bus station, and plenty of shops and restaurants. Otherwise, there's nothing to recommend this hotel - this was among the worst travel experiences I've had.

Cons -

• The bathroom was tiny. The sink is like a ship sink with no space to put anything. The shower was really tight. But for one night, it was totally tolerable.
• The room was advertised as having air conditioning and an en suite bathroom - it had neither. While some of the staff was nice enough, I had an extremely disappointing experience with an older gentleman at the front desk - he was condescending and rude.
• Bathroom was so small. Shower felt like you were going to fal thru 1st floor. Very small room for the price!
