We were surprised to see how big is the room, it was clean and comfortable. The staff was amazing and the food in restaurant was really good. We enjoyed the breakfast which was with a lot of variety of foods.

The hotel is located at a very convenient place for us, at the border of Germany and Austria. Room is very spacious, bed is comfortable. Provided a nice cot for our son. The interior is like in an old castle. We liked it a lot. Breakfast was delicious, plenty.

Evrerything was fine. The only small exception is the image of a half-naked woman on the mirror in the men's bathroom on the ground floor. Why is it needed in 2024? The clientele is probably not 14 anymore.

The hotel is beautifully appointed, full of character, in a beautiful location with super friendly staff, everything immaculate and super clean , comfortable bed, warm room ( it was chilly and raining) and excellent traditional cuisine restaurant. Superb.

No lift and stairs are steep- but this is understandable as it is an old hunting lodge/ castle. Don’t let it put you off- the climb is worth it!

I went to the hotel around 6pm, but there was no staff at the hotel. After waiting for a while, I rang the bell to speak to a staff member, and was told where my room key was. I went into the room, but it seemed like only my family was staying in the hotel, so it was very scary and the atmosphere of the hotel was scary. It was also scary. Our room was mostly unhygienic, with dust everywhere and the inside of the mini bar refrigerator. The next morning we went to a restaurant for breakfast, but all the food was so old that our family couldn't eat it. The cereal was old and soggy, the fruit had turned yellow and dried, and the cheese and ham pieces were too old to be eaten by humans. I think the unsanitary and food rating of this hotel is absolutely 0. While I was waiting at the front desk to check out, the old woman focused only on what she was doing and waited there for a long time. It was different from other hotels, and my family felt bad about our last trip because we wasted 200 euros per day.

Good sized room, friendly staff & nice continental breakfast. Nice, quiet location too, with a 35 minute, (downhill), walk into town and free parking.

Was sold as being air conditioned but only had a large, very noisy tower fan on the floor, circulating the air and not air conditioning, so the room was quite warm & the fan made it difficult to sleep.

The room is huge, size and highwise, and very homely with wood, big windows, table and comfortable bed. Also the bathroom is spacious and equipped with soap, showergel-shampoo, towels, hairdryer, 2 glasses and a chair. Wifi works, you’ll be told the password at check-in. The night was good and it was lovely to open the windows to the birds singing! Breakfast was a buffet with good choice, the cheeses and meats were fresh, the eggs were exceptional (the man at the reception assured me there were fresh bio eggs from a nearby farm) and there were fresh fruits like strawberries and watermelons, fruit salad and nuts with three different types of yoghurt. The coffee machine gave plenty of options of delicious hot drinks and there was orange juice and multivitamin juice alongside with milk and water available. The inner city of Passau is only 10 minutes drive away (or 20 if you want to avoid the steep hill) and the nearest and cheapest fuel station is on the austrian side about 5 minutes past some amazing countryside views! The price including breakfast is reasonable.

The way up to the Hotel over Mariahilf is very very steep, so be aware of that when you choose your route to get there. There is no lift, and no hotel rooms in the ground floor so even though the restaurant has a disability toilet and eating in the restaurant / beergarden is disability friendly, staying over night in the hotel is not. I‘d recommend it even though thanks to the lack of disability friendly facilities we unfortunately don’t expect to be back.

Beautifully crafted interiors, very friendly and accommodating staff, incredibly quiet surroundings and a very good restaurant made our stay memorable.

Nice hotel, totally refurbished, very clean and safe. Good parking, free of charge, the room Nr. 15 was refurbished as well; the building looks like a little chalet in the Montains.The food was nice, the price ok. as well.Kindly staff!

Road to the hotel is a bit tough, take care and drive slow. Safety before speed, but it is worth it!!!

Very nice hotel situated in a beautiful location with spacious rooms. Friendly and helpful stuff. Good restaurant.

I had a dual aspect room on the 2nd floor.

Mosquitoes. Mosquitoes. Mosquitoes! No lift. No aircon. No insect screens on the windows. I arrived to noisy vertical fan in my room showing 27C. There was a summer storm early evening and power went off for 12h (no fault of the hotel). That night I either roasted in bed or let the mosquitoes feast. They were in my room when I arrived. I could hear them buzzing in the corridors during the day. There was even 1 sitting on the edge of a bowl of yoghurt at breakfast! The hotel seemed to close up during the day (my room key granted me access to the hotel). Check out was 11am. The maid service tried to entice me to leave by 10am. If staying here for Passau and intending to walk the 3km into town, be aware there's over a 100m ascent/descent between the hotel and town. Bus service was hourly. Taxi cost around €20 one way.

Wifi did not work, tv did not work, service phone did not work, there was an empty bottle in mini bar at our arrival. Not the quality you expect for this price and in Austria. Disappointing.
