Hotel Spa Le Calendal

The service was fantastic!! The staff is top notch. Just couldn¿t be better. Service was anticipated and available and friendly. From the front desk to food service to rooms. Terrific.

The room was too sterile and I didn¿t like the way our room opened directly on the courtyard. We could hear outside so it seemed like we were in a fishbowl. No place to put things in the bathroom either. Or hang anything except for closet.

The location was amazing and the multitude of outlets was great.

A mirror over the desk would be helpful so 2 people could get ready at once.

Jacuzzi could've been warmer. 90 Degrees F doesn't cut it

Location was perfect, our window was overlooking the Roman Theater. Many restaurants close by to choose, although lunch was excellent at the hotel. The hotel is in the heart of all of the attractions, especially the Arena. Welcoming staff and enjoyed the spa.

The location was good. Central to shops and sites.

It was very difficult to get to. The lobby was not very visible and was mostly taken over by the cafe area so we didn’t know which way to even go in. There was really no lobby per se and everyone was very busy all the time. The servers were not very nice or accommodating and in general the ambiance was not pleasant.

The staff is fabulous. They helped with our luggage, made dinner reservations for us, and offered service in a friendly and efficient manner. All staff were extremely friendly and courteous.The location couldn't have been better. We were across from the colosseum and could walk to all sites and restaurants.Parking was also convenient.

We had a two-story room with a sink and shower on the top level, but we had to go down to the first level to use the toilet.

We were too early to check in so we chatted with Cecilia, the owner. I told her that we had stayed there over 20 years ago and loved it. She upgraded our room from what I had booked. We took advantage of the beautiful spa that afternoon and both had massages. The masseuse was very good and the spa was very relaxing.

I wish we could have spent more time at the hotel. We met a friend in nearby St. Remy both days so didn't get to enjoy our room and hotel as much. I wish the spa tub was a little hotter.

The staff was so friendly and accommodating. The setting with a private garden area was delightful. A restaurant on site and others within a block, plus shops and the colosseum was perfect; I would stay again !

The manager gave us a wonderful room downstairs, so no climbing of stairs.She also made reservations for dinner at Le Criquet . great place .Spa was wonderful. Could be little warmer.

The room was larger & prettier than expected and the view was exceptional. We loved the spa and the location as well.The young fellow who checked us in was very pleasant and helpful. There was a nice choice for breakfast and the sandwiches we ordered to go were very reasonable and greatly enjoyed on our train trip to our next destination.

Lovely staff and great location across the street from the Roman Arena and Amphitheater. Our room (#4) had a balcony and was perfect for our needs. The hotel serves a good breakfast in the courtyard and you can eat / drink during the day at the bar located near the hotel entrance. There is a small rooftop bar as well which was a great way to wind down after exploring all day. Very happy with our stay and would certainly return.

Only issue we could see with older travelers would be lack of a lift to bring luggage to your room. However, the staff was more than happy to assist as needed.

The hotel is located next to the Roman Arena, in an old part of Arles not easily accessed by car. The neighborhood is beautiful and fascinating, with many excellent restaurants. The rooms are air conditioned which was refreshing in the July heat. The hotel offers a breakfast buffet for 16€/person. This includes an espresso machine that makes many coffee drinks, an orange juicer, lots of delicious pastries, yogurts, cheeses, ham, an egg boiling machine, and some fruit. There are also a la carte items at a lower price. The spa (a steam room and a pool with bubble jets) was nice, but not especially chic. Most staff (not the manager) were friendly and helpful.

The hotel is not nicely designed: the decor is cluttered and tacky. We found communication with some staff, particularly one person who we assumed to be the manager, to be fraught with confusion. This person seemed annoyed by us, and often didn’t fully listen to our questions before providing imprecise and incomplete information. When we booked our room, we were told us that we would have to park at the nearby Parking du Centre, and walk with our luggage to the hotel because dropping it off would be too difficult. The walk from the garage took 10 mins. It was uphill, and for us, it was in 92F heat. This is considerably challenging for people with heavy luggage or those who are not physically fit or able-bodied. When we got there, we saw others getting dropped off at the door and waiting for taxis in the lobby. We were extremely tired and hot, and found the gap between what we were told to do and what was actually possible to be frustrating. Parking was our biggest problem. We tried to book parking ahead of time in the previously mentioned garage. But it was not clearly explained how we make use of the parking pass. We didn’t initially understand, for example, that we were supposed to use the pass to get in and out. Because of this, we ended up having to double pay for one night. The garage was full on our second day. So we parked on the street. Seeing no municipal signs prohibiting this, we paid for overnight parking. The next morning, our car had been towed.We believe that the unfortunate parts of our stay could have been avoided with clearer communication. Perhaps the hotel should put together a small brochure about how to use the parking pass, what to do if the garage is full, and how to avoid getting towed. Consequently, even though the hotel is nice enough, we don’t think we would stay here again. It was too stressful and we didn’t feel as though we were treated respectfully.

The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, and the hotel is situated right next to the Roman arena. Great breakfast! The hotel has a beautiful courtyard with tables , but they also have a cafe out front by the street whete you can enjoy a glass of wime or a beer.

Close to the major sites

The room was not serviced in between days. The bed was not comfortable. The lock wouldn’t work and the key broke in the door. With the exception of the gentleman who checked us in the other staff were unfriendly - curt. The top floor was not available for viewing due to a tour group who reserved it?

Location literally could not be better! It is literally between the two main Roman sites in town, the arena and the amphitheater, and was a stones throw from both. The room was very artsy, loved the artwork and the local origins of it. The absolute best part of this hotel is the staff. They were so kind and helpful and generous. I relied on them to all speak English and they were all fluent. I can’t say enough about them.

Wonderful location. Very friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable room and bed and plenty of places to sit, both in and out.

A little more hep with breakfast, particularly with getting orange juice.
