The surroundings are stunning. Food in the Cave was amazing and we had brunch in a dome...staff were so good, attentive and accommodating

It was a shame the carbon monoxide detector battery in the dining room needed changed and had a constant beep through dinner and breakfast the next morning. We were told maintenance needed to change the battery but weren’t in. Also had to send my steak back as was overdone and the second one was ok but not excellent, which i expect it should have been given the price! Some staff seemed tired but I guess thats to be expected by 2nd january.

Room was well appointed, spacious and immaculately clean. Very good attention to detail (e.g. underfloor heating in the shower, a pint of milk for tea and coffee, a cafetiere, a tea-pot, pen - all the little things that just elevate the experience)

The lighting in the room, while very stylish, was a little inadequate in places - e.g. around the tea and coffee station

One small thing , was my husband ordered the brioche Charlotte pudding but very very small for £14 , certainly would not have it again, but everything else was perfection

Stayed in the stables which was nice. Decor could do with an upgrade however the bathroom is the star of the show. Some sockets weren’t working in the room - unfortunately our phones didn’t charge which was concerning as we had a 4 hour journey home in the snow with no phone. We arrived during the snow storm and the staff were working tirelessly to keep the road to the entrance (a very long road) clear. We had a dog with us and he was more than well catered for both in the room and in the bar whete he was able to accompanyt us for dinner and breakfast. Dinner in the cave bar was really quite delicous and reasonably priced. Breakfast was excellent and good quality produce. The staff were lovely. A little suggestion - when the weather is as bad as it was (it was really bad and roads were closed all over Grampian and beyond) perhaps determine the journey your guests have to undertake and maybe offer them another night stay at a reduced rate. I am absolutely positive there would have been cancellations as we went off the road twice and almost turned back even in our large 4 wheel drive vehicle. Surely the fact guests would have been eating in the bar/reataurant etc. would have been a win win all round.

Beautiful Room (Manor Room) lovely decoration, huge bed and spacious.

Noise - Room 8 was directly above reception and although it was a stunning room, you can hear every noise in reception from the staff talking to noisy guests retiring from the residents bar. It was probably accentuated by the fact it was Christmas party season and there were a higher number of inebriated guests than normal!

Reception staff were very friendly, informative and professional. Lovely Christmas decorations. Our room was wonderful, really grand and magical, there was a wee dram offered (although we don't drink whiskey), the book cabinet had books which are hundreds of years old - really fascinating. The grounds were lovely, with lots of ducks and swans in the ponds. The old bar cave was pretty special, we liked hearing about the hotel's history from reception. A limited but tasty menu and good breakfast selection. And lastly, a very good cocktail selection.

Room was a little cold on arrival and took time to heat up. Bathroom is a little dated, but we were told that they are due renovations. TV in the room is on the small side. Room was above dining hall and could hear staff setting up breakfast in the early hours. Dining server(s) were a little awkward. Starter was served before we received our drinks. Didn't feel that the food quality matched the cost.

Beautiful historical hotel set in extensive picturesque grounds. Great food & wonderful staff which are a credit to the hotel.

Service in the bar/ restaurant. Could only offer peanuts or 3 course meal. Bartender was understaffed. Peanuts never arrived. Had to go to room and order a sandwich from room service. Check in at reception was not very welcoming, however staff at check out were lovely.

Everything. Room 407 was amazing. When I come back I want that room. The scenery. The helpful staff who dug us out in the snow. Breakfast was amazing. Really enjoyed the stay. Be back for sure

Was dark on arrival and not very well lit so I could find my room easily.

The old and new combination makes Meldrum House a special destination. I prefer the listed Stables quarters to stay which offers generous and comfortable rooms. The breakfast and the meals in The Cave are excellent not too mention the impressive whisky selection! All the team are really friendly and helpful and are a credit to making our experience there a pleasant one.

As a coffee nerd I miss a good coffee first thing in the morning rather than a cafetiere that doesn't filter! How about a Nespresso machine?
