Umtamvuna River Lodge

Amazing setting on the river with lush tropical vegetation, wild monkeys and bird life, and optional boating and sport activities. We had great pizza out of an authentic pizza over and enjoyed a lovely hot breakfast. The owners are super people.

Rooms could use an upgrade; it's not a 5 star hotel but good value for the money.

The evening meal was supposed to be wood fired pizza but they were obviously frozen and barely edible.There was a large party of drunken guests who took over the pool area with crates of booze then moved inside when it started raining so no one else could use the lounge/bar area. Drunks changing babies nappies on the restaurant dining table was the last straw for me.

Location is good ,but the road to the lodge is not conducive especially to a person driving a small car.

There is no restaurant in the lodge. The primary goal was to rest, enjoy food being prepared. Driving out after conditioning yourself that you have to rest was a very bad experience.

The place needs to be renovated. It is in a very neglected state. The only positive was the helpful staff.

Rooms weren't great,no wifi as advertised ,water was merky and tasted funny...ended up buying bottled water....maintenence overall of rooms and pool tables wasn't great...wall looked like it had blood and wasn't cleaned....wasn't the experience

This is a piece of paridise. So peaceful - even on New years day.The hosts are great and are there to help with all your needs.We also took a ride on the tubes and swam in the river. We had a braai next to the swimming pool every day.Best New year I had in years!

The location and staff were great. Very friendly, hospitable and helpful. Food was also very good. The lodge and its location is very unique. Feels like you're staying in a tropical jungle.

The power to our aircon was switched off the one evening for reasons unknown. The shower needs a shower door as the water sprays all over.

It’s old, and unkempt. Not much maintenance…seems they’ve decided to just make it a cash cow; not much being reinvested to keep it up.

It was a secluded area,good for a couple that wants a hideout and boat cruising.

The photos were not accurate to what we got to,the area is not easily accessible and the weird stares from the people at the facility were not reassuring,I felt out of place, the environment was not as welcoming as I had hoped.

Beautiful place to relax and unwind. superb staff, delicious food and clean and comfortable ?

POOR QUALITY FOR A LOT OF MONEY

The accommodation was overpriced for the stay. You have to constantly travel out for food. The location is amazing , but all the facilities need urgent attention! You can't help but feel like the floor beneath you is going to break... it's almost impossible to eat close to river because everything stinks and is extremely dusty.Milk was spoilt and not changed for I don't know how long. Aircons were switched off. Lights not working... toilets were clogged. Really overcharged!

We booked for 2 days but ended up staying for 1as the owner of the establishment had us below his kids room. We could not sleep because the kids were jumping and making noise past midnight. We went to unwind but even their pillows were uncomfortable. We left just before 8am on Saturday morning and the owner never had the decency to contact us and find out what was wrong. Will not be returning there .

The views are stunning.The staff Nicole and Sindy such lovely people.The breakfast was 11/10Traveled with my wife and 7month old made our stay so comfortable and they where so accommodating to our requests.The boat cruise is a must such amazing views.Will be back soon.

Nothing at all

It was quite and peaceful. Very good for connecting with nature.

The road is not very good for a small car. You'd probably get stuck on the mud when it's raining.

Excellent breakfast. Location is perfect.
