Pros +
- Overall, this is a nice hotel but a bit pricey for the total amenities provided. The breakfast buffet is included. It's nothing spectacular, but it gets your belly full. The grounds are nice and clean. Be prepared for lots of walking with great views or waiting for a ride. The beaches are very nice, and snorkeling is available. A few options for food, mostly enjoyed the food, but be prepared to pay $$$. Rooms are nice and spacious, clean but do need a bit of updating. Most of the Staff are accommodating, nice and respectful. we enjoyed our stay but did expect a bit more. Lots of things to like about this resort but we will not be going back.
- The highlight of the stay was the staff, especially the bartenders at "the terrace." The two bartenders, by far, were the most naturally engaging. Glenn was full of recommendations, which we availed ourselves of during our stay on the island.Breakfast, while mediocre and repetitive, was certainly appreciated each morning. For sure, the views from The Buccaneer are beautiful and enough to induce a level of serenity.
- I like everything and everyone. Best vacation ever.
Cons -
- For the price we paid, we did expect a more updated Resort. The food was good but extremely pricey. Drinks are also very overpriced but well-made. Few staff members looked like they didn't want to be there. Some went out of their way to make it special. If you have kids, they will have fun, but do not use the kids' club; it's a complete joke with some of their staff disrespectfully treating kids. Cab rides on the island are also ridiculously expensive, and renting a car is dangerous with driving on the opposite side of the roads, no Uber. Overall, just not what we would consider a return place, many places in Mexico that blow this place away for less.
- We stayed in the main house, which could use some love and zhuzhing up. The rooms had a moldy smell, which permeated my clothes and could be smelled on the next leg of our vacation. The food was mediocre and overpriced; I guess people have low standards when it comes to well executed food. The property is pretty far from anything in town, and taxi rides add up and are VERY inconsistent. For the same ride, we were charged anywhere from $15 to $50 dollars for two people. Go figure. Lastly, I don't know whose idea of "luxury" this property is. Do yourself a favor and book a room in Downtown Christiansted.
- The TV remote was wonky but who really watch TV on vacation.
