Location, natural beauty, services offered- snorkeling, fish feeding, kayaks, etc we took the outer reef tour and it was amazing. Worth the extra cost

Very crowded the day we arrived. This was due to the day visitors from Cairns. The mornings and evenings were very quiet with very few people. I highly recommend spending at least one night in the island.

The room was very nice.The bed was very comfortable.We loved the range of activities availableThe restaurants were very good.

The resort was wonderful after the day-trippers left around 4:30 pm. Between 9:15 am and 4:30 pm the resort becomes very busy indeed.

Love the inclusive activities and the location is absolutely stunning!

Food was pretty expensive! Completely understand that its a resort and food etc is limited but having facilities for toast and some sort of crockery in the rooms would be amazing as we struggled to afford to eat out there breaky, lunch and dinner especially when the breaky buffet is $40 each when we would prob be happy with a pieve of toast and banana haha.A brush and pan would also be a huge plus in the rooms

The island itself was really nice. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Horrible smells everywhere, felt super dirty, all buildings were extremely tired, food was not good and was overpriced.

Views were stunning. Staff were all very friendly and the rooms were pleasant and comfortable. The food at the main restaurant was surprisingly delicious. They offered a range of activities such as a 30 mins glass boat trip and an eco walk. A variety of different marine animals were seen such as turtles and fishes. Amenities were provided and included within the stay. A very well worth and enjoyable experience. Would definitely recommend.

Nature, comfortable rooms

Not many food options for people with dietary requirements (vegetarians and vegans). At certain times no food was available.

The efficiency and friendliness of all the staff . Accommodation excellent , the sustainability of the island and the surrounding environment .

The fact we had to leave !!

First of all the ferry is included in the room rate making the hotel dirt cheap. The staff meet you off the ferry with your checked luggage and you get treated like VIPs. Check in was very fast as they had our room key ready. (Be careful as they are real keys. If you lose one it cost $30 to get a replacement. We lost ours in the sand but when we heard the price we were better motivated to find it, which we did). It is a beautiful oasis on the edge of the great barrier reef. When all the tour boats leave at 4pm you have the island to yourself. The resort has a pool, nice restaurant and you get 2 free drinks at happy hour at the dock every night. They also offer a picnic dinner for $95AUS that you can take anywhere on the island to watch the sunset. The beach chairs are all empty so you have a big area to choose from, the cooler had a beach blanket in it too. It was magical. There was enough food that we kept the cheeses and cold cuts for breakfast as we didn't book breakfast included. The rooms are large and the bathroom has a soaker tub with a separate shower. There's a washing line over bath too. Every room has a balcony with chairs and table and the view of the rainforest plus the noise at night from the birds and creatures was one of those "pinch me" moments. There is a lounge for guests with a kettle and tea/ coffees to use anytime. It also has board games and books. All snorkelling gear was also included plus unlimited glass bottom boat rides.We found it incerdible value for money. At 5pm every night they feed the fish from the dock. We saw lots of sharks different rays and so many fish. There are sea turtles all around the dock area too. We were so lucky to see an eagle ray fly across the water.We were on a Celebrity cruise that did an overnight at Yorkey's Knob. It was a great way to experience the night sky and lots of water time. I wish we had 3 days as we didn't do all we wanted in a day.

The afternoon ferry is not running everyday so we had to leave at 8:30 when we expected to have the morning to snorkel. There is little control over the behaviour of the day trippers at the beach. They are picking up sea creatures to take photos and standing on the coral. It is a protected environment and there should be a patrol in the water.

The crocodiles and turtles in captivity, and especially the photos on the walls of them being captured in the ropes and transported. Not sure what green island has to do with this place but they promote a visit it to it which we opted not to. Made me really sad to see these animals in captivity, especially when there are turtles constantly swimming around the island which can be seen in their natural habitat rather than in captivity without even going snorkelling. Cant understand why people are paying to visit this place. Really disgusting. The island promotes the protection of the reef, I.e., not touching anything on the reef, but is happy to promote this treatment of other animals. The food options are quite limited and quite expensive.

Green Island is a unique place and we were so pleased to have had the opportunity to stay there. We loved the older style but gracious accommodation. Staff seemed to overall be backpackers but were friendly and helpful.

What really let’s this place down is the restaurant. It is supposed to be a la carte. The food is nowhere near this standard and there is no other choices to eat on the island in the evening. The breakfast is $40 per person even if you only want toast! In my opinion, ditch the “a la carte” and provide some decent food with flavour. Taking into account the accommodation is on an island which I imagine creates some obstacles, for what you pay to stay here, the food options were a surprise and very disappointing. The clientele is largely Asian, no choices for them either.

Fun, unique, beautiful swim, great boat, excellent organization! Good food too! Staff couldn’t have been nicer. All around great trip!

The birds!!

Great location, and great snorkelling. Very restful in the resort. Very nice meals.

We stayed in a room overlooking the rainforest. Lovely room.

The cost ($500 a night) was outrageous. I travelled with my daughter in June. She had been to Green Island for one night in December and she paid $350 including breakfast. I had been looking after a dear friend who died from breast cancer and my daughter took me to Green Island to recover, but we couldn't get a decent price but I was keen to go so we stayed 2 nights anyway. Couldn't afford any more nights but would have liked to. We didn't eat at the restaurant because of the high prices. Please don't have too many day trippers. It ruins the atmosphere of the island. I had recently stayed a week on Heron Island which is very similar and loved it. Food was included in the price and it wasn't as expensive.

Green Island staff were extremely friendly and helpful from the ferry terminal and back again the next day (priority service is offered to overnight "house guests"). Accommodation was impressive, including a large room, comfortable bed, big bathroom/shower and nice balcony overlooking rainforest. Snorkling and beach lounge/umbrella hire fees are included in the price, as well as an entertaining fish feeding "show" at 4:45pm followed by sunset drinks on the pier. Coffee from the Lite Bites cafe was very good.

Dinner at Emeralds restaurant did not meet the "award winning, 5-star dining" expectations (as advertised), but it was still a pleasant experience. Also, the island is practically "invaded" by 100's of day visitors every day, which would become annoying if staying on the island for more than a day or so.

Location and free activities. Fish feeding and snorkeling was great.

The food is very average, very expensive and no other options. I would not stay 2 nights purely due to food. The rooms smell of damp quite badly which I guess is part of being in a rainforest, but it is pretty hard to accept for such expensive rooms.

The location is amazing. Green island beautiful, especially after the big boat leave.

The sunset and the nature / wildlife

The island itself is beautiful (once all the day trippers have left) and most of the staff & marine biologists were really friendly. I also enjoyed the cultural walk with Blake & Jayden from Black Seahorse gift shop.

This resort claims to be eco-friendly and yet there’s hundreds of day trippers every single day on the island, there’s no monitoring of where they go snorkelling so they could very well be damaging the corals, the kiosks during the day give you your food in disposable plates with disposable cutlery, the breakfast is a buffet with plenty of disposable plastic being used despite them claiming to be plastic free, they desalinate the salt water and then return toxic brine into the ocean, they feed the fish every day & the fish have become dependent on this, there’s some captive crocs on the island which live in deplorable conditions ; basically they don’t care about the wildlife, the environment, the reefs or the aboriginals who once used the island for their initiation ceremonies: everything is done to make money & to please the tourists. To top that it’s also incredibly expensive and the food is terrible. Most of the food is either frozen or just tastes terrible, the vegan options were awful , I was served some salad leaves with some gone off hummus & 4 halves of frozen falafel for 30AUD
