i thought the bathroom had a lot of wasted space, shower sprayed outside of shower but these comments are relatively minor in the overall scheme of things

Beautiful hotel and room was far nicer than expected. Very comfortable bed and the breakfast was delicious. The hotel staff were exceptional particularly the girls who served breakfast and Sam on reception.

Bar closed very early on a Sunday night.

Perfect location. Loved the decoration and old & cosy feel.

Hotel was lovely and food was great. Location is nice and I enjoyed having coffee looking out into the trees for red squirrels from my room. Bed was super comfortable and staff were attentive and polite.

Rooms look a little tired with dated furniture. But it looks like there have been attempts to modernise linens and walls etc.

The hotel was a last minute choice for us as our trip to the Shetlands was disrupted. We are really happy we made the decision to stay here. Its a lovely old building and quite a nice hotel.

Our room wasn't serviced on the second day, which was a bit of a surprise. When we spoke to the staff about that they offered us complementary drinks, which we thought was a generous remedy, only to find out later we were charged for those drinks.

The elegant living room with fireplace and the breakfast room / bar. Breakfast was very nice though on our second day service was slow.

The room has a lovely view but the double bed was narrow and the tiny TV blocked a wardrobe.

Friendly staff, lovely room, great breakfast and excellent value for money. Stayed before when meeting up with friends/colleagues just before Christmas. Would highly recommend and will do it again this year.

An impressive building, with the most stylish architecture.

Room temperature was cold, central heating was not working.Shower was very poor, hardly any water and not very hot.

All meals was 5 star and the warm fires

Hotel sign needs to be brighter with gold paint to show it clearer it's hidden by the trees

The staff were excellent. Everyone was helpful and pleasant.Breakfast was superb.Shortbread in the rooms with the tea & coffee making facilities was fabulous!!The lounge area is perfect for relaxing and enjoying a chat in front of the open fire. Just lovely! Location was perfect for what we needed and the cost was good value for money.

I booked 3 rooms for our stay. Rooms allocated to my party were 27, 19 & 2.My sisters stayed in rooms 27 & 19. My husband & I had room 2.Rooms 27 & 19 appeared to be reasonably well furnished and comfortable.Room 2 was in desperate need of some TLC. Furniture was very old and the carpet grubby.The bathroom was lovely and large, whilst a little dated. However, the toilet cistern made a terrible noise when filling up after flushing.There were instructions to use the shower at either eco-low or eco-medium settings as the temperature varied if used at the high setting. The water flow through the shower was not very powerful & at the low or medium setting the water was freezing cold and not usable. So we had to use the high setting. We managed but it was not ideal.The hotel is in a beautiful setting and we had a wonderful night-cap in the gorgeous lounge. I'd love to come again but I would want to be assured that the facilities were better than those available in room 2.

We loved the big bonnie room, we were here for 2 nights at New Year, the hotel was cosy and decorated lovely, the fires were lit and had a great atmosphere

My only thing missing was a bath in the room, but that's just my preference

It’s a beautiful hotel in a lovely location . We had a double room with modern en-suite . A z-bed was provided for my grandson to sleep in but still plenty of space to move around . Lovely antique furniture in our room too .

The breakfast is good and the staff is welcoming and understanding.

The cleanliness of the room was questionable, the building is charming but very dated, the bathroom in the room needs to be completely renovated (see, for example, the attached photo showing the conditions of the sink).

Service was fantastic. All staff worked hard to make our stay exceptional. The hotel was warm, comfortable and homely and yet included all the facilities expected of a modern hotel

We had a small glitch not handled in line with the hotels high standards.The hotel failed to advise revised breakfast arrangements for New Year’s Day to at least two rooms. After complaint we were given brunch as a substitute, but then charged for it.There seemed a positive wish to amend spoilt by a communication breakdown between the dining room, the management and reception when checking out. With a refund promise we left feeling sorry for a team who had worked so hard to achieve 110% only to have it taken from them at the last minute.We hope to receive our promised £72 refund without complication

Location was easy to find and great fir local access. The old building is so pretty to look at and very warm and cosy inside. Staff were excellent and gave first class customer service from housekeeping to dining staff and front of house . The breakfasts and food from dining hall was first class .highly recommend the restaurant to anyone staying .

Wouldn't pick room 2 if offered . Right below is a lounge with speaker, so music and people noise travels right up to room . Not a great sleep when exhausted from travel .Also the old TV was stop start and reception was continually very poor . Missed important parts of some news and weather bulletins. We stayed in on new years day in the afternoon because of the snow and reluctance to use country roads otherwise we wouldn't have bothered with tv .Toilet flusher was grinding loud noise on every flush which I'm sure annoyed our neighbouring room . Only minor things but just means I can't give a 10 .
