Very nice polite and helpful staff.
Room was clean and bed was comfortable. The free coffee is good.
Price is the main factor, the lobby coffee is the next one. We chose this one because it was a primarily a business trip. The room was very basic. Bed, shower, desk area, and a tv.

Room was wonderful! The bar appitizers and drinks were NOT pricey!! The bartender was pleasant and when asked, directed us to really nice local winery! While we didn't try the courtyard it looked appealing. Hotel was priced right!

It was clean. When we go to Fort Wayne this is where we stay. Michael at the front desk is the best. He¿s very friendly, always willing to help and always has a smile.

Nothing it was a disappointment
The best thing about this POS sleep building was that out of all the bugs we found, none of them were alive.

Breakfast, great shower
Cleanliness, and the Amazing staff. Breakfast gets 10stars gets. Will definitely give great reviews, about HolidayInn Express....
I enjoyed continental breakfast ending later than most hotels. I like how checkout is at 11am. This allowed us enough to rest in a little later, grab breakfast, and be on our way! I don’t like being rushed, especially in the mornings.

Top Tips
- For summer events like the Three Rivers Festival or Fort Wayne Air Show, hotel rates in Fort Wayne typically rise by 15-30% within 30 days of the event. Book 1-2 months ahead to secure preferred rates and availability near Allen County War Memorial Coliseum or Smith Field. Verify cancellation policies if your plans are not final.
- Recent guest photos and comments on TripAdvisor often note actual noise, cleanliness, and shuttle frequency at Smith Field area hotels. Use these reviews to set expectations, especially for parking and transit, as experiences vary. Confirm key details for your preferred travel dates before booking.
- Indiana lodging tax rates range from 7% to 12% depending on county and may add $15 or more nightly to your bill. Confirm the hotel's flexible cancellation policies and request a full breakdown of costs with all state and local taxes when reserving.
- A valid government-issued photo ID and the credit or debit card you plan to use for incidentals are required at check-in throughout Fort Wayne. Most hotels place a temporary $15-50 hold per night for incidentals.
- Noise-sensitive travelers should request a room on a higher floor, away from Smith Field's runway or nearby roads. Guest feedback typically reports reduced noise above the third floor.
- Smith Field (SMD) has limited public transit; rideshares like Uber and Lyft are available but may have wait times over 10 minutes. Rental cars are recommended if you plan to explore beyond a 3-mile radius.
- Many Fort Wayne hotels outside downtown offer free self-parking, while downtown garages may charge $15 daily. Confirm parking policies and any overnight or event surcharges when reserving.
- If reliable internet is essential, verify Wi-Fi speed and availability of wired Ethernet in advance. Some hotels near Smith Field provide business centers or rentable meeting rooms, but amenities and bandwidth levels vary.
- Tipping hotel staff in Fort Wayne follows U.S. norms: housekeeping ($2-5 per day), bell staff ($1-2 per bag), and valet ($2-5 per service). Prepare small bills to support prompt tipping.
- Room safes are standard in mid- and upscale hotels. Secure valuables and keep doors locked. While Fort Wayne is known for safety, do not leave items visible in your vehicle, especially during busy event periods.
- Local hotel concierges and front desks can recommend seasonal events such as the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo, Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory, or riverfront trails (within 4 miles of downtown). Ask for printed guides or updated event calendars on arrival.
- State specific needs such as accessible rooms, adjoining options, or early breakfast when booking or at check-in. Many hotels can accommodate adjoining rooms for families, staffed floors for solo guests, or late checkouts for business travelers if requested in advance.
