Huron Sands Motel and Restaurant

Friendly owners. Great location , clean room. Wish this family well.

Extremely expensive for this type of accommodations and for this reason we will not go back, nor will I recommend to others.

Room was clean simple. Mini fridge freezer was great. Staff were great and very helpful This is not a 5star resort. But a very enjoyable experience. The town and beach are great. Very close to lots of attractions. Would highly recommend

For us this was the perfect place to stay!

The room was clean the staff was friendly and accommodating.The restaurant had good food at reasonable prices. It was quiet with the only sound of the waves from the lake! The motel is one block from the waterfront to a beautiful beach!

We had the warmest pizza straight from the oven of the attached restaurant. The two fellows looking after the motel did an exceptional job.

The controls for the heat pumps could have had some instructions. I had to Google the model to figure out how to turn on the heat.

Price did not match experience. Furniture was very old, uncomfortable bed, no fire pit.

Restaurant was not open. We did not stay our second night as we knew we would be more comfortable camping than spending another night here.

It was very dirty, floor not swept, hair in tub and on the towels, toilet paper there was one roll and it has dirt on it as it was on the floor. Sheets were dirty. Room had a smell. Very dusty. Also could not change the temperature in the room for heat.

I liked the proximity to the Providence Bay beach and boardwalk.

I have contemplated writing a negative review because I know business on the island can be difficult during the off season, but here we are.. We had no heat as I couldn’t get the heat working. No one to call for help either. Floors were filthy, space had not been dusted in some time, cobwebs up around the shower/bath and mold growth on ceiling of bathroom. Breakfast not included. Had to ask for it prior to going to our room, which they didn’t realize we were arriving. Staff was not willing to make pancakes, waffles or bacon. My kids had toast with jam which the staff put on himself and did not cut the toast? Never been to a place so horrible and I booked out stay based on previous reviews on this site. I am confused, new owners?

A good location not far from a gorgeous beach.

The beds were poorly made and one looked like it was never changed from the last guest. Black mould in upper wall over the bathtub. The shower curtain was filthy (needs replacing).Arrived about 4:15 pm, had to call a # and wait for someone to arrive and check us in.All in all a very unfriendly place. If the restaurant ever opened, it certainly wasn't obvious.

Okay, the beach was clean and accommodating

There were flies that drove us crazy. We tried to use the microwave, while the coffee machine was on, the fuse blew or the breaker tripped, we ate cold apple fritters and half brewed coffee. The microwave did not work nor the coffee machine.

Dirty. Bath tub was filthy. Floor wasn’t clean-lots of sand. No coffee machine. The restaurant isn’t really open- limited hours and limited menu.

What did you like about the property?We were late for our check in and when we were at the motel. No one at the reception and the restaurant is also closed. We call the contact number so many times and finally someone one picked up. And asked us to wait and we wait wait like twenty minutes. Finally someone inside the restaurant show up and help us check in. They keep saying they call us numerous times but only two missed calls. BTW they leave no new messages. I was very disappointed with this motel's reception service. This is my first time booking at booking APP. Not sure this has happened to other ppl. But to me it is definitely not acceptable. I have the picture of the property opening hours below. Maybe booking can do something about it.

No breakfast was offered. The restaurant was closed. The location was ideal as we were visiting aging parents who lived right around the corner.

The last time we stayed at this motel, it was owned by two European ladies who did an amazing job. The rooms were all very clean and the hosts were very accommodating . This time was a real disappointment . There is not a front desk that is attended constantly and it is very difficult to find anyone to ask for assistance. The room was very dirty. There were no hand towels in the bathroom, the sheets were wrinkled and stained. The pillows only had a protector and no pillowcase. There was sand on the floor, the door would not shut properly, the windows were filthy and full of cobwebs and spider nests. The freezer was so full of ice, that the door would not open. The tv is small and difficult to see as there was only one chair and one desk chair to sit on. The price was double of what we paid last time and non-refundable if you cancelled. Needless to say we will NOT be staying at this place again.

When I moved past our room security lights come on and take away our night vision of the sky. Very bright lights.

Staff were friendly and very accommodating

Furnishings were old, linens thread bare. It was very pricey for the level of accommodation provided.

The restaurant was closed and we were to phone to let the staff know when we would come for breakfast. When I we. To the office at 7:00 PM all of the office doors weee closed and no one came when unlocked. I left the menu guide and we did not try again either day. We travelled elsewhere to get meals.

The location was great. 5 min walking distance to the beach. Amenities in the room were standard. Washroom was clean.

The beds and blankets weren’t the best quality. I walked into a room where the guests didn’t check out yet but it was quickly fixed. I believe no stuffs are around after 8 pm. We didn’t experience any problems during our stay but it could be an issue if there are any emergencies or safety issue.

The redeeming quality of Huron Sands is its proximity to Providence Bay beach. This place is timeless and beautiful, and nearly empty most of the time, especially considering its beauty. The front-row personnel of the Motel (a bunch of young guys from Ukraine) was very friendly and engaged, and helpful, though obviously not very experienced (or good at cleaning).

The rooms were frugal. There was dust and lint in the corners, under the beds, up on higher boards etc. The TV was ok, but not something i care about. The bathrooms were a bit cleaner, and the water pressure and temperature was ok. There were plastic chairs in front of the rooms, where you could sit in the mornings. So far, so average.But... the food was inacceptable. I have not eaten worse anywhere else. And i have been to a lot of places, including India. The indian Thali (food, owners are indian, and i mean from India, not first nation) was so bad, i felt offended. I dont think they would have dared to serve this to a fellow Indian. The naan was so old and stale, it might have been from the day before. The pizza we ordered afterwards was a microwaved convenience food pizza. We did not try the breakfast after this experience.
