    Pros +

    • It was clean A nice size room. Decent shower.
    • Staff are courteous and helpful. Location is 5 minutes walking from transportation hub which includes local buses and long distance. A lot of eateries near by. Free afternoon tea is delicious.
    • Their service was very nice. The location is surprisingly so good, very close to many tourist spots in Georgetown.

    Cons -

    • A function room opposite the hotel, blasted out music until 1am!! Not acceptable. Many rooms complained. This music can be Fri/Sat/Sun! We left after 1 sleepless night.
    • A/C is weak, it needs a ceiling fan to help cooling off the room. The fan gives me a headache.
    • My room has many mosquitos. The window in the bathroom is not fully sealed. Thankfully the hotel staff provided electric mosquito repellent to me for the rest of my stay. The Garden room is smaller than expected.

    good breakfast

many steps in room e.g., need to walk down to go to toilet (but within the same room)

Acera hotel was excellent and totally met our expectations. We were a group of three friends and we booked the family room, which was very spacious and clean. The beds were comfortable, and overall it was very good value for money. But the best thing about the hotel was the location, it was a walking distance from almost everywhere we wanted to go in Georgetown, and at the same time located on a side street that was sufficiently quiet (we found Georgetown in general to be an early to bed city, which worked well for us).

I liked the bed, the historical structure of the building, the staff was welcoming and helpful. The little tea time that was included in the stay, the towel decorations upon checking in. The location was very close to walking downtown

there was only one elevator which was very slow and the sound isolation was not the best but that's because it's a very historical building - seems like they were renovating something during the time I was there

I travel to George Town 1-2 times per year. However, this was my first time staying at this hotel and I really enjoyed it a lot. The staff were incredibly responsive, the location was great, and I love the room's design and style. When we arrived in our room, it was later, and there was an issue with the aircon's display and temperature control. However the problem was fixed right away.

    The architecture.

This was one of 5 places we stayed at in Georgetown. If you are looking for a heritage experience, there are far, far better to choose from. The description of the garden room #216, including the misleading photographs, suggesting more space than in reality. There was no space for two average sized adults to move around the bed, with one small carryon bag and a medium suitcase in the room. We then paid for an upgraded room which brought the cost of each night’s stay to $US 85 in room # 111 per night. The smell of mold was unmistakable, with paint bubbling on the walls in several places. Very poor ventilation in the moldy bathroom - 2 small windows that open to the communal courtyard, depicted in the main photo, is the only way to let steam out. The mosquitoes were a minor problem by comparison. The bedroom lacked privacy unless the shutters were closed, because at ground level, this is a public walkway, so people could look inside the room. We had lights on all the time we were there. Worn duvet cover, with holes in places, pillows and duvet were stained, bath towels were shabby. The highlight of afternoon tea presented an opportunity for guests to gather together, which intrigued us. The tea itself was a pot of black tea, a pot of coffee on a warmer with sachets of creamer and sugar. “Treats” were the kind of local sweet and savory bites you would walk by, in the store.

    Good location

Lots of mosquitoes in the room, there is a slight smell in the common areas and the queen size room is tight for two people

The location of hotel is excellent as it is within walking distance to to various food stalls, shops & market. The size of our room is good.

    Location was execellent

Breakfast could have been better..limited food

    8EricPosted on: 7-12-2025

Breakfast was very good, service and staff was great.

Hall ways and bedroom lights were too dark - would be better if it was generally brighter

Great little hotel in a great location. Rooms were lovely, shower and bed was good. They have free afternoon tea everyday and the staff were lovely. Very good location to all the top spots.

    7YaminPosted on: 7-1-2025

Transport you back to the days with solid wood decor and architecture. Afternoon tea was delightful though it’s small selection (usually a couple of fresh baked items with drink desert and cookies).

Noise from the street - we can hear motorcycles and banquet hall cleaning up. Also whenever upstairs room flushes we hear it loudly.

The hotel staff are not friendly. Compared to other hotels we stayed in, the staff do not smile and are not willing to help guests. Although the room was spacious, the bathroom was very small and felt claustrophobic.I don’t think we will be staying at the same hotel if we’re to visit Penang again.

Excellent location, very clean, generous room size & amazing staffs

Ground floor rooms can be noisy due to close proximity to the main road & no sound proofing.

    10TangPosted on: 4-28-2025

Very spacious room and corridor lined with photos of heritage buildings in Penang. Court yard on the ground level also inviting.Good breakfast spread too.

    8CatrinPosted on: 4-27-2025

Lovely traditional comfortable hotel, very friendly and helpful staff

Coffee in room and at breakfast was not good, which is a shame with so much nice coffee in Georgetown

    7KiakPosted on: 4-27-2025

    Nice environment and very clean

The room is small, not much space for movement

    9LiePosted on: 4-24-2025

Feeling local in a hotel with traditional style

The size, cleanliness, and the customer service is exceptional and quick in response
