    Pros +

    • Fabulous hotel, newly renovated, spotless, tasteful and surrounded by gorgeous property. The staff were wonderful: efficient, warm, and responsive. This stay could not have been better except that I did not have time to take advantage of the beautiful spa.
    • Room was really comfortable. Breakfast and spa were very good! Staff was incredibly nice and helpful
    • I had a great experience overall at Domaine du Montcel. The place is beautiful and peaceful, perfect for a relaxing getaway. Alexis was truly the highlight of my stay—kind, professional, and always helpful. His excellent service really stood out and made a big difference. I would recommend the Domaine for its beautiful setting and the great service from Alexis.

    Cons -

    • Nothing. I loved it all!
    • I was very disappointed with the spa experience on June 28th at 4 PM. The woman working there at that time was rude and disrespectful. Her attitude was unwelcoming, and she spoke in a condescending way . This made what should have been a relaxing spa session feel tense and uncomfortable.Because of this, I can’t recommend the spa service based on my experience, I hope the spa staff receives proper training in customer service to match the quality of the rest of the team
    • Sometimes you book a hotel after reading that there is bad service (which I did this time) and think, ah it’s ok, it gets good reviews on the comfort and beauty, I can handle bad service. Not this time, this was extreme….upon arrival at 3:30pm, there was a 15 person line for checkin, and at least 20 ppl total waiting in the lobby for their room to be cleaned. I read about this online (so it’s obvious that this is their typical, not an outlier, despite them saying “this is a busy weekend”) the whole checkin experience took close to two hours as our room was not ready after we waited in line for about 30 mins, we had to wait another half hour and continue to checkin with the guest services about the status of our room bc they were so overwhelmed with the long queue of new guests. Every other hotel in the world has a checkin time for guests, many guests arrive around that time, and they are ready to promptly check guests in. I have never seen more than two or three people waiting in a lobby to process the checkin in my life of traveling. This hotel clearly does not have a system to get rooms cleaned between checkout and checkin, and has an inefficient process for checkin making the first two hours of your stay very suboptimal. They either don’t have enough cleaning staff, or have an inefficient process or both. I felt like I was at the DMV until 5pm, when I was hoping for a relaxing Versailles holiday. It was absurd. I heard them tell multiple other guests around 4:30pm “your room is not ready yet, first it gets cleaned, then it gets inspected (this is crazy to me, how the staff have to keep calling the housekeeper to see if things are ready and they appear to have a two step process for cleaning )” the guests just have to pile up in the lobby and wait around. The worst part about it, they have a beautiful place to eat and lounge.

Gorgeous setting. Extremely beautiful grounds, very chic and classy environment. I loved the look.

The property is extremely gorgeous. We arrived in the middle of the night and the staff was welcoming. I didn’t get a chance to go to the wellness area due to a quick weekend visit. The bed was extremely comfortable. The property is about a 15 minute drive into the town of Versailles. All staff was polite our entire stay.

I called to see if the hotel offered a shuttle to Versailles, and I believe they said the car was being serviced, I could’ve heard wrong. They stated they could call us a taxi so we went with it and it ended up costing us €45. After that, we used Uber’s which were about €13. On our first morning, we drank the coffee that was provided for the Nespresso machine and called for more coffee and sugar, but didn’t ever get it before we left that morning. When we came back on our first day, our room had been cleaned and coffee refilled. The next morning, we ordered room service and it took an hour, maybe more. We left for the day and when we came back the bed was made, but that appeared to be it. There were still breakfast items and silverware from our breakfast on the desk and our coffee station wasn’t refilled including no coffee mugs. I called the front desk as soon as I noticed and coffee was never brought to our room that night. The next morning I called to get coffee for our room and was a bit annoyed when they told me it would be about 30 minutes after never receiving it the night before. Room service showed up with a basket of bread (as a consolation) with the coffee and cream.

It is absolutely idillic! Stunningly beautiful. I’m the county right next to a beautiful town.

Didn’t like not having access to the pool without booking time in the spa

    Everything was beautiful.

We book a Spa Hotel for the pool and spa and picked one with an indoor pool and paid extra for it and the heater on the pool and spa was not working.

The service is EXCELLENT, the staff is truly amazing! The hotel is beautiful, with cute spa and delicious food.

The food was amazing, staff was extremely friendly and attentive. The restaurant split our dish so we could share it and made both plates looks wonderful.

    Everything was exceptional.

I booked this hotel to stay on the weekend we were getting married, and informed the staff in advance. I was not disappointed: the team laid out a small bottle of (excellent) champagne in the room with a letter from the general manager wishing us the best on our wedding day, and we were upgraded to a beautiful room on the top floor, with views of the countryside and a lovely spacious layout. The room was comfortable and had good coffee available. We did not have time to stay for breakfast but we had a good night, and staff made us feel very welcome. The rooms and the entire space is spotless, brand new and tastefully decorated. To some it may appear a little prim or standardised, but I felt it provided enough sense of homeliness. It is also a very beautiful building out in the country, by a village yet quite close to Paris and a short drive from Versailles, so very good for tourism and sightseeing. There is a car park that's a little far in case of rain (5 min walk), but if you turn left on arrival, it leads you straight to the main building drop off (nice tree-lined drive). We did not get to try the spa and swimming facilities, nor the restaurant, but I'd definitely recommend the place as a hotel, it worked perfectly for us.

We would have been happy to stay longer, there was nothing we disliked.

Don’t book if you do not plan to arrive during business hours.

No one in the reception at late night so could not access the room. They have not issued a refund. Booking.com does not mention this restriction.

Breakfast was a good spread, and we like the speed and convenience of self service. Location good for us as a stop on a regular journey between the Channel Tunnel and south-west France. Food in La Toile restaurant good but expensive. Staff attentive and friendly.

Confusing entrance from the road and not clear how to drive to the hotel, particularly in the dark (the Reception sign leaves you far from the entrance, with no obvious way of getting there), and not very convenient parking. Decor a bit too clinical/corporate (the target market is clearly conference business), with a lack of colour, and La Toile restaurant in particular would benefit from a warmer, more intimate atmosphere. Our de luxe room was a good size and generally well appointed, but a bit short of furniture! Maybe a small sofa at the foot of the bed to watch television?

The room is usually clean, very well equipped and organizedThe food is quite goodthe view id fantasticThe team is helpful and friendly

Very nice grounds and garden, and very friendly service.

Spa has no hot tub, which was kind of disappointing. We were there on a chilly day and as the pool is partially outdoors, we were hoping it would be more like a hot sping/thermal bath. Eggs and sausage were a bit cold at breakfast.

Spa was nice. Room was clean and super comfortable. Staff is super friendly and attentive.

Missing information on hotel services, etc in the room. Not expecting a paper copy nowadays, but would suggest to setupa QR code people can reach a digital copy with information like spa hours, treatments, hotel info (breakfast times, room service, etc)

Hotel is absolutely amazing, excellent service. My mother uses a wheelchair and the staff were so accommodating and nothing was ever an issue. The restaurant and food is incredible too

    Excellent breakfast!

Car park is quite a ways away from room and reception.

    9RuthPosted on: 5-4-2025

The location was beautiful but a long walk from the car park

Wonderful hotel, great location. Facilities weee excellent, including electric car charging points.

    It was perfect.

I would have preferred a better brand of tea. The brand they use is just awful.
