- We truly enjoyed our stay at Zilwa. The room was lovely, though the amenities were quite limited (for instance, no cotton buds or cotton pads were provided). Our hair dryer was faulty, but the staff promptly replaced it within minutes of our request. While we were eager to explore the Marine Centre and other activities, the staff did not seem particularly enthusiastic about encouraging guests to participate. On a brighter note, we greatly appreciated the warm welcome from Luveena at the spa and Ashwini, who took excellent care of us during dinner.
- Overall a wonderful stay, staff were incredibly helpful, attentive and friendly. The facilities were amazing, the view of the propery superb, the entertainment and food well curated and diversified without too much repetition. We spent a week here and wished we stayed longer.
- We had a fabulous stay at Zilwa! What a gorgeous resort! The entire staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, from the warm welcome we received at check in to the wait staff at each of the restaurants. Even the instructor for our morning aqua gym class was great - very enthusiastic! The food at each of the restaurants was excellent; we especially enjoyed the Thai restaurant, Manao, and had a delicious Indian meal at Tadka. We also had fun at the island for the BBQ lunch. The grounds are beautiful and our view from our ocean front room was stunning. We saw several lovely sunsets during our stay too. I celebrated my birthday while I was at Zilwa and the staff made my day very special by decorating our bed and offering dessert with my birthday dinner. The evening entertainment was terrific. I loved the dancers! Zilwa also has many fun activities and we were able to go out kayaking and snorkeling. Although I also wanted to go scuba diving I did not have the opportunity during this stay. I highly recommend Zilwa Attitude and hope to return to this beautiful resort one day.
Cons -
- Additionally, we would appreciate it if guests were verbally informed about the 10% tip. It would have been better to mention this during billing rather than automatically including it on the bill, especially since it is not mandatory.
- The room was a bit below expectations compared to the rest of the property, with furniture a bit more basic (desk and chair in particular). But it was spacious and always well cleaned, perhaps this could be one of the gaps to close to attain the fifth star.
- The service, was taking too long time, whatever you ordered was coming after half hour,i haven't seen them cleaning the pools, very few showers next to the pools.

Everything about Zilwa is great and we always have a great time there. The food is amazing and so much to choose from. But what makes Zilwa absolutely stand out is their staff. They're engaging, natural and very friendly. Particularly to mention Lucky and Nathan in the buffet, the barman by the beach- absolutely fantastic who made sure he was stocked up with my favourite Takamaka white wine and Catamaran crew - Johnson and David!!).It was my second time at Zilwa and I will definitely be back next year!
Worst experience. No staff attended us in the dining area , all the staff busy attending European clients. Chk in process was so pathetic they didn't give the room until 2pm, even whn we requested for early Chk in. Chk out time is 11am even if u take 1 hr to clean the room I shd have got at 12pm, but they didn't give me until 2pm, because reception ppl busy accommodating European guests first. Others how came early got the room but not us.
Air condition was leaking water and the sinks drain was blocked. Rooms are good apart from our issues and the resort is really beautiful.
I liked the beach even was not clear water
The service, was taking too long time, whatever you ordered was coming after half hour,i haven't seen them cleaning the pools, very few showers next to the pools.
The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming, ensuring that every guest feels at home. The daily housekeeping kept everything spotless, and the food and drinks were excellent. A special mention goes to the Indian restaurant—an exceptional dining experience that should not be missed. We also loved the complimentary snorkeling trip and kayaking—during the snorkeling excursion, we were lucky enough to spot a sea turtle! The pool offers breathtaking views, making it the perfect spot to relax & if you have a late flight as we did you can still use the facilities they offer and you can also book a shower room before you leave free of charge.A standout part of our experience was Lesley, the best waiter ever! He made sure our glasses were always full while we were on the beach and brought such a warm and sociable energy to everyone around. If you visit, make sure you get served by Lesley on the beach—you won’t regret it! Lesley, if you see this, thank you for making our vacation in Mauritius unforgettable!
While the beach looks beautiful, the water has some muddy areas, which can be a bit unpleasant. Also, while the rooms are very clean, they could use some renovations as they feel a bit outdated.
Excellent hotel especially for families. We spent a week here and we didnt leave the hotel to tour Mauritius but we were never bored so no regrets. Staff are all great, friendly & welcoming. Plenty of options at breakfast and dinner. The themed restaurants are also great. The food hut on the beach (Tabaj) also offers lunch time options and tea and pancakes from 3:30pm (if you arent on all inclusive you have to pay for tea). The beach was okay. The water wasn't as clear as I expected. It’s a bit muddy in places but it wasn’t terrible. If you plan on training for a triathlon the ocean isnt for you; quite shallow which we found to be perfect with our 2 little ones. Water activities offered at the resort free of charge; paddle boats, glass bottom boat, snorkeling. BBQ at Gran Zil is a must!
The setting is stunning, there is lots to do and it’s a great resort holiday
We have stayed here before and unfortunately didn’t feel the hotel was at the same standard it was at 3 years ago. The quality of the food has worsened and the staff service was at times quite poor. You frequently ordered or asked for things you don’t get. There were never any apologies or acknowledgement when you ask again.
Room itself was comfortable, very clean, beautiful surroundings. Good food selections. If you stay all inclusive, on the day of departure you can stay within the facilities until 6PM and still have lunch and drinks. Various activities available, such as water activities, small, air conditioned gym, tennis and kids activities. There was spa available but we didn't have a time to try it out. This place caters for all who are beach 'bums' and families with kids who don't need to travel out of the property, otherwise taxi or car will be required. We walked to Gran Baie around 2.5 hrs, no pavements but fabulous spots along the way. Staff, most of them were really great.
I think the biggest annoyance for us was the "sea view" room. Technically it was there, after massive garden at the background. So not worth paying for that. Also, door to balcony squeaked loudly so every time we went out, everyone around probably new that. All inclusive food package doesn't include sea food and some other exceptions. Even though you get asked about food allergies it doesn't get checked and things like mushrooms are not mentioned on the menu. We did point that out and head chef did come and apologised and assured that changes will be made. You will be asked constantly about your room nr and food menus are on the app, so phone is a must at all times. It is a very busy place, so if you want a bit of privacy, unless you are in your room, there isn't much available. Be aware, if you book beachfront villas, they have a bar and pool in front of it, and when it gets quieter in the evenings, these are the rooms that have the actual sea views! As we are frequent travellers, we felt that this property was overpriced for international tourists compared to other island we have travelled to. Taxi from the hotel to airport one way quoted prices was 70 Euros. We booked a return taxi via bookings.com for around £60.
The Hotel is run very well, the food all round was great, the staff were very helpful and friendly!!! Nice for families, a bit busy for couples!! We enjoyed it though as a couple! Our room on the beach was lovely!!
The swimming in the sea isn't great as it's very shallow at the resort!!
This place is absolutely stunning and perfect for families. It has everything you could ever need, with so many activities for all ages. One of the best things about it is the staff—they’re absolutely brilliant. They’re so full of energy and genuinely create the vibe of the place. You don’t feel like they’re working; it’s like they’re just having fun, and that energy is so infectious. The aqua sports team is amazing, and the kids’ club is fantastic. You can drop your kids off for the day, and they’ll love every minute of it. It’s the perfect setup for families, and you can really relax knowing the kids are having such a great time. The food is delicious, with so much choice..The spa is incredible, and everything about the hotel is so well thought out. We loved every moment and couldn’t fault a single thing. It’s an absolute 10/10—if I could give it more, I would!
If I had to mention one small downside, it’s that the variety can feel a bit overwhelming, but I imagine that’s a huge bonus for others
Rooms are spatious and nice. The garden and whole resort is clean and well maintained. Staff is friendly with kids.
Their beach is not good, very small water and muddy. You basically have to use only the pools or take a boat to deeper waters to swim. They try to save the planet by not bringing water in the rooms. You have to go and take the water from reception every day, i find this unacceptable for a 4* hotel.
Location, beach and pool/bar facilities
I had a privilege junior suite sea view and to be honest it was not worth the extra money. The very little difference between this and the standard room was minimal apart from the jacuzzi bath which was old and im poor condition. It most definitely needs refurbishment. Also the need to replace your own fridge beverages is ridiculous. My room was miles away from the shop and carrying bottles of water daily is something I have never experienced in any hotel worldwide. Not a practical idea at all. Also very few amenities in the room. Room sparce and very basic. No feel of upgraded luxury for a junior suite and definitely not value for money! Also I struggled to eat in any of the restaurants as the food was of a poor standard
Friendly staff, setting, service and the welcome and entertainment teams.
The rustic nature of the room seemed to focus on being basic rather than authentic.
The setting and layout are exceptional, and the view down to the sea as you walk in through the main entrance is stunning. Staff were great, as was the food.
Double bed was two single mattresses pushed together, and the sea isn't great for snorkeling as there is extensive weed and poor visibility. Shower was adequate but could be better - we also stayed in the 3-star sister hotel Friday Attitude which had vastly superior showers. Otherwise everything was excellent
Pretty
Shallow and muddy beachFood okPoor value for money
Excellent facilities, friendly staff, clean
Excellent location, good facilities. Well appointed rooms. Friendly staff. Good value
Food options weren’t great and there was a lot of bad entertainment around the Sirokan bar in the evenings which was a shame as it ruined the ambience of the place.
