    Pros +

    • Breakfast included and close to the lagoon.
    • The meals were good both breakfast and dinner. The location is a bit away from the main town of Bacalar so it was nice that they offered meals.
    • Peaceful, entertaining and very welcoming. The kayaking, the swimming. Bird watching and playing chess in the play room. Enjoying a good meal in the restaurant with great hosts.

    Cons -

    • Very far from town, no AC on the rooms, rooms are far from the check in office. No lights on restrooms at nights. The whole electricity on the area is solar.
    • The room was comfortable but it could use some shelves for placing clothes and hooks or a rack in the bathroom sink for hanging up the wet towels.
    • This is my third time staying here, and I thought there would be some acknowledgement that I'd stayed there before (this is what I've experienced at other places where I'm a repeat customer), but there wasn't. Not a big deal, just something I noted. Also, there were no blankets in the room - the sheet was okay, but it actually got a little chilly that night and a blanket would have been greatly appreciated.

The breakfast was outstanding (as always), the rooms were perfectly clean and tidy, and the grounds were well maintained. I love the location, the quietness of the surroundings, and the availability of kayaks for use. They were also kind enough to let us stay an extra 30 minutes as we were running very behind that morning. That was a very nice thing they did for us that they didn't have to do! We all really appreciated that.

The staff were welcoming, knowledgeable and accommodating. The kayak being included was awesome. The common room was great also at night to hang and play games ( giant backgammon board/table). The location is love a quiet in nature and all the buildings are separate which I loved .

The food was ok, the breakfast that was included was a little basic . There were a few leaks in the common room from the rain.

It was in a very natural setting with a private dock and swimming area

If you don’t have a car, it can be limiting because it is a 10-15 minute drive into town

The property had plenty of space to make you feel like you’re in nature away from everyone.

The long dirt road that leads to the property was about a 3 minute drive from the main road, takes a while getting in and out of there. If you plan on staying there, definitely rent a car or you’ll spend a lot on taxis

Gorgeous eco cabins nestled in the jungle 10 minutes from the town of Bacalar with lagoon access for a romantic sunrise..

    All perfect

Super nice host, comfortable bedrooms, nicer than in the pictures. Really nice to stay in the middle of the jungle and very easy access to the lagoon. 10 min way from central bacalar (need to go by car).

Breakfast could be more diverse and with more healthy options specially for kids (eg no sugar yogurt).

Beautiful location in the forest with great gardens you can do a walking tour in. Very nice buildings and access to the lagoon. Good food in restaurant fairly priced.

Reception staff could have been more helpful with bags and getting a replacement fan. The fans in the room are not great so can get hot. Okay on April but I imagine very hot in the summer.

We liked everything about this stay! I wish we had more than 1 night there. The villa is located in pictures place between green rainforest trees and it has all the amenities we needed. The bathroom was inside our villa and there were mosquito net on the bed, that we rally appreciated. We did not know that it did not have conditioning and glass windows (it has the mosquito net and wooden windows instead) but it was okay for our family and our little one (15 month old) in the bedroom we had big fan that was good for keeping comfortable temp. The only thing I would recommend for host is to get some glass jars for guests in the room, for visitors definitely have a big water bottle, you would need it for this trip anyway to stay hydrated.

This place is simply amazing: great spacious design villas in the jungle with amazing bathrooms and lovely patios. The restaurant food is great. The walking tour in the jungle was an unforgettable amazing experience. The pier on the lake is relaxing and peaceful and no boats are passing so very quiet.

I would consider having the bar / restaurant open for lunch too.

The location was nice and sunrise we saw at the lagoon was amazing. The concept of the hotel was quite cool and we didn't have any windows so we constantly heard the sounds of nature (which was very very nice). The rooms were quite big.

I didn't like that the water that comes out of the shower and the taps was salty. My hair was very very dry after my stay and my skin was breaking out. Also, there was no WiFi in our room. In the room was no fridge, which I think is necessary with those hot temperatures. Limited breakfast options, especially for vegetarians. We ordered the omelette and on the menu it said that it comes with a variety of vegetables and cheese and ham inside. We told them that we don't want ham inside and as a result we didn't have anything inside of the omelette.

We loved our stay at Villas Ecotucan! The room was very spacious, clean and comfortable and the natural surroundings were beautiful. Perfect place to relax and disconnect (even on a very rainy day like the one of our stay). Dinner at the restaurant was a pleasant surprise, it was delish! Canoeing around the Bacalar lagoon was also a top experience; overall highly recommended!

We wish we had stayed longer!

Privat pier into the lagoon for swimmingSuper relaxing Boho vibe all over the place Very nice and spacious rooms (No aircon)

If you're looking to relax and enjoy nature and the lagoon than this is perfect for you. The property is nestled in the jungle, set close to the Lagoon with easy access to it. The rooms are extremely spacious and thoughtfully designed. The breakfasts are delicious. And the staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, running various activities - e.g. jungle and lake tour. The setup next to the lagoon is perfect - plenty of chairs, hammocks, and kayaks.

Minor point: if you don't have a car you'll need to take a taxi to town (200 pesos each way). But everything you need is close by - there are various hotels nearby with restaurants (when you're looking for lunch or for something else not served at the property).

    9GarthPosted on: 1-8-2025

    All was perfect!

No A/C, but I knew that going in - room had fans and netting so was very comfortable.

    8SergioPosted on: 1-5-2025

Rooms are spacious and settings is like in a jungle. Breakfast was good

Location is off town which make it harder to access restaurants and stores. It is a good walk to go to the Lagoon from the cabins.

    9OsvaldoPosted on: 12-24-2024

Private access to the lagoon, free use of kayak equipment, the breakfast is good.

The options for dinner are limited and expensive. The water in the lavatory and shower tastes bad.The workers that fix the construction next to the lagoon are noisy.
