About

Set 656 feet from Erice Cathedral, right by the town walls, Il Carmine is a former monastery linked to the Carmelite order of monks. It offers spacious rooms with free Wi-Fi, a courtyard, chapel and TV room. Most guest rooms come with a balcony with lovely views of the countryside or courtyard. Each includes a private bathroom with hairdryer and shower. Breakfast at Il Carmine is buffet style and includes local specialties with both sweet and savory food. A traditional restaurant nearby offers discounted rates. The seaside is just a 15-minute drive from Il Carmine and staff can organize a variety of trips, including boat trips up the Sicilian coast.

    Pros +

    • Super location, very clean and quiet. Excellent breakfast and friendly staff
    • Staff, food, location
    • The shower was good and the beds comfortable. The position is excellent! We like also the convento feel.

    Cons -

    • More convenient plug-in options in the room for charging phone, iPad, etc.
    • Furnace was off and room a little cold.
    • The room where we had breakfast is quite gloomy, by contrast the terrace by the entrance is great. My advise is to make use of it.

This is a lovely, simple, very quiet hotel in an old convent. Conveniently located in the historic center but a bit out of the busy center. Fabulous hot jacuzzi bathtub!

WiFi was not always accessible in the room; but always available downstairs.

Location was great with easy parking right outside. Setting was so tranquil it was marvellous - only noise we could hear from our bedroom was the birds singing. Room accomodation was simple and clean. Staff at reception and in the restaurant were very welcoming and helpful.

Close to rown center, location near the south of the city. Good road is via Trapani. Ee were little unlucky came from Segesto, gPS guide us through S road, very surpentine uphill need driving skill. But it is worth once you see the stone house, cobnlestone street and all the Chiesa, wonderful

    Charming, good brealfast

And when there is a refurbishment of the rooms, it would be good to change the bed linen : in today's hospitality industry, the use of bedspreads or coverlets, and unwashed blankets in wardrobes, is becoming increasingly outdated. Guests, ourselves included, prefer not to sleep with linen that may have been used by others. Hotels that provide duvets with removable, washable covers, ensuring that guests sleep in freshly laundered bedding without decorative cushions or bed linen used by previous visitors, are setting a higher standard of cleanliness and comfort. The practice of using bedspreads and cushions that have been handled by prior guests is deemed vintage and no longer acceptable. This approach is the way forward in meeting modern guest expectations.

Very dissatisfied with the lack of internet connectivity in the rooms during our recent stay. Despite management being fully aware of this ongoing problem, they appeared indifferent to resolving the issue, relying on guest departure as the solution—only for incoming guests to face the same issue. Having early morning conference calls, we were forced to set up beds in the communal foyer due to the complete lack of internet in the bedrooms. While management accommodated this by providing sheets, this makeshift solution is wholly unprofessional and very unsafe. Internet access is no longer a luxury—it's as vital as functional showers and toilets. For management to continue to knowingly subject guests to this lack of service falls far short of 21st century expectations.

Nicely placed and short distance to parking lot. Very friendly staff.

The AC didn’t work as far as we could

Beautiful restored old convent by one of the city gates. Sheltered courtyard to have a drink. Generous room off a large central lobby with generous comfortable seating. Adjacent car park. Attentive, and helpful staff.

Driving all around the cobbled streets to get there!

Location is perfect, parking spots in front of the hotel, nice courtyard to have breakfast

Rooms decoration looked more « modern » on the photos than it really is.

We stayed one night in this hotel and there was a cigarette smell in the room when we arrived. When indicating it to the reception, we were simply told to open the window. The following day, the receptionists tried to explain that the cigarette smell was coming from the tobacconist located 5 minutes away from the hotel (which of course would not explain the cigarette smell inside the room). We were very disappointed by the way our concern was basically ignored. The room itself was dirty (mold in the bathroom, dead mosquitos on the walls). This is a shame for such a well-located building.

Lovely room, and outside space and great breakfast

A quiet corner of a beautiful town within easy reach of attractions and magnificent views. A calm, quiet boutique hotel with a welcoming atmosphere. We had a good sized room which was kept beautifully clean (the best towels in our entire stay in Sicily!). A lovely courtyard for a delicious breakfast with a very pleasant lady serving us. We didnt eat here but the menu looks as good (if not better) as anywhere in the town. Thank you for a great stay.

Hotel in an old building at the edge of Erice. Breakfast was good but nothing special. Personnel very helpful.

Very fiew rooms have any view.and the yard is surrounded by a high wall.

    8TimPosted on: 7-6-2024

Good location on the edge of the town, with parking close by. The hotel was set in a converted monastery which gave it a feeling of serenity. Breakfast was good.

The rooms were very plain, almost austere, but that is to be expected given the previous life of the hotel.
