Ella Planters Bungalow

The property has incredible views - you are in the middle of the nature. The staff was very humble and their service was very excellent. They did everything they could to make sure the stay was comfortable. Several workers were busy making sure the lawn and property was clean on the outside in the morning.

The place is very far from the city. It is a a house converted to rent. The bathroom was not very clean - had some mold issues. The juice served was stale. decorations were tasteful but there is a lot to be desired from the property.

Beautiful setting with stunning views and very tranquil. Really comfortable family room that was incredibly spacious and well equipped. Really kind staff and a lovely stay, really recommend it!

Property is beautiful and peaceful. Staffs were respectful.

Electricity issues. AC didn’t work. WiFi wasn’t working in treetop apartment. Location is half an hour out of ella town.

The gardens are exceptional and the setting is stunning.

Rooms a little dated and you need to be prepared for some bugs in the rooms due to the proximity to the jungle. Some building work going on at the property which starts early in the morning and detracted a little from our stay.

You can have breakfast with that spectacular view. The staff is careful and kind. A very especial place.

The lush Gardens just beautiful. Seriously the best part was the monks chanting in the morning like 530 to 630 sunrise. Also sunrise over the mountains exquisite view. Incredibly calm, peaceful, joyful. The staff went over and above, seriously! You were there for my daughter’s 29th birthday and she was vegan. They decorated the outdoor table with balloons and a happy birthday sign and give us all kinds of wonderful foods all of the vegan that she could enjoy. If you wanna place where they’re gonna go the extra mile even if it is a little updating or it’s pretty far off seems to be worth it as long as you don’t mind those monkeys.

There’s a lot of bugs, not the resort fault. The monkeys are crazy, aggressive, banging on the glass doors to get in again not the resort’s fault.The room is very spacious, but does need to be updated., plugs are in different spots to actually be useful. The grounds are incredible however

We love the beautiful gardens in the birds. The staff was so incredibly kind and a special birthday for our daughter who was traveling with us… Adult 29-year-old daughter. She is vegan and they totally made a menu for her outstanding.

The monkeys were a bit bad that’s nature… but they banged on the glass doors to try to get in, The place is really lovely, but obviously needs a little update and plugs are difficult to use

This is a beautiful small hotel with excellent rooms and stunning views, about 15 minutes from bustling Ella. The location, in landscaped gardens, is charming and eating breakfast and dinner al-fresco is delightful - and the food is excellent. All of the staff were so friendly and pleasant, making our stay so very enjoyable. Highly recommended.

We had a fantastic 2-night stay at Ella Planters Bungalow. The location is beautifully secluded, surrounded by lush greenery and offering absolutely stunning views—perfect for a peaceful getaway. The staff were warm, attentive, and went out of their way to make our stay comfortable and memorable. Everything was spotless and well-maintained, and the overall atmosphere was incredibly relaxing. Nothing negative to report—just a perfect escape into nature. Highly recommended!

Lovely clean hotel, large rooms, friendly helpful staff. Great food. Location great for Little Adam peak, Ella rock, waterfalls. Approx 20 minutes Tuk tuk to Ella.

Waking up to the sounds of peacocks and monkeys, with panoramic views stretching across sunrise and sunset, felt like something out of a dream. The gardens are immaculately landscaped, and the serene pool was a perfect spot to unwind. The property’s personal tuk-tuk and car service made getting around effortless—and at very fair rates, which we used extensively.The heart of the experience, though, was the staff. Jagath was central to everything—helping us carefully plan trips, from catching the perfect clip-so train for Nine Arches Bridge to a scenic day trip to Nuwara Eliya. Kumar and Sandoon greeted us every morning with warmth and a delicious breakfast that felt like home. This place is a gem, and we can’t recommend it enough. For now, it’s au revoir—but we look forward to meeting again. Thank you for making our stay truly special.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Beautiful location with stunning views. Best sunrise we saw in Sri Lanka - at 0600! The food was wonderful - definitely recommend the Sri Lankan chicken curry which was cooked almost in front of us. Breakfasts were also great. It's a bit more rustic compared to a large chain hotel (we prefer more rustic!), but just so relaxing.

Bathroom could do with a little modernisation, but it was clean and OK.

A charming boutique hotel about 15 minutes from Ella. The main bungalow is great, very atmospheric and the gardens are beautifully maintained. Expect to see lots of wildlife, including monkeys! Nice big pool. The kids loved the badminton court. We had a family room, which is two bedrooms with a lounge area in the main bungalow. Perfect for our family of 5.Excellent, big breakfast. The service was outstanding.

If I had to be super fussy, I'd say the rooms are a little dated, but the main planters bungalow is an authentic, historic building, so the decor actually adds to the charm.

Lovely room with scenic outlook; pool looked nice but a bit too cool for a swim when we were there. Updated bathroom. Breakfast was very good. Bit out of Ella but means more peaceful. Staff were amazing. Price seemed high for what's included.

The local is quite a long way from Ella, but it is like being in your own jungle chalet. The views and wildlife are stunning. Room and bathroom are large and well equipped, Bed is very comfortable. View is stunning. Loved the hotel and the staff.

Very comfortable room, amazing view from the balcony, breakfast was excellent and can be enjoyed either in your room or in the garden. The pool was clean and there were enough sunbeds. Easy to access with a car. Close enough to enjoy the things around Ella without being in the busy town. Staff was friendly and helpful. Wifi works well and filtered drinking water was provided.

The AC stopped working a few times, but they were very quick to fix it (within 10 minutes of me calling).

The location is perfect if you don’t want to be in the busy Ella township. The tranquility felt once driving through the date was amazing, as are the views. The sunrise was SPECTACULAR from our balcony, and was followed by a delicious breakfast.
