    Pros +

    • High quality food, at a beautiful and historic site, and an exceptional couple who own and run the place.
    • Excellent location, yummy breakfast and the kindest hosts. Wished we had stayed longer
    • The hospitality and warmth of the owners- the little private garden we have for our appartment

    Cons -

    • The building is old (which is gives the place its character) but the humidity inside was not healthy for us ( we all suffer from allergies though, so it might not be a good fit for us)- also the apartment was not too clean.
    • Not a particular thing that comes to my mind.
    • Quite isolated and limited options for activities in bad weather. Lack of cosy and welcoming common areas indoors to enjoy with the family. Didn’t feel child/youth friendly, more geared towards couples.

First of all, this was a wonderful experience for us to stay in Villa San Michele, within the nature and with our lovely hosts. There are some details below that may be useful for the guests:General: This is a place that is at the start of a national park's hiking route and is covered by many trees. The nature was magnificent, you can take hikes, chill in the facility with the fresh weather or take your kids to the plain grass to play (there is also a children's park inside the facility)Transportation: When you go by car, it is mostly really comfortable and there is only 2 km's of dirt road, which is not a problem to drive through. The place is close to many small towns by being in the center of the Chianti region.Facility: The room that we stayed had a really wonderful view and was very large. The furniture was vintage -which we really liked the style-. Bed was comfortable. The breakfast is included and was rich, additionally you can choose to book a dinner and the food&wine was really good in the restaurant as well. You can have drinks&snacks during the day from the bar if you are staying inside the facility and chilling.Staff: The place is run by a very wonderful couple, who were always helpful and friendly. We enjoyed all the chats we had with them and they helped us a lot on the places that we can see around. I guess this is one of the most important things that brings a character to any place that we stayed before.

Not a particular thing that comes to my mind.

The beautiful hotel is in a huge natural forest with lots of hiking trails. It is high above Greve in Chianti, with loads of wildflowers, hazelnut trees, oak trees, and lots of animal life. The park offers picnic tables and views. Daniele and Alice bend over backwards to make you feel like part of the family, and Alice’s cooking is amazing! Daniele is a great server and host. This place is magical!

The apartment was spacious and tastefully decorated, kitchen well equipped. In good weather the location might have been spectacular.

Quite isolated and limited options for activities in bad weather. Lack of cosy and welcoming common areas indoors to enjoy with the family. Didn’t feel child/youth friendly, more geared towards couples.

Villa San Michele was a fantastic experience. You get there by gravel road which can only be considered as as breathtaking as views are great especially if you take dirty road from Rada di Chiante. Do not worry, every car will make it! Rooms are superb clean and decorated with taste. We were lucky to get an upgraded room with sun set view! Alice and Daniel are serving very tasty and unique cuisine, one you cannot experience on one of street restaurants. Two fire places, food, wine and great views will make your dinner unforgettable. If we will ever be back to Tuscany this will be our stay. Thank You Alcie and Daniel.!

The hosts were so friendly and helpful, they had lots of gluten free options for dinner and breakfast and even took care of my bike that had gotten muddy on the way. The locations is very beautiful, quiet and peaceful. Will stay longer next time!

I loved everything , the owners are very nice, helpful and really care about your well being during your stay. The location is beautiful, peace and calm. The food is really good and having the restaurant in the hotel is perfect for dinner.

There is nothing I didn’t like. (Just I really should read better the indication to find my way ;) )

Very nice environment and very warm welcome. We felt like home immediatly. Even waiting for our friends who arrived late in the evening was not a problem. Also early breakfast on our departure day was arranged without hesitation. The place is a bit outside of the next town, which provides easy access to nature and energetic places.

We loved our stay at Alberto Villa! The hosts are incredibly welcoming and friendly and the room was very clean and spacious. The Villa is in the most amazing location - we went for a 6km run in the forest and the views were magnificent. Great breakfast spread as well! We would highly recommend this spot to anyone.

The calmed and peacefulness at this property was perfect. The surrounding of the trees, animals and crips air is just what we needed for a cosy stay.

    Nothing at all

Tucked away in a quiet woods. Beautiful grounds. 1100 year old monastery! Alice and Daniele could not have been more hospitable. A lovely stay w remarkable cuisine.

A beutiful place in the mountains, perfect for walks ang hiking. The apartment was very big and comfortable. There is a 2km dirt road but is in good condition and we didn't have any problems.

Fabulous place & owners. Amazing food, location & hospitality!

Fantastic location in the middle of woods. Very friendly and individual approach of the owners. Fantastic dinner, wine, breakfast and many more. The surrounding area is great for relaxation. Everything is like harmonized here. The roadpath to get here is just fine, considering the area (top of the mountain and woods).

    10MiklosPosted on: 6-20-2024

    The hospitality was 5*

There are two roads to approach the Villa. One of them is 15 km dirt road. But the other is only 2 km and the rest is asphalt. We took the long one with a sports car. It was our fault, but next time we will be smarter.

    10PeterPosted on: 6-6-2024

The location was fantastic, providing good hiking. Our hosts were delightful and provided us with information to help us get the most out of our stay. They made special provision for us with gluten-free food, including a special home-made chocolate cake. Both of our hosts spoke English well and their enthusiasm for all aspects of pur stay was a delight.

    It was all lovely.

We loved everything about this place: the beautiful location in the middle of the nature, the friendliness of the hosts and the delicious food they serve in the restaurant. The appartment is very spacious and well equipped, the bed is comfortable and it has an own garden. The location is quite remote, but we got very good indications about how to get there. The hosts gave us great recommendations about hikes and activities in the area. We definitely recommend Villa San Michele if you want to combine hiking with wine tasting in the beautiful Chianti region.

There is really nothing to complain about.
