- Clean big rooms, free parking, friendly staff. Great view. Cute hotel dog (Aris). Amazing view from the room
- The location is brilliant and the hotel itself is stunning. The pool was a good size and always spotless as were the rooms
- We loved the brilliant concept of a “village”, everything is in place - store with drinks and snacks available till midnight, bar, restaurant, massage chairs, pool billiard, air hockey, water playground for kids, and of course several pools (we have counted 4).By coincidence (see negative description) we have had a chance to stay in two apartments, #117 and #914.Apartment #117 is just in front of reception, so it is bit noisy due to constantly appearing cars and taxis with new/leaving guests. At the same time, the bedroom in #117 has a stunning sea view, olive tree garden just outside the bedroom window.Duplex apartment #914 has pretty much the same amenities, it just has stairs and huge pool in front of the apartment just in couple meters. We loved this room. Both apartments had 2 ACs (one in each room), safe, hair dryer and a fridge, other stuff we have not used.Hotel staff were all friendly and professional. Everyone speaks English well enough to communicate with guests. All Inclusive and restaurant were just a big surprise in our case. We did not expect the variety and such a great quality of All Inclusive. Each evening there were different seafood and meat dishes, plenty of vegetables, salads, drinks both alcoholic and soft drinks. We loved Greek sweets and cut grapefruits and sweeties. Plenty of different sorts of breakfasts. Tbh, the hotel restaurant crossed out for us the necessity for any other, we did not have to search for other restaurants. The sunset view when you have a dinner is just fascinating. The hotel is at the hill, walk to the beach takes 15-20 minutes. For us was not a problem, even with a preschooler. There is also parking for a car at the hotel, several actually. All pools were great, the one near the bar was a bit of crowder at noon, it was hard to find free sunbeds at times.
Cons -
- Pillows a bit high. Food selection for breakfast not the best
- The restaurant manager was very unhelpful and at times rude. He lacked customer service. We asked twice whether we needed to book a table for one of the (terrible) entertainment night - there are only two a week. We were assured we didn’t. When we arrived we were told it was fully booked even though we were all inclusive. As all inclusive customers you are treated like you haven’t paid rather than having paid in advance. Also, LOTs of cats and people feeding them at the table. The staff do very little about it.The kids club didn’t open once even though we were there in the height of August and it was advertised. We were told there were four pools. There are only two you can use and the splash pool opens occasionally. There’s only one bar open at night and it can fit about five people in. All of the others are closed
- We had the following reservation: 9 nights, Superior Loft Apartment Pool FrontBooked for 2 adults and 1 child months before the hot season in Greece.Upon late arrival and check-in around 11 PM, which was confirmed with hotel in advance, we ended up getting a room which was not the one we expected and booked. To be precise, we’ve got a room #117 in R1 block (see hotel map in photos attached). Why it was not what we expected?1. It was a regular one-bedroom apartment, it was still OK apartment, but it was not a Superior Loft Apartment Pool Front. At Booking.com, this apartment is specified as One Bedroom Apartment Sea View. Also at Booking, this room is approx. €50 cheaper per night than Superior Loft Apartment Pool Front.2. There were no terrace, and no private pool at that terrace. I spent a lot of time planning and comparing photos of rooms, options and facilities provided by Caldera Village, I have chosen specifically the option with terrace, expecting a private pool at that terrace. These rooms are at block R12 (seems like). Later I found out that even though rooms with terraces come with a private pool outside, the private pool is not listed in the facilities of Superior Loft Apartment Pool Front.3. There is no “pool front” in apartment #117.4. Apartment #117 is not a duplex apartment with stairs (!!!), the one which we expected to get based on photos specified at Booking.com.Well, maybe it was an honest mistake, maybe the situation really was the way how we were told at reception, that someone asked to switch their apparent before we arrived and took the apartment we’ve booked (nonsense, right?), or maybe there is really no difference for Caldera Village between a duplex with a terrace and private pool VS one bedroom apartment without any of those.

They grounds were amazing, the unit was comfortable and very clean. The staff was extremely kind and helpful!
The cats.
great views, silence, big appartments, friendly staff, child-friendlydon't be afraid of the hillside location, there are two elevators to help you pass the steepest hill, and the way to the beach is nice and calm, with a few great restaurants along the way!
more vegan options during breakfast would be great and better coffee (with bigger cups :))i think the place is perfect for families with children of any age, but would perhaps not recommend for singles or couples without children (unless you're fine with having only a lot of kids and families around you)
We had lovely 5 days here even with our 2 years old son. Staff was very nice and kind.
We stayed for 5 nights. We had an all in package. We enjoyed the buffet. It was a lot of variety everyday, specially lunch and dinner. Front office and pool bar staffs are very helpful and friendly. Hotel organized a nice hamper of fruits, a bottle of wine for my husband's birthday. They also granted my request with the surprise birthday cake. That was super sweet. 3 pools area was really nice. Rooms was made everyday except of Sunday. Bus to Chania city comes every 30min, takes 20-30 mins ride to reach.
Can't change the fact that the hotel is 15 mins up the hill from the main road and the nearest beach. We enjoyed our walk. It is important to know for family with younger children who do not enjoy walking or need to carry stuff up and down the hill. This is probably one of the consideration. The pool bar buffet needs work on the presentation. Staffs at the restaurant need training. Restaurant Manager needs to change his attitude towards his team. Please do not scold your staffs, that is rude.
great food options every day; restaurant with a very nice view over the sea and an island; several pools to choose from; not very far from the sea (10-15 min walk) and there is an agreement with a nice beach club;minimarket inside the village open until midnight every day
maybe too many cats everywhere but it makes part of the Greek tradition;the animation was only 2 nights per week, some more events would have been apreciable
Excellent resort….delicious, fresh, and very well prepared breakfast! Stunning views; and exceptional staff!! Highly recommend Caldera Village!!
Nice, clean hotel with 4-5 outdoor poolsFood 8/10Desserts-sweets 6/10Pool area 10/10Room 8/10Room view 10/10All inclusive 7/10
Overall everything was good, the food, sweets could have been a little better
The hotel was absolutely fantastic! The rooms were spacious and impeccably clean, with comfortable beds and modern amenities. The staff was incredibly friendly and went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed. The food was delicious, with a wide variety of options that satisfied all tastes. Overall, it was an exceptional experience, and I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a great stay.
The only downside was the location, as the hotel is situated at the top of a hill, making it a bit difficult to access, especially if you don't have a car. However, there are elevators within the hotel that help you reach it easily, even without a vehicle.
The best thing about this hotel is the location! waking up every morning to amazing views! yes, you need to walk and climb stairs - but it is totally worth it! the room was nice and big. breakfast was good. our kids loved the small water park.
the hotel doesn't provide pool towels! you have to go and buy towels when you arrive - very strange for hotel with 6 pools and walking distance from the beach. It is also not mentioned anywhere - so we were not prepared and did not bring towels from home.
Good
Caldera Village is on paper 4* hotel..Maybe it was when they first opened the location.Services are slacking. I asked several times for an iron and i was not able to get one because apparently those were all taken. A/C was old from the early 90’s probsbly. It took 24h for continuous working to get the room cool.Breakfast has variety but quality is not that of a 4*Fresh orange is extra payment.Overall it is a decent 3* but lots of work to be done on services to raise it at the 4* level, however the place has a lot of potential.
Staff is super kind, the whole structure is baby friendly, the buffet has an amazing view on St. Théodore Island and you can see amazing sunset from there. The food is ok.
The coffee, the high pillows, the quality of the drinks by the pool
The food - we had the all inclusive option and for us it was the best choice! The food was always fresh and tasty, and plenty of variety to choose from. Even though there aren’t a ton of food options like it’s the case for most all inclusive, we thought there was just enough to choose from. Several meat options, vegetarian dishes, garnishes and vegetables, pasta/pizza every day for lunch and dinner (perfect for children I suppose), aperitifs and salads - plenty to construct your meal. The selection of sweets is not very large, but everything we tasted was so good. Especially the pancakes! For us in one week, the meals were not repetitive (except the breakfast, which is normal), and every evening there were dishes from a different cuisine - we mostly enjoyed the Mexican and Cretan dinners! The people - always welcoming and friendly, they helped us with anything and we never felt like we were there to disturb them. The pool(s) - there are 3 pools to choose from, we used the one right next to our room. We liked it because it was pretty big and cleaned every day, and it wasn’t “closed” at an early hour, like it’s the case for other resorts. The location - even though we were a bit scared reading the reviews saying there is a very steep way up to the hotel (it really is, the last 200m or so) we were relieved to find out they have lifts to take you to the top and back down of the resort. The Gorgona beach is 10-15 minutes away on foot, very accessible. The views from the hotel, especially from the restaurant are amazing, we watched the sunset a couple of times from there! The room - clean, large, nicely decorated room, we even had a kitchenette that we didn’t used, but it’s good to know it was well equipped and I think it would be useful for non all-inclusive stays. The bed was comfortable and air conditioning was well appreciated. The cats - omg, there are so many cats everywhere! We love cats and for us it was funny watching them or playing with them.
The only thing I would mention, though not the fault of resort but something they could improve in the future, is the lack of a life guard or person watching the pools from time to time. The pool rules are not followed, people and children would jump in the pool, splashing people staying on sun lounges, running around the pool and screaming all day long. There were some days where a group of people would make so much noise, occupying the entire pool, that the rest of us who just wanted a calm day would wait for them to go to have a quiet swim in the pool. A person watching that the pool rules are respected, or maybe having a pool dedicated to adults only would help with this regard.
The village-type layout was very interesting, the room was clean and well equipped, the staff was friendly and helpful. The on-site shop and restaurant were very useful
The property is quite a walk away from the nearest beach, however the numerous pools provide ample opportunity for splashing around
Very kind staff, they upgrated our room to a better one with sea view ? room cleaning was very good, towels and also bedsheets were changed every second day. There is market in the area of hotel. There is also beach bar Gorgona, where you can get some free sunbeds for hotel cuatomers. There are showers and toilets ?
What we really miss was that hotel doesnt provide pool towels, so you need to bring your own, and the same with hotel slippers. Also.. we had all inclusive but we didnt have included drinks at beach bar.
The view was stunning we had a garden view appartment and upgraded us to a sea view one ☝? with no extra charge and no saying
There where no pool towels service ☹️
The view of the sea from some areas, like the restaurant, the pool. The food wasn’t bad, but maybe a little bland
The room was old, it really needs a refresh, and it didn’t seem so clean, the AC looked 30 yo. There was only a small bar in the whole hotel, which closed at 11 pm, almost no entertainment, there were shows I think twice per week at dinner
- Views!- Service! Reception is top notch and thanks to Elena also very friendly- Restaurant with amazing views and perfect management! Food is really tasteful and organised in way that you have for example 2days greek kitchen, 2days china, 2days italy etc. So it is repetitive but not noticeable except breakfasts which are same everyday (but plenty to choose from!)- Kids play room with AC and toilet- Main pool with shallow water for babies- Kids water park is nice but for kids 8 above. Water is also a little bit colder and some of the waterguns do not work- Spacious rooms, clean feel and well equipped- Minimarket on premises till 23ish- Free sunbed on Gordona beach- For all-inclusive plenty of softdrinks, beer on tap, wine on tap, cocktails and snacks throughout the day!
- Stairs everywhere, so bear in mind if you are old or have difficulties. There are pavements and roads around to get to certain level of rooms but are steep. We visited with 2.7year old daughter with pram and managed without hassle- No shuttle service to nearest beach (10ish min walk downhill)
