Pros +
- Big rooms, clean and very good location of the hotel (really close to playa jardin). Highly appreciated the fresh omlettes and pancakes done in front of us.
- Pool closed during our stay with no warning, little child could not swim alone in the alternative options
- Clean and well maintained, with convenient underground parking. However, clearer signage from the basement to the lobby would be helpful. It took a few minutes to find the correct route, which isn’t ideal for guests with children or those wanting to access the lobby directly. The food hall offered a wide variety of options, catering well to most dietary requirements and tastes. Hygiene standards appeared very good, with staff constantly clearing and cleaning tables—sometimes even while I had stepped away to get dessert or refill my drink. One slightly odd aspect was the drinks system: in the mornings, the machines were freely available for juices and hot drinks, but in the evenings you are given a piece of paper to keep a tally of what you take, which is then billed later. A similar system applies to pool towels, where a deposit is required.Unfortunately, sunbed etiquette was disappointing. I placed my towel on a sun lounger, but it wasn’t respected, and someone took the lounger while I had briefly returned to my room.
Cons -
- Only one elevator out of three was working on one side of the hotel, but it was not a major inconvenience.
- bathroom had no window
- Whilst generally polite, some staff were friendly and welcoming, while others seemed more distant. This may have been influenced by my very limited Spanish, although I always tried to be respectful and mindful of local culture. I’m certainly not the stereotypical “lager lout” tourist, and I genuinely wanted to experience the uniqueness of Tenerife and engage with the place properly. At times, however, it felt as though tourists in general were not particularly welcome, and this attitude may have been reflected by some of the hotel staff. I visited mainly to rest, enjoy some sunshine, and to see whether Tenerife might be a place I’d consider relocating to. Unfortunately, the overall impression wasn’t strong enough for me, so I’ll be exploring other destinations.I should also mention the driving experience. I’ve been driving for over 30 years and found the standard of driving to be some of the worst I’ve encountered — impatient, discourteous, and often aggressive. I’m not a slow driver by any stretch, yet I was frequently shouted at or beeped at at junctions. While this is obviously not the hotel’s fault, the overall atmosphere did affect my stay and, to some extent, detracted from the experience.

Clean
Breakfas 2 stars, view wad mediocre, facilities like in a trade union acomodatinon . Slow staff. ..like very slow even for Tenerife
I love everything, it was amazing, very nice kind staff , cleaning service is also amazing, everything is very clean,I had only breakfast but food ,and choice of food it's really, really good, perfect location, just few minutes walking from main bus station and 15 minutes walking to the city center of Puerto de la Cruz. These were my second visit and I will definitely come back again. Thank you for everything, for making my trip beautiful and relaxing. Best regards from Željkica Abulajras
The room was spacious. There was a small kitchen that also had a kettle and complementary coffee and tea, which we apprieciated. The air conditioning worked well, we had it on for the whole stay. The beds were comfy enough. There were many food and drinks options for breakfast. The room had a large balcony.
We stayed in the second building. Getting to it was a bit of a long road, especially with luggage. The whole building wasn't really clean, although there was staff cleaning it everyday. It all seems a bit too old and it is starting to degrade (e.g. rust, mold, plaster fading away). Even though the balcony was large, the separating walls were only half tall, so there was no privacy. They could've installed some separators, even plants would've worked.
The city is very nice and the location of the hotel is nearby Loro park. At the entrance there is a small restaurant with amazing food and drinks. Staff very nice.
Bed was ok, but I chose double bed and they gave us twin beds.
Staff was bored all the time. The hotel asks for deposit to borrow iron for cloths, but no ironing table. They ask tor payment to parking. Staff didn’t change the towels in the room.Floors were noisy most of the time because of music or people partying. You cannot go to breakfast if you don’t have a paper handwritten with your room number (which can easily be copied or passed by). Forget about giving them your name or room number. And many other things like that. Will not return.
A well-located hotel with spacious, clean rooms. The fact that the accommodation allows small dogs on the premises is a positive point.
The reception staff (gentlemen) were very bored with their job both checking in and out. The breakfast was plentiful but the quality was very average. Although we booked here because of the parking, on arrival we were told that there was no space, so we had to search for parking spaces in the area, which are quite rare, sometimes with at least 30 minute rounds.
Beds was comfortable Shower was lovely
The view wasn’t great and location was a bit far from anything
Service, maintenance and cleaning
Noise from poolactivities - but it differs to taste
Upon arrival at the hotel, we easily found street parking nearby. Check-in went smoothly. When we entered the room, we were pleasantly surprised by how clean it was, and music started playing from the TV. The room offered a beautiful view of the ocean, was modern, spacious, well-equipped, and we didn’t miss anything. A kettle with a selection of teas and instant coffee was available. Doors and electricity were operated by key card. Breakfast was included in our stay and offered a wide variety of food options. On my girlfriend’s birthday, we were also surprised with a bottle of sparkling wine and a birthday note in the room, which made us really happy.
The balcony door was difficult to open and close, but we figured out a way to manage it. I was a bit disappointed with the cappuccino at breakfast, as it was instant, and the juices were very sweet—we solved that by diluting them with water. When I switched to espresso with milk, it was much better. The ocean view room is beautiful, but some guests might find the sound of the waves quite loud, especially at night.
Friendly and helpful staff, spacious and clean rooms, great location, right next to the beautiful black beach. The hotel is a bit old but that’s reflected in the cost as well. Good value for money.
Hotel Alua Tenerife is in general a quite OK hotel. The brekfast was delicious and the lunch was also good. The rooms are quite okay and all the staff members are kind, except the receptionist. The location of the hotel is also good, the beach and also a lot of shops are nearby.
I would originaly give 8 point from 10, but the receptionist and the management of this hotel are just horrible. My stay in Tenerife was half lesure half business trip. At the checkout I asked for a reciepe, but they told me after 20 min waiting that they cant give me invoice. I had no more time to wait and complain there, had to catch my flight. In the past 2 weeks I wrote a dozen mails, called them multiple time asking for the invoice but I did not get any answer. I had to write complain to booking.com, and was hoping with their help I get my invoice for my stay and I can give this hotel a proper rating, but unfortunately I´m still waiting without any answer...I always got invoice even from countries like Egypt, Jordan, Bali or Thailand... I´m awfully shocked how can a hotel behave like this. Shame, that a quite OK hotel threaths his client this way.
Close to the beach
The worst thing is that it is impossible to book a hotel parking, they said it was full, although we saw a free space. There is no chance of finding a free space on the road around the hotel. Breakfast and coffee are poor.
Thanks! Everything was good! Food was good, fresh and different. Room was quite new and cosy. Clean hotel with good location, almost near the ocean.Swimming pool was clean as well.
Breakfast had wide variety of choices, room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Free parking available on the street. Loro park in within a walking distance.
Our room was located in a place that required quite a long walk (which not a huge deal for us, but may be for some with small kids or people with moving challenges). Breakfast was quite crowded. FYI Nearby beach was closed due to contamination.
enough choices for breakfast, big rooms, big hotel, lots of space, nice neighbourhood, close to the ocean
i made the reservation more than 2 months in advance thinking it would be a better price, but one month before the trip the price was significantly lower
The location was good, just outside of the busy part and close to the bus station. We didn’t spend much time at the pool but went out to explore the stunning island. So we weren’t there for all the amenities of the hotel. So I’d say it way all just fine!
If there’s one thing to complain about it is the reception (only the male) staff. I’ve had four interactions with three different males, from check in, check out to some questions and they are just so unfriendly and rude. Wake up .. you work in hospitality mate, give people a good time and I’m sure you’ll have a better day as well. At check out, they didn’t even ask, did you had a good time or ask for feedback. Not sure what education these guys got ?♂️ I’m not coming back because for that reason. Sorry!
Very nice facilities, very diverse breakfast, and snack lounge bar for My Favourite Club guests was very good. There were nice additional activities for guests, such as archery, that you could take part in. Table tennis was also very nice to have there.Staff were overall nice and helpful.
There was some issue with one of the beds in our room as it was not fully stable and kept moving a bit when sleeping (the beds had wheels for easy moving).
