- Room with a view over the sea
- Lovely room - whilst we had the "mountain view" rather than the sea view this was a really nice view over banana plantations tot he mountains behind. Excellent location literally a stones throw from the beach and with restaurants and shops an easy walk. Breakfast was excellent.
- The hotel enjoys a prime location right on the oceanfront in Valle Gran Rey. It sits just steps from a charming seaside promenade, within easy walking distance of several beaches, and only a five-minute drive from the harbor where whale-watching excursions depart. A number of cafés and restaurants are also nearby, and several supermarkets and additional dining options are just a short drive away. The property has three floors, with guest rooms on the first two levels. A large rooftop pool occupies the third floor, where breakfast is also served each morning. On the ground floor, there is an additional dining room offering a buffet dinner (€20 per person) for those who wish to dine in.The overall atmosphere in the area is youthful and welcoming, and that pleasant energy is felt throughout the hotel. Our room was spacious, certainly not new, but very well maintained and clean. The bed, though not particularly large, was exceptionally comfortable. The bathroom was roomy and functioned perfectly. The room also included air-conditioning, a small refrigerator, a hairdryer, and decent Wi-Fi. There is a safe, though as this is a three stars property, the key costs €5 for up to 24 hours.Parking can be a challenge in the evening. There is a large public lot next to the hotel and free street parking, but after around 5 p.m. the area fills up quickly. Fortunately, the hotel offers private parking behind the building for the very reasonable price of €4 per day, an excellent solution if you arrive later in the day.Breakfast is served on the third floor in a very spacious dining area, with the added bonus of a terrace that overlooks the Atlantic, a wonderful way to start the morning. The breakfast itself is excellent and varied, offering pastries, cheeses, cold cuts, yogurt, jams, made-to-order eggs, several coffee machines, and a fresh orange juice press.Service throughout the hotel is friendly and efficient.
Cons -
- Breakfast was good but chaotic. Queues for coffee and a la carte restaurant was shut.

Beautiful view of the Atlantic. Never needed our automobile. Simply easy and amazing. Every wish was delivered.
Air conditioning was a bit too weak.
Superb quiet location almost on the beach - fab bar to watch waves crashing & stunning sunset - soaring mountain views at back of hotel - hardly any traffic - stars at night - excellent breakfast on the balcony in the sea breeze - super seafood restaurants a short walk away - free parking outside front door - well worth the treacherous journey over the amazing mountains - perfect spot to spend your birthday

Location was good. Staff were helpful. Hotel had nice ambience.
Very nicely appointed modern hotel in an excellent location. Heated rooftop pool at 24C is a highlight when sea temperature is a cool 19C. Good buffet breakfast in the top floor bar/restaurant.
Quality of lunchtime 3rd floor bar catering and also basement buffet poor. Fortunately there are some good restaurants nearby.
Very nice hotel. The meals were delicious. We also used the pool and enjoyed it a lot.
Although Hotel Gran Rey doesn't represent the height of luxury, you will quickly appreciate its very many plus points. The rooms are very comfortable, and you will discover that everything is in the right place and everything (bathroom, shower, hot water, sockets for example) just works perfectly. The view is to die for, of course, and the staff are excellent. The buffet breakfast offers a wide choice and you can eat on the terrace, enjoying a view of the sea. There is a car park, but then it's easy to walk to each end of Valle Gran Rey.
The breakfast was pretty great with a fresh orange juice press. The pool on the roof is of a nice size. The rooms and beds are also good.
We had a dinner here once. It did not compare to the good breakfast they serve.
Breakfast was very good with all of the options and more. The staff (Claire, Carmen, Irene, Carlos, Vladamir, Cesar and the rest) for the morning breakfast were all very helpful, efficient and friendly and hard working. Ciara at the front desk was also very helpful with all that we needed.
There was a smoker in the next room and when they were on their balcony the smoke would drift into our room which was off putting as we aren't smokers.
Great location. We had a lovely balcony in front of the sea.The reception lady Kiera was exceptionally friendly , efficient and just lovely. Ladies cleaning out room daily were so friendly and efficient.
The breakfast was so very crowded. Survival of the fittest.

Fantastic location. Great breakfast on the roof overlooking the sea. Clean and comfortable rooms.
Excellent position, good view, good breakfast.
Disgusted to see fellow guests removing large amounts of food from the breakfast buffet, some blatantly making rolls and sandwiches for their lunch. Suggest hotel puts up signs advising guests that they are welcome to eat as much as they like at breakfast but not to remove any food for later consumption.
Wonderful room with sea view and sound of the ocean. Very good breakfast buffet, gluten free bread provided (although not very nice), but staff unable to say if granola or porridge were gluten free. Lovely roof terrace for breakfast and bar and also pool.
No water dispensers provided to fill water bottles, so lots of plastic bottles have to be purchased.
We had a lovely room with a mountain view and it was very comfortable and clean. The breakfast was extremely good. We loved the seafront location and the roof-top swimming pool.
The only small thing (in common with many hotels) was that the coffee at breakfast (from a machine) was not good. A coffee machine in the bedroom would have been a great addition!
The rooftop pool is big enough for a bit of a swim and the views of mountains and sea are spectacular. We had a sea facing room and slept to the sound of waves breaking over the beach. This side faces west with stunning sunsets. A very good breakfast buffet with a terrace overlooking the sea.
The evening meal is ok, served in a restaurant that is part underground. There are many bars and restaurants nearby as an alternative.
Great location. Very clean hotel with good facilities, including an excellent rooftop pool. Breakfast was very good quality and can be taken on the terrace with superb views. Also enjoyed the entertainment.
No kettle in the room. Breakfast was very busy, perhaps a shift system would help?
Beachfront, very good breakfast and meals, free parking in front of hotel. Excellent room and bathroom. Friendly staff.
Nothing except we had to wake up earlier than we normally would on holiday, so as not to miss breakfast, served until 10am.
