About
Parador de Hondarribia is set in an impressive 10th-century castle overlooking the Bidasoa Estuary. It has a charming courtyard terrace and another terrace with fantastic views. The beautiful castle includes original arches and features such as suits of armor, cannons and spears. There are banquet rooms, courtyards and other charming spaces where you can relax with a drink from the bar. The modern rooms at the Parador feature wooden floors. Each room comes with a flat-screen TV, a safe and a mini-bar. The private bathroom includes a hairdryer. A daily buffet breakfast is served in the café. There are many good seafood restaurants within a short walk in Hondarribia. The seafront promenade is just 820 feet from Parador de Honidarribia, and the beach is 1.2 mi away. San Sebastián is a 20-minute drive away, and you can drive to Biarritz in 35 minutes.

- Gorgeous interior spaces. Very friendly and helpful staff. Perfect location. Such a unique stay and we're so glad we chose the parador!
- The view was incredible. The location allowed us to walk everywhere. The parking was on property, which is very nice. The history of the property makes the stay extra special. The room was excellent, the bed very comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was adequate, nothing special. I would highly recommend this location.
- The staff was friendly and efficient. The decor, the location, the view were all better than we expected.
Cons -
- Beds were very firm, but that's just not our preference. Otherwise everything was wonderful.
- This is the 7th parador we’ve stayed in and we wanted to love it. But we didn’t. It was high season so we paid 500€/night (including breakfast and parking) so our expectations were high. The room smelled like cigarette smoke, had chipped & peeling paint and in general was quite dark. Yes, we had a partial view to the sea, but that was out of one small window. Otherwise, the room was cave-like. It feels strange giving this fabulous Parador average marks, but they could have just done so much better with the details and maintenance.
- Room 2 was very near the kitchen and at 6 in the morning it was very noisy.Hospitality tray was uninspiring.

The building itself and the town are MAGNIFICENT. What a piece of history and architecture to experience. And the little town of Hondarribia is picture perfect, one which we hope to return to next summer. It was magic.

Position , hotel with historyComfortable beds and quality towels in bathroom.

Spacious room, fantastic view. Very atmospheric.
Breakfast area didn’t seem adequate for number of guests, staff struggled to turn over the tables.
Lovely historical hotel in a unique setting. The staff were friendly and accommodatin. This is just first class
Amazing building full of authentic furniture and objects.
beds a little bit hard for me. Checking out seemed to take a long time but no problem really.
Beautiful location, such magnificent views. The building is unique, part ruins, part restored
Hard beds and it so needs a restaurant
A perfect stay in a historic beautiful building.
Description how to get to the hotel by car is not good.
Great breakfast and location
They didnt say that the parking was 20 euros a night on the website or prior infoThe lights in the room has to be activated by our room card. We were not told about this when we arrived and had to go and find someone to tell us. Felt that reception should have told us this when we first arrived
Exceptional, historic luxury and authentic architecture. We stayed two years ago and were so impressed. I had forgotten the half of how spectacular this place is. It has a warm and even temperature throughout despite being a fort/ castle. I am sure King Carlos and Napoleon didn't have this much luxury. For all its grandeur such as embossed sheets and towels, this parador is informal, friendly and peaceful. The breakfast choice is first class and a lovely mix of waited on service and self service. We splashed out for our wedding anniversary near Christmas and the hotel decorations were simple and stunning.
I loved everything. I like that it doesn't have a pool or restaurant, it makes it more authentic and more like a castle than a hotel. The small cafe/ sack area is perfect.
location and spacious well appointed room
The fact it was in a castle - pretty cool. The breakfast was really good and the view on the terrace lovely. The reception staff were really great.
I understand that the rooms have to be like they are to maintain the integrity of the building (where the windows are and the size/shape of the room), but for the price, it was not a good return on investment.
amazing facility and location
parking a bit of a challenge but doable
great facility and the staff were helpful.
On one occasion we could not get a taxi to come up to the parador.
Lovely property and the room and view were great.
We were disappointed by the catering. On arrival we were given a breakfast time of 815. When we arrived at 815 the tables were all being cleared, noisily. We felt in the way and this was the case throughout breakfast. The coffee was poor and d there wasNo butter, only margerine. This is not acceptable for what is supposed to be a top hotel.TheCoffee in the room was also poor quality. It was the worst breakfast we have had in Spain and let down what was otherwise a lovely place.
Good position in the old town, in a lovely old building.
No dinner available, staff a little unhelpful and overpriced.
It was what we were looking for. Room 106 was perfect for our needs.
Nothing to dislike in our case. We found the staff were extremely efficient and friendly.
What an absolute pleasure it was to stay at this magnificent Parador. Our room had a sea view and was a Junior Suite. It was just perfect. The staff were so accommodating and even helped us with learning a little Basque language and sharing some of the history of the area. Being celiac, the breakfast more than accommodated for me which was a bonus. We loved loved loved our stay!!
nothing!
