Discovery Parks - Pilbara, Karratha

It was lovely to arrive and the air conditioning be turned on and the room cool.

The bathroom was old but it was clean so not really an issue.

Air conditioner was an old piece of crap that was so loud it couldnt be slept with on.Dripping toilet.

The shower pressure

Dirty, bad smell when we walked in turned the air conditioners off as it was them tried to open windows to let fresh air in and the windows were filthy also heaps of leaf matter built up which came into room. Front door dodgy kept getting stuck shut thought we were locked in at one stage.

Staff were super friendly whenever I went into the offices and were able to help with most of my queries. Rooms were clean and well appointed with what you would need for either a short or long stay depending on what accomodation you choose.

Television reception was terrible

Easy to find & access to shops & fuel. Quiet & secure.

The location was good.

The shower was either to hot or to cold and constantly fluctuating and it was very stressful when trying to shower our 2 year old. The couch didn’t appear to be clean as there were stains on it and it was sticky to touch. The dishwashing liquid didn’t create any kind of suds and left dishes still feeling oily no matter how much was used. We ended up getting our own dishwashing liquid.

Nice & quiet.

Room was hot during day and freezing at night.

Except we had no air conditioning in the open plan living area , called complained and maintenance came out twice and nothing was repaired , so we had a hot environment as the Pilbara is extreme

Unit was messy and not maintained had cockraces coming out from under stove.

It was conveniently located

It was extremely hot inside the room. The aircon was on and had cold air if you put your hand close up but the cold air didn’t travel anywhere. I had to go out and buy 2 pedestal fans to put near the bed so we could sleep otherwise it would have been very uncomfortable to get to sleep. For the price of the room, I didn’t expect to be uncomfortable. We are used to heat living in Darwin and this was was still uncomfortable.

Our cabin was disappointing. Hot water on and off every 10 seconds in the shower. All soap, shampoo and conditioner bottles in the bathroom were empty. No tea towel to dry dishes. Floors were filthy. One bed had very stained linen.

Everything. We always stay here .. sometimes we don't get the room we want. The main thing is we get a goodnight rest before we head out to work.

The car park is stupid .. I absolutely hate it

We don't like to complain but on entering our room there was water all over the floor. The fridge was turned off and defrosted leaving the fridge full of water and all over the floor. I had to use our cabin towels to clean the excessive amount of water up. On moving the fridge to clean up water it was filthy behind. There was no body wash in the shower dispensers. The shower was orange, leaving me to drive and get something to clean the shower after discovering what I thought was calcium was actually scum. There's no hand soaps in amanities toilets and no plugs in sinks to wash dishes even though their on water restrictions and no hand soap in amanities. The camp kitchen was absolutely filthy with food in every crevice. The only thing that saved a zero was the bed was amazing.

The staff were friendly

The cabin was not cleaned well and smelled of disinfectant.The door was hard to unlock and lock. The main air con unit was not working properly. The tv remote was missing so tv couldn’t be used. The oven and grill were broken and couldn’t be used. The shower head was broken. There was a dirty sock in the wardrobe. No soap in the soap dispensers and no detergent in the detergent packets.This was a room I’d paid to get upgraded as our experience two weeks before was poor also. Overall not great.

Passable

The cabin wasn't ready at 4.30pm when check in was supposed to be from 2pm. The cabin hadn't been deep cleaned in months.

The unit was clean and everything I needed was there - the linen and pillows were excellent.

The humidity was off the scale on my first day on site - the AC was a very old unit and barely cooling a 30cm radius and the ceiling fan was on winter mode. When I approached the owner he was so helpful and had the ceiling fan turned onto summer mode and provided a pedestal fan to help me out. Not much he could do about the AC then and there but new units are on order.

Toilet was not flushing and the kettle in the morning was a defect..I almost scolded myself making a cup of tea It continues to boil..I had to turn off at power point
