the Black Dolphin Holiday Park

Location was perfect - in between the beach and the lake and walking distance to the city centre. Our actual accommodation was great, amenities within the apartment we exactly as described. The staff were great - we ended our stay a couple days early due to terrible weather (severe rain and flash flooding warnings), and the staff were nice enough to offer us a credit to come back when the weather was better!

Only 2 items which were a negative with this stay - the internet/wifi at the establishment was poor. Granted we are meant to be on holiday and not on our phones/laptops, but we couldn't even watch anything on the TV at night as the internet connection wasn't ever stable. I couldn't load anything on my mobile for emails or social media... The other issue, which was half fault, was the double bed... We should've looked at a room with a larger bed (our fault), but the bed itself wasn't very comfortable. The only other thing to mention is that the accommodation is also a caravan park and very family orientated - this wasn't an issue for us but some people may have a problem with this!

Near beach

Aircon didn't work and there was no communication until the 4th day.. the room was clean but we stayed for 6 days and towels and rooms.were not cleaned. At least 3rd day

The renovation of the Black Dolphin is wonderful. The fresh pastries for breakfast were delicious. Love the room and bathroom decor and the beautiful natural shampoo, conditioner and hand soap. The outdoor area was a bonus. Its our new favourite place to stay in Merimbula. Thank you for bringing the Black Dolphin back to the essence of the original Boyd design. Cant wait to see how you renovate the pool area and dining room.

Great walking access to the beach and lake. Good fish 'n chips nearby. Handy to the airport. Pretty quiet. Nice new cabins.

No breakfast included. The facilities were excellent.

There was a lot of building noise from local building works at 7am onwards in the morning.

Nice elevated rooms, with a kitchen. It had everything you needed.

Bedroom was cold at night, despite having the heating on in the central room. Probably should have closed the bedroom door so as to keep the heat in.

Location was amazing, and distance to beach and town was excellent. Many paths to the beach and also in summer the facilities would be great with kids/families. Cabin kitchen was good, and it was a good base to venture from. For a summer experience, it seems great, colder months - research which cabin is best.

The curtains were quite flimsy and prone to gaping which was not great, so had to adjust a bit sometimes, especially as the wind kicked up and some small drafts came thru. Bed was a bit on small side and compared to last time I stayed here, things did seem more tiny, from bathroom to bed itself. Bed did not seem massively comfortable and even with heater on the doona/quilt/duvet was quite thin so we were still quite cold.We did go in early Autumn, there was a terrific storm and wind that night too - there seemed little insulation on the cabin.If we stayed again, I would reconsider this type of cabin perhaps.

This place was huge and clean. Nice beds and couches.

Clean, good sized cabin for a family of 5 with tween/teenage kids. Great facilities. Excellent location.

Smelly motel rooms, definitely not good value for money.Not recommended if you are travelling with kids.

Location was perfect, short stroll to the water, kids play space was amazing loved the heated pool.

The mould in the shower and the noise from the people upstairs dragging their chairs.

The location was perfect and the facilities for young kids were amazing!

It would be nice for the cabins to have proper blinds in the living areas. We stayed in a beachcomber cabin and had a protect for our 1 year old. The only place to put the cot was the kitchen/living area and the blinds in there let all the light in at nighttime.

The waterpark and mostly the water slides were fun and how they put up stalls (I even got tattoos for 1 doller)

That in the waterpark the bucket wasn't filling and the place with the bucket was stopping randomly. The water in 2 of the pools was freezing cold.

Location close to the beach and nice walk to other side. Very peaceful.

Shower water temp was either ice cold or scorching hot.

The staff were amazing, the facility’s in the park were amazing and the location was great.

In the motel rooms you can hear everything which was hard and the undercover areas outside would flood from the top deck when there was rain

Beds were very uncomfortable.

Loved all the facilities and kids activities. Communication through text to update on anything about the park or upcoming events

3 minute walk over to the main beach and 5 minute stroll around to Cranky Cafe for amazing breakfasts with the best fish & chips and hamburgers next to it for dinner. The bed was very comfortable too. Great walks to everything. Great for camera enthusiasts especially sunrise on the beach.

Unfortunately the room had no ventilation especially the bathroom ( motel room 27) so had to keep door open for shower. Kept screen door locked, glass door open at night as it got too warm, didn't access AC as it was noisy. Fridge froze food on top shelf, even on lowest temp. Kettle was very brown inside, boiled water was brown so I deep cleaned it and it was ok then, tasted like noodle or pasta water beforehand. Younger guests nearby loud at night. Close to airport so planes are low and often in the day. Not enough power points, cooked toast in bathroom. TV remote worked on and off, mute button broken. Room out dated. But over all OK.

Room was very spacious and the beds were comfortable. The lady that checked us in was absolutely lovely and assured us that no matter the time the staff at the park were always on hand to help!

There were a few stains on the carpet and the room was quite dark but nothing that affected our stay:) it was great for one night

Overall, we absolutely loved our stay and will definitely be back again . Loved the amenities provided and the location was perfect/beautiful spot.close to everything, Beach, shops & a servo on the corner.
