Pros +
- Great base for exploring Yambaru National Park, birding, hiking. Staff are excellent.
- Great value, friendly staff , delicious food in a truly unique rural hotel. Staff took us out to see the rare Okinawa rail bird at night and were so helpful. Very different from the over development prevalent in Okinawa.
- Amazing location in the jungle where you can listen and see the Okinawa Rail birds, if you are lucky like we were. The staff took us out after dinner and found not one but two Okinawa rails, perching in their favorite tree spots. We also saw giant bats right behind the hotel. Amazing!! Dinner was also excellent. The staff were all absolutely wonderful!
Cons -
- property was quite dated and rooms slightly squeezy.
- Too far away from Naha airport but if you just want to be close to the nature, it’s not a big deal.
- The room is a bit dated And the sound isolation is not very good. Breakfast has only Japanese option.

quiet surroundings. had a very friendly pet pig!
property was quite dated and rooms slightly squeezy.
The hotel is in the middle of jungle of Yanbaru National park. It is quite far away from Naha airport. It’s better if you rent a car. Taxi is quite expensive. There are buses from Naha airport in the morning till early afternoon but you might need to change 4-5 buses. The hotel itself is big, with balcony. The hotel is bit old but very clean. Everything works. You can have traditional Okinawa meals. The laundry and coffee is free in the main lobby. They have small pet pig, so cute. You can also watch for Kuina bird. They have electric bike for rent which was so good. I biked to Kujna center and saw Kuina bird. There is also a village close by and convenient store. The staffs are very nice.

Great location. Very good dinner - provided me vegeterian option.
The room is a bit dated And the sound isolation is not very good. Breakfast has only Japanese option.
Lovely, rustic hotel in the middle of the national park. Staff was excellent and talkative. We saw the Okinawa Rail sleeping in the trees, an owl and the little boar in the reception :) Rooms are classic but comfortable. Dinner and breakfast was great.
Short drive to beaches for good night photography. We saw Kuina in the wild on the hotel grounds.
A few ants in the bathroom.
Spacious room and comfortable beds
Ants and a dead cockroach in room
I chose this place for its remote location in the Yambaru Forest. It was also so close to the Yanbaru Kuina center. The dinner and breakfast were exceptional. I was even able to leave the doors open (they had screens) and could hear gentle forest noises all night. It was a great stay. And I was surprised by the pet teacup pig. He was my favorite! Very polite staff that were helpful.
If anything, the property is slightly dated, but it matches the forest vibe. Overall, I’d happily stay here again!
Lovely staff, service, and good restaurant for dinner, must prebook though. Rooms were neat and clean. Good facilities with the vending machines.
This place is perfect for any birdwatcher aiming at seeing the Okinawa endemics and who want to treat themselves with comfort. The Hotel location is quite remote, meaning that you can see Okinawa Rails sleeping opposite to the hotel, Okinawa Woodpeckers and Flying Fox feeding at the hotel’s entrance! This also means that for those without a car like myself, it can be difficult (but not impossible) to reach. You’ll get delicious Asian breakfast, and booking dinner was also a good idea because there are no restaurants in walking distance. The staff are very helpful and kind, making very worthwhile the experience. 10/10 recommend it.
Considering it's the only option in miles you'd expect it to take advantage of that but it was great. The receptionist was very nice and well exceeded my expectations by taking a few of us out a night to see a Okinawa rail. Full laundry facilities and a whole row of vending machines if you get desperate to eat something. The hotel has lots of solid wood fittings and feels like something from the peak real estate Showa-era - very rare anywhere else in Japan and was a pleasure to stay in. It is definitely showing it's age but I would 100% come back.
The hotel is old, and it does show in someways. Overall though the building has lots of charm and I didn't mind it being a bit older than most hotels.
First night dinner was a little disappointing. There was not any nature walking area within the hotel facilities. But we were very happy next day. Got a chance to view beautiful sunrise, enjoy birds’ singing, eat a delicious breakfast. Just enjoyed the quote and peaceful time there until we caught free shuttle bus to reach our next destination.
A hotel right in the heart of Yanbaru National Park . even though it only has three stars but it feels luxurious. The best shower I’ve ever had. dinner and breakfast we’re both very nice and properly served. free laundry is a bonus.
The hotel and rooms were authentic which was nice after staying in bigger cities with hotel chains rather than independent in and around mainland Japan and Okinawa
It’s a very nice location and probably the only hotel in the area. Food was excellent but needed ordering the day before.
It felt like being in a hostel at 4/5* hotel prices.
Great forest location, I was travelling by bicycle so it was a nice place to relax & enjoy the environment, beaches and forest. Cozy, friendly staff, meals were very good- traditional Japanese breakfast & I ordered a vegetable/ fish evening meals. The hotel is traditional and charming.
I had such a wonderful stay. The building is beautiful, designed in Vietnamese-style. Everyone was so friendly and attentive. I felt welcome. The remote location was refreshing after a long bike ride up the coast and around the cape, and I was able to store my bicycle inside. The traditional Japanese breakfast and dinner were truly remarkable. And the chef was able to accommodate my vegan diet. I was impressed with the presentation as much as the flavor. Just be sure to place your request the day before, because each meal is made to order. You can choose your dining time during check-in.The room was spacious and comfortable, with a small balcony and a lived-in, rustic charm that I loved. Notable details include: ornate wooden doors and accents, as well as wooden floors. There are vending machines stocked with beer, tea, snacks, and cup noodles. The laundry machines are free of charge. It was a terrific getaway and a much-needed chance to rest and recover. I highly recommend it!
I was hoping to catch a glimpse of a Japanese Rail (a near flightless bird), but they proved to be elusive. Perhaps the staff have some useful tips!? Of course, I didn't think of that until just now...
Quiet, dark and very peaceful - in the middle of the natural forest preserve. The staff was friendly and helpful and all amenities in the room worked perfectly. Thanks for our stay :)
Just would have liked to be able to order dishes ( tampin) from the menu,
