Hotel Sunroute Hikone

We booked this hotel at short notice and got a good rate. The hotel was very nice with the staff very friendly albeit not much English was spoken. But that's ok we managed very well. Rooms were adequate, small but comfortable. The hotel is just a short walk from the train station with lots of food outlets close by.

It was a shame that the cocktail bar downstairs had what I thought to be a hefty cover change to just go in and have a drink.

Small room but nice enough for sleeping and relaxing. The quality of the bed and the shower is great, I will come back to stay there again :) my mom loves there, too. Very satisfied.

A little bit too warm in the room.

This hotel is right around the corner from Hikone Station and a 10 min walk to Hikone Castle. They offer a complimentary breakfast and even have bikes to rent so you can explore Hikone and check out Lake Biwa. Not to mention, they even have a golf simulator that hotel guests can use at a discounted price.

It was near the train station and basically in the central of everything important. Staff was really lovely.

I dont know if that is my fault for not reading probably but as breakfast you get a fixed menu and can get something from the buffet additionally. As a picky eater I it wasnt really for me so I skipped it on the other days.

Great location almost next to Hikone Train Station. Breakfast was decent. Lots of great places to eat at around the corner. Even laundry facilities.

Unable to control temperature from the room.It was so bad that I forfeited my last night just to get clean air.

It was really close to station and a nice short walk to a castle and town too. It was clean, convenient, and had lovely, friendly, and helpful staff. There were a lot of cute souvenirs you could buy as well in the lobby. We only stayed one night so didn’t take advantage of all the things they offered but we were very happy with our stay. The rooms were bright and not too small :)

Hotel was very close to the train station, which was convenient. We arrived before check-in so they held our bags for us until we returned. Staff was helpful and friendly. Free water (and maybe coffee?) in the lobby area was nice on a hot day. Only stayed one night, and the hotel was fine for our stay.

Typical of Japanese hotels, the bathroom was very small and tight, with no place to put anything. Carpet between beds was ripped and torn.

The breakfast was not free but inexpensive and worth paying: the atmosphere and food quality and service quality were so good. So far the best out of all the hotels equivalent priced ones I stayed in Japan for this time.

The lobby, room and hotel workers were very nice. But the bed was a bit hard and also I wish I was able to use a full or queen size not a twin. (They gave me 2 twin size bed room.)

Great location. And a great idea to offer Bicycles.

A rather annoying shower head, that can’t be angled down nicely.

Very near to station! And situated opposite a mall where there’s daiso and a supermarket so overall it’s a super convenient spot. The breakfast spread (Japanese breakfast set topped with buffet spread) was tasty and good value for money. The room was bigger than usual Japanese hotel sizes we saw in the past and comfortable space overall. View was good too

Location a block from the station is very convenient. 15 Minutes walk to the Hikone castle. Functional hotel for short stay.

Breakfast buffet very limited.

Perfect location to explore Shiga and the Lake Biwa. Plenty of good restaurants around.

The rooms are old compared to newer business hotels…

Super close to the station, the konbini and not too far from the beach !Everything, the service and staff were really great!

The location was excellent. What made our stay exceptional was the Salon Bar Thistle. Shorji was the BEST Senior Tequila specialist in the world!!!

Great location next to station and price appropriate to room size.

The female staff who checked me in and out was not so polite or friendly.
