Thoulasith Guesthouse

We had a two nights stopover before and after going to the jungle. The location was in general really good.

Even though I completely understand that the city is quite far away from everything else and due to covid there have not been a lot of tourists, I was still quite disappointed. The bathroom was really dirty and hadn't been cleaned for months. The water was cold and the bed sheets were still dirty.

Close to restaurants and the hiking offices, nice kitchen and lunch area to come together with other guests; bed was really comfortable

Noise of the main street traffic; could be cleaned more accurately, some furniture needed to be repaired

The staff was helpful, when the key card to our room stopped working they worked quite hard to fix it.

we booked it because it was the only option on booking, it turned out there are cheaper and better guesthouses around. Its an ok place to stay but the room wasnt very clean

The location was very good. Plenty of places to eat and book activities right outside the property. The rooms are basic without being dumpy and the architecture of the building is quite charming. I think it's probably one of the better places to stay in Luang Namtha. The value for money is pretty good if you're on a budget.

Though I liked my room, they were a few spots where it wasn't completely sealed off from the outside, specifically the fan in the bathroom (it looked like it was blowing in air from outside) and the windows (if you opened them, the screen was ripped in a few places). I had some issues with ants and mosquitos getting into my room. It was also a bit muggy, which made it very difficult to dry anything (clothes, towels, etc).

The staff seemed friendly enough and it was very central.

Only found out about the free water refills on the last day!! Wouldn't use the kitchen for anything else other than refilling water, very grubby.Rooms are grubby too and although there's a sign to say they change your towels, they don't. Different prices for different guests broadcast over the reception whiteboard.People smoke outside your room and it travels into your room making it stink of smoke.There's a 10pm curfew but it isn't enforced meaning people play music and sing along at midnight.Our bin wasn't changed after the previous guest which is gross.Didn't rebook for after our 3 day hike.

location was good- not a massive amount to do in luang namtha, but it is close to the night market and a restaurant called Lais place which is nice. we booked our jungle trek/ kayak through Si who works for discover Laos and bases himself at the hotel- he was great! staff were friendly and stored our bags when we stayed overnight in the jungle

The room was really unclean even basics- the table being sticky & having food from previous guests left on it, which meant lots of ants. Was expensive for what it was, we paid $45 for 2 nights, then paid $30 for one night when we returned from the jungle- we have been paying half that price for better accom in Thailand & Laos. REALLY NOISEY- not sure if thats inconsiderate guests? they have tables & chairs right outside your room, so people sit and chat endlessly/ play loud music on their phones till silly oclockfine for what we needed but if you can book in advance go elsewhere!

The staff helped us to book a jungletrekking. That was very nice. He also booked train tickets for us to our next destination which was very nice. We also had some souvenirs that we wanted to send to another hotel where we would go. He also helped us a lot with that. The service was very good.

There was a very big spider in our bathroom haha.

The room was clean and there was housekeeping service daily. The location is in the city center close to motorcycle rentals, restaurants, ATMs - everything that Luang Namtha has to offer.

The accommodation is close to "THE HIKER | COMMUNITY-BASED ECO-TOURISM" with whom we went the next morning for a three-day trek. We only slept here the night before the trek and everything was comfortable. Although we did not have any further reservations, the extremely nice and friendly staff allowed us to take a shower after three days of wildlife before continuing the trip, for which we are very grateful. All in all wonderful people :)

Accommodation does not have a restaurant, but breakfast is available in restaurants within a minute or two and are open from 7 am. :)

Clean and nice room

One guy at reception was very unfriendly and speaking bad English.

The building is next to many shops and travel agencies.

The staff is useless and unfriendly: they are just there to give the keys and get them back (if they are there!) So then they can go back and lay down somewhere and play their phone.Rooms are poorly equiped, with low quality items. The bed was noisy, and if there is a TV with many channels, the reception is so bad that you cant watch them. Wifi was weak.There is a kind of outside place to cook or do your coffee, so it summarizes well the place: you pay, you get a key, and then deal with yourself.

- clean and spacious room- hot shower- free water refills for your own bottle- nice staff that speaks English - good location on main street next to all the trekking agencies and restaurants - beds are okay, pillows a bit too high and stiff

- No fridge in the room or in their free to use kitchen- Noisy from 6 am onwards as neighbor fires up his radio and there's a big ventilation hatch that cannot be closed.

Location was great, the rooms were comfortable, and showers hot

Reception staff glued to their mobile phones and did not pay any attention to the guests

Nice hot showers, clean and decent sized room, good base for going trekking, great location, free water refills.

Staff seemed slightly disorganised with regards to booking ongoing bus journey

Friendly Stuff, booked our bus for the next stop at the guesthouse. Good location.

There were some noisy other guests in the morning

HUGE bed for just one person, located close to the morning market and all the trekking companies as well as restaurants.

Front desk wasn't always manned such that the rotating staff had various levels of English proficiency. I actually got into an argument with one about me not paying for my stay which is (and had been) always settled while checking in. He decided while I was checking out to "confront" me about me not paying for my stay while I was waiting for my van back to Nong Khiaw. Mind you, this was AFTER I had to ask for my money back for laundry service that never occurred. Thankfully he let me go before it escalated but this event + my laundry not being done unfortunately soured my experience which would've been a great stay. Also the shower curtain was broken in my room. Not that I really needed it as I was staying alone, but it was still jarring when it fell.

Super Noisy!!!

-3 French junkies was smoking puff in front of our door steep which was supposed to be our terrace so we got all their dirty smoke inside our room, I had to told them off!-I mentioned that to the staff but they didnt care!!-No insulation so you will here everything from the terrace and when someone shut the door-On the top of that you will be awake by cockerel!

Friendly staff, nice and quiet room for this price. If you want you can use the kitchen.
