Velar Hotel Con Dao - Vung Tau

We had a wonderful stay at the Velar. It is a newer hotel so all the furnishing were nice and new. The bed was very comfortable and our room had a very nice view of the ocean and the mountains. We were in room 401. The staff here is so kind and friendly. English is limited but we used google translate and had no problems. You can have your laundry done there for 50,000 VND per kilo. We rented a scooter for 150,000 VND a day. The beach is a short stroll across the street were there is a nice beach restaurant and bar. Breakfast was included in our room rate and it was so good. If the hotel was not busy it was a la carte with a choice of either Vietnamese soup (Pho) or american breakfast of eggs, bacon , toast and both came with yogurt and fruit and coffee tea and juice. When the hotel has enough people it is a full on buffett with both viet and american options and you can still order Pho and eggs anyway you like them. Beach towel were available if you asked for them.

Sometimes we didn't have hot water but it wasn't freezing cold either. Not sure if that was a hotel problem or an island problem. It was hot enough on the island that a cool shower felt nice.

Staff were really helpful in organising trips. The hotel is 1 minute walk from a lovely beach. Room was clean and modern. Great value for money.

breakfast was good and to my surprise we did get breakfast everyday. Location was oakay.

We booked a room with a balcony total waste of money . The balcony had two large plant pots on it so you could not sit out there .

New hotel, very clean. Exactly as on the photos. The bathroom is new and clean. The location is just 5 min walk to the beach. We liked everything.

Modern hotel with clean, comfortable rooms. Good air conditioning. Close to the beach.

Pool is really only for show but the beach is only a 2 minute walk away, so it doesn’t matter.

Very clean and new. We felt very comfortable in the room. The location is a bit out of the center (10 min walk) but close to a beach. We expected it to be more quiet because of this, but there was a restaurant with some noise (but ok). The staff is super friendly, but only a few speak English.

there are the party every night on the restaurant which located next to our hotel. So we couldn't sleep very well. It was so loud that I could feel the vibrations.

It was clean , nicely furnished. I loved the bufet breakfast. 200 m walk to the most beautifful beach on the island.

The hotel room was a bit small. The bed was a bit too soft for my liking (however it is about my personal preference).

Motorbike rental, cleanliness, personnel, beds and mattresses, location.

Some rooms have no windows and are poorly ventilated.

The hotel was ok, BUT after the first day we had to change room because the AC had broken down, and in the next room the bed was full of BED BUGS. Terrible experience!

Within 200mts of a good beach..airport shuttle cheap and easy to arrange

The staff go out of their way to make sure everything is to your liking. The hotel is almost new and the rooms are very well thought out , clean and comfortable. Quiet.

We thought it would be beachfront.

Nice and clean hotel with a very comfortable bed. We loved our stay at the Velar Hotel. There is a close distance to cafes etc and you can always rent a bike from the hotel. I Highly recommend this place for your next stay.

Breakfast was not available although promised with the booking

Breakfast was not served and no discount or arrangements were made. Staff spoke no English and was almost always unavailable. Room cleaning started around 7 am, very noisy.

Great staff, that helped with everything. Good scooter rental. Rooms were one of the best we had in Vietnam.

Not perfectly isolated for sounds from the inside corridors. But that’s really if you want to find anything that isn’t perfect.
