    Pros +

    • Beautiful old Haveli in the center of town. Easy walk to everything. The staff are amazing - friendly and very helpful. They have a very nice rooftop restaurant and the food is excellent.
    • The location is within walking distance to Lake Pichola. The room was appropriate for a short visit in the heart of everything. The bathroom was a good size, with tub and shower accommodations. The staff was very helpful and went overboard to make us feel welcomed.
    • Breakfast had limited options. Shaheen and the chef were extremely warm and kind, but the food itself lacked a hotel breakfast experience one looks forward to, and for the price you pay for this stay it felt underwhelming. My recommendation to the owners would be to develop a more extensive breakfast menu as well as offer a buffet style option.

    Cons -

    • Due to the nature of Havelis, the accommodation is a little more rustic than in a brand new hotel. The charm far outweighs that issue in my opinion.
    • We would suggest the option for more air ventilation in the room.
    • The room amenities and toiletries were also underwhelming. There was no vanity kit, no cotton pads/ Q-tips, the soap/ shampoo / quality was okay at best; there was no body wash in the room. There also is no coffee / nespresso machine in the room for travellers who prefer to take coffee in the am.

A little hard to get to.

A gorgeous historical building in the magnificent city of Udaipur, and close to the palace and lake. Staying here really feels like experiencing a little piece of history with some lovely personalised little touches. The rooftop and restaurant is the highlight of this property - it is absolutely gorgeous, so tastefully created - and the food is excellent. We had lovely, quirky, cosy rooms with bath tubs. The hotel also upgraded us on arrival which was hugely appreciated, and organised a private yoga class for us which was a great way to start the day.

Some of the staff were truly wonderful, and overall we felt very welcomed. There were a few moments where things seemed to get a bit lost in translation - even with a fluent Hindi speaker in our group - so a few requests at the restaurant and reception needed repeating, and at times we were encouraged to speak directly with the hotel manager. The stairs are also quite steep, so something to keep in mind for anyone with mobility concerns. In one of our rooms, the bed was set in a cosy alcove, though without bedside lamps, which meant we couldn’t see to read in bed. The price was certainly on the higher side - our most expensive stay across Rajasthan. The streets around the property can be a little noisy, on one night we were woken up by scooters and dogs, though of course that’s not something the hotel can control.

It is an old haveli renovated, 215 year old. The property is in old town, beautiful architecture, the staff is great.

    The shower is too open

My daugter and I had the most incredible stay at this Haveli. We would absolutely recommend this to anyone coming to Udaipur. Incredibly tasteful and beautiful space, so much attention to detail, such an authentic Indian feel, friendly staff - just perfect.

This review is golden ?????Everything was exceptional. So many thoughtful, personal touches from the moment we arrived with a welcome drink & handwritten card with recommendations fur sights to visit. The location is excellent, central but also peaceful. There is a beautiful roof top terrace with delicious food and the best banana pancake for breakfast. The room was comfortable, immaculately clean & beautifully decorated in traditional Rajisthani chic. The manager, Divyabhanu couldn’t have been more gentile & helpful with every request big and small. The entire team were wonderful and full of smiles. Me & my daughter will treasure being in this magical city with its kind people always. Thank you Kaladwas al Haveli ✨?✨

Excellent and unique Hotel. Wonderful staff and owner/manager. Exceptional location if you want a hotel in the old city.

A little more lighting in the room

Restaurant was good, especially dal makhani and poha.

The room was incredibly stuffy, hot (even with ac which didn't work well) and really noisy at night due to near constant bibbing of horns. If you are at all a light sleeper I really wouldn't recommend staying here. The location is also very inconvenient to reach, as you need to take a tuk tuk (no cars allowed), and none of the drivers know where the hotel is because the entrance is so hidden. Our flight arrived after dark so this was quite stressful. Staff were nice but we really struggled with English, which was an issue as my partner has a food allergy. We were told the hotel was locked from the outside overnight after 10pm, which maybe makes sense for security but we found quite concerning (eg if there was a fire!?). None of these things are the hotels fault, but the experience was not pleasant and didn't match our expectations. Overall we felt like we had paid far too much, given this cost more than some 5 star hotels and far more than many excellent homestays we stayed at elsewhere in India.

Beautiful hotel with rich history, great location and many details.Staff was very attentive and wanted to help all the time.

It can be very noisy. If you are light sleeper, it can be an issue..Staff was quite shy and reserved but it could be due to their English..

Amazing interiors, old wood work, roof top space so peaceful, and the food was incredibly delicious. Would definitely recommend to someone to stay!

Service was below standard compared to the beauty of the property. Room wasn’t cleaned daily, which meant we were provided with drinking water in the room. We weren’t provided hand towels. Our laundry was late returning (luckily we were staying an extra day in Udaipur) but no compensation offered and we had to return to pick up the laundry ourselves.

The hotel was in a prime location and was very safe. The Old Market and Jagdish temple was walking distance. The staff was very attentive and I felt i was very well taken care of.

Interesting old building with some great features but expected from the high Booking rating a higher standard. With a bit of tweaking and some outside input it could be much betterStaff very friendly and helpful, though lack of any apparent overall manager which we experience elsewhere in IndiaH

Housekeeping was erratic with things missedLocation was convenient but not a particularly nice area of Udaipur. We love the old town and the hustle and bustle but the hotel is down a side street on a very busy corner.

Our stay ended up being an exceptional experience. It felt like walking back in time. The best part was the staff and the restaurant and food!

The location is within old town and the pollution was quite intense.

    9ShineyaPosted on: 3-9-2025

The property had a lot of historic value. Was walking distance from a lot of the tourist sites in the old city. It was also very comfortable.

The bedroom has a small window directly above the bed head, which makes it a tad tough to sleep unless you have an eye cover.

Our stay at Kaladwas Lal Haveli was nothing short of extraordinary! From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the beauty of the property. The architecture exudes charm, and the rooms are not only beautifully decorated but also offer a perfect blend of comfort and heritage. What truly sets this place apart, however, is the exceptional service and warm hospitality of the staff. Their friendliness and attentiveness made our stay even more special, going above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. The location of the property is also perfect being right in the heart of the old city. We spent three wonderful days here, and every moment was delightful. If we ever find ourselves in Udaipur again, we would return without hesitation. Highly recommended for anyone looking for an unforgettable experience!

This is a beautifully restored 300 year old heritage haveli in the hustle and bustle of old town Udaipur that makes you feel like you have gone back in time. The rooms have all modern amenities such as air conditioning, and a shower with excellent water pressure and constant flow of hot water. The decor is quite luxurious in the form of solid and well made wooden furniture. The breakfast selection is very good with a choice of omelettes, pancakes, and sandwiches if you want western fare. However, I opted for the poha and parathas as the food is delicious and so filling that it allows for easy sightseeing of Udaipur and can tide you over until dinner. I would recommend dining at the rooftop terrace at least once while you’re there as they have some very typical Rajasthani dishes on offer, cooked to perfection and incredibly tasty, and served in the most beautiful brassware crockery and cutlery. We asked the hotel staff if we could include some of our friends for dinner and they kindly obliged and catered to our every need. Finally, I would be remiss if I don’t take a moment to thank the lovely staff, and especially Narendra at the front desk who went out of his way to make our stay special. The hotel has to lock up early every night but Narendra shared his WhatsApp details and we were able to have easy access to the property, even where we had to come back a little late at night. Thank you for such a memorable stay. We can’t wait to come back!

There’s nothing not to like about this beautiful place. You can’t expect to stay in the centre of old town Udaipur and complain about noise or street dogs. Earplugs are provided but we found that with the fan on at night, it helped muffle outside noises. Maybe one watch out for anyone with mobility challenges or issues with their knees that some of the steps up and down the property are quite tall so that’s a small watch out. The staff kindly carry all heavy luggage to and from rooms so you won’t have to worry about carrying weight on these stairs.

Unique and beautiful property. Felt like a step back in time and makes for a really special spot in Udaipur. It has nice nooks outside the room in the communal area (as well as the large terrace), which can be used to sit in more light and unwind. Location was excellent. Staff also very friendly and helpful - especially as sorted out long car transfers to & from Udaipur for us, which were well priced and with reliable drivers. Would highly recommend and thought it was great value for money.

Breakfast offering could be improved (e.g. juice offered before 9am). It should also be made clear to guests that rooms aren’t serviced unless requested. If arriving back after c10.30pm, we had to WhatsApp the front desk to open the property - I think this process should also be made clear. The room we had also did not have a safety deposit box - this would be a good addition if possible. As other reviews noted, the rooms can be quite noisy at night - did not have a major issue with this, which is to be expected if staying so centrally.

Breakfast was good and the location is great. All that you need to see are within walking distance. The property is beautiful and you can see that a lot of thought and care were put into restoring this Haveli. It was also nice to just lounge around in the inner courtyard and the terrace, if you like to get away from the hustle and bustle.I believe this establishment takes guest Feedbacks very seriously. I read a lot of previous reviews about this property which lists things like noise from the streets, doors closing at 7pm and staff not being able to communicate properly in English etc. All these seem to have been taken care of when we arrived for our stay. Ear plugs are provided, doors now close at 9 pm, but the staff will give you their Whatsapp number, just in case you come in later than 9pm and in our case, we felt that the staff English was adequate to deal with our requests. So I can only say that this property will get better and better.

As the property is situated within the old town of Udaipur, it can get noisy at night from the traffic and the stray dogs. Ear plugs are provided in the room, just in case you need it. However the noise is part of the Udaipur old town and it is part of the experience. The noise disturbed us only on the first night as it was all new.for us On the second night, after a long day discovering Udaipur, we were so tired anyway, that we did not notice the noise anymore.
