    • What a special hotel! The grounds are absolutely stunning, the staff was very nice, and the food was delicious. I particularly enjoyed the yoga and meditation sessions. The instructor was so kind and did a fantastic job introducing me to both practices. This was done at the perfect level for me. I also enjoyed very much discussing with him about other topics after the sessions such as literature and life in India. This was a transformative experience for me.
    • Great location. The private villa with dip pool was very clean and comfortable. The housekeeping staff were also very attentive
    • Great mansions and free sunset boat tour

    Cons -

    • I only wish I had booked for more nights!
    • Many of canals were infested with water hyacinths, which grows rapidly and is a pest. The resort should clean the interior canals regularly and keep the canals clean.
    • Never leave your cash unattended - could cause trouble

A truly perfectly designed resort. Every detail is beautiful. The staff was so friendly and helpful — we especially loved Bhoomika and Sachin. They enhanced our stay with their knowledge, help with organizing excursions, their warmth and friendly smiles. The property offers several activities throughout your stay which was so nice. We enjoyed the sunset boat cruise, guided meditation, cooking demo, Ayurveda talk, the pool, and spa. The food and breakfast was excellent. Every detail was exquisite.

Overall positive experience! Stayed for 6 nights from 9-Aug to 15-Aug. Different activities like sunset cruise, afternoon tea, bird watching & cultural programs were really nice experiences. Amazing views by the lake side just outside the room & restaurant.

Detailed feedbacks below:Room (Heritage Mansion): Traditional architecture styled room & open air bathroom, which was a different concept that I liked. It was advised not to open the windows & therefore the room developed a moist feel during the course of our stay. I requested for a de-humidifier at the reception & although the request was acknowledged - nothing was done about it. The only solution that was provided by house keeping was one capsule of Eucalyptus & it was the only capsule apparently available. This affected the sleep patterns for me & it was unpleasant in the last 2-3 days. The lighting in the room could have been better. Restaurant (Ettukettu): Great ambience with Kerala heritage architecture. Food spread was limited for Vegetarians. Service was good overall. However, service response times deteriorated over the last couple of days and it seemed they were bit dis-engaged with us. Cultural Programs: Nice performances overall. Could have been better if martial arts like Kalaripayatu was included.Ayurvedic Center : Really nice massages as part of a 3 day massage package. It could have been better if the same personnel were doing the massage on the 3rd day of the package.

We stayed 2 nights and had a perfect holiday. Beautiful property, excellent and friendly staff. There are lots of great activities as well - the bird watching in the morning is something that shouldn't be missed.

    Nothing comes to mind

The location itself is the highlight here. The scenic view and how well the management took care to keep it at its best. It was a beautiful experience. The hospitality and the whole experience at CGH was remarkable.

Probably, more variety in food options would have been good.

    8SarthakPosted on: 4-24-2025

Loved our stay here. The resort is beautiful with great ambience. You will feel completely relaxed here. Also, great hospitality experience. To call out a few: Anjana, Merbin, Jasmine, Goutham, Sachin, Amal & Mohammad Shafi. The rest of the restaurant, housekeeping, security and other staff were also very warm snd welcoming

    10UdayPosted on: 4-22-2025

Dinner and breakfast was good. Enjoyed the mohiniyattam show and sunset cruise a lot. Property is very beautiful. You can spot lot of birds.

Ordered samosas for afternoon snacks. Truly disappointing.

    10DharmendraPosted on: 4-15-2025

Everything ! Location, the entry in a boat, sit outs, various activities available, food, and of course the super efficient Spa service. Beautiful serene views and peace. And yes the open to sky bathrooms.

Light in the room is a bit low, could be better.

    8AnjumPosted on: 4-11-2025

The location was away from the main town of Kumarakom..nestled in the wild..away from hectic, frantic city life..Bird watching & naturalist commentary was quite informative..The complimentary breakfast had variety, wholesome & delicious.

The alloted cottages were clean & neat but the open to air-bathroom & toilet were uncomfortable in a sense...The cottages should have a time piece/clock to know whats the time at instant..

    10ReddyPosted on: 4-8-2025

    Exceptional

The activities for engaging the residents need to be more. Unlimited Kayaking, banana boats and water based activities need to be made/added like done in other countries. This way we would have added 2 more days to our stay.

    10JonathanPosted on: 4-4-2025

Loved the well crafted wooden house- a lovely little bungalow- and the outdoor bathroom. The location with views of Lake Vembanad. The meals were great and the restaurant service excellent and the afternoon tea was a delight. There was so much to do in the grounds that we did not leave the hotel during our four day stay. Arriving by boat to a piped welcome was a real highlight.

    9AshaPosted on: 4-2-2025

The property is beautiful and peaceful with the sounds of birds chirping and the water flowing past. We loved in particular the lovely staff and the activities available on site. We travelled with an 18 month old, and while there aren’t babysitting or playground type resources for young kids, the nature itself was exciting for our daughter and the staff treated her with such kindness, with flexible earlier meals for her too. We loved our stay and would highly recommend!

    9DeepikaPosted on: 3-18-2025

The beautiful view of the lake and the backwaters, the entry till the lobby through the boat and the really good staff at the restaurant! It's really amazing how they have preserved and cherished the old kerela homes! Such an amazing concept and delivery!

The front desk / reception staff aren't exactly welcoming. They started asking us about check out time and all within a couple of hours of our check in. They weren't friendly in general which is quite sad because it's such a beautiful place and the stay was disrupted with that kind of behaviour.

    10JacquelinePosted on: 3-6-2025

Everything.Such a wide range of activities on and off site that you can do.As always in India, impeccable service. The hammocks overlooking the backwatersThe food at the restaurant was tasty, I only tried the Indian options.Outside showers ?

For me, it was a perfect boutique so nothing to report here.

    5RejiPosted on: 2-27-2025

    Passable

Poor maintenance. Pool of Villa with private pool is not clean. Cleaning need to be improved a lot. Lot of spider webs, insects falling down on sit out, unclean and stale water producing mosquitoes

    7JoannePosted on: 2-26-2025

Lovely location and nice to arrive by boat, good eco credentials

Feels more like a 4* rather than a 5*, rather dated. The lower priced room was actually better than the 2 storey room as that just did not work and no bedside table in either was annoying. Food was good but expensive. We had to wait 40 minutes for the boat.

    9AmalaPosted on: 2-20-2025

The staff were amazing, so friendly and welcoming. The food was amazing. We especially loved the off beat cycle tour - a must do.

The heritage mansion room was a bit dark with all the wood panelling and we could’ve used a mirror upstairs
