    • The location is right at the train station and close to many shops and restaurants.
    • Has hot spring
    • The staff was friendly. Good location.

    Cons -

    • There was no ventilation in the rooms and so they smelled. There was mold in the bathrooms and mold in the hot spring part. The room was incredibly small. The hotel restaurant had OK food but it wasn’t a fancy place or anything. When I checked in the clerk told me the price has changed!
    • The room is super narrow not even fit for big baggage, and super pricy
    • We had to change floors because it smelled of cigarettes. Room was VERY small. Bathroom toilet kept running. Gloomy lighting. It’s just an old. Very dated hotel.

    Near station

Not very helpful I would not say from staff rather than company policies

    6DanPosted on: 4-27-2025

Location is close to jr station

I booked one night stay and go away for two nights and booked another night in this same hotel! I want to leave one piece of luggage in the hotel, so make my short trip easier, hotel not allowed! In japan most of hotels will not willing to do this! For my two months travelling in japan only one hotel happily to help! I think as a client paying for two nights, any hotel should take a bit extra to offer their clients a bit convenience!

Pros: It’s right next to the train station and bus depot. You can walk to the station under cover the whole way, which is great if it’s raining. Only a few minutes’ walk from large Aeon supermarket, and there are lots of places to eat nearby. Very good breakfast at the hotel. Nice public bath, with a very nice, albeit small rotemburo. Excellent value for the money.Cons: Noisy. It’s an older APA hotel, so the windows don’t keep out the noise that well, and you can hear trains pretty clearly. Also, because it’s older, it’s a little worse for wear and lacks some of the things that are standard in other APA hotels, like space under the bed for luggage.

Apa never disappoints! However, I do wish there were more parking options, or at least validated parking for the nearby lots. The location is perfect, though. Walking distance to OPA and the station is unbeatable. The rooms are VERY tiny! But I expected as much. Perfect if traveling alone and by train.

Of course, the location of the hotel was excellent and even in the rain, we were well protected from the elements. We especially liked the knowledge and assistance of the staff as we asked about the APA Membership plan and how to access and account. The staff in Takasaki went out of their way to provide excellent service!

The hotel is a bit dated and that is understandable. However, I didn't like the ledge or "lip" by the bathroom door as it made it conducive to tripping on the way out.

Great location! just a short walk from Takasaki station which has 2 malls close by. Lots of restaurants and cafes around the area. Great public bath! Highly recommended.

Location couldn't be better. Plus point for the onsen. Staff could speak good English. Room was really tiny as reflected in booking. But overall experience was great.

    5FayePosted on: 3-25-2025

Is right on the station concourse.

Heard the trains and the train announcements, even late at night. Also heard people’s voices at all hours of the night. The hotel is dated, and the common bath was clean, but very small and not well set out. It had an old feeling about it.

Young staff man was struggling to help us with buying our meal ticket. He acted like it was something bad we did. Made us feel very uncomfortable.

    Location, friendly staff

    Small room for a couple

    2IhsinPosted on: 12-30-2024

    close to JR station

The room is extremely small. Completely unable to open the suitcase, don’t even mention stay for two people. Definitely a nightmare.

    10LeoPosted on: 12-30-2024

Location, really near the station and no need to cross any intersection since it is connected via foot path. Good nearby places to eat.has communal bath. Check in and check out were quick. Staff were friendly and explain everything that is happening eg cleaning schedule, aircon maintenance . Has option to pay for breakfast

    10AdonisPosted on: 11-29-2024

I can't imagine travelling in Japan if there was no APA Hotel. I always stay at APA because of its proximity to the train station. Also, it is difficult to find a hotel with a hot spring bath for price as low as APA's. Best deal always.

The dinning area was a bit cramped. You really need to move with care and caution.

When we arrived, the reception it was unpleasant I could say challenging. They first said that I had no booking when I produced my confirmation from them. They spent ages checking their computer in fact. It took an hour to get them to say ok, you have 3 bookings. Maybe only 2, one for a smoking room, which I clearly said on the day I made the booking. I cancelled the mistaken smoking booking and booked a non smoking room. I do not smoke I could not contact them so I cancelled that booking confirmed by Booking .com and then I rebooked. A few days later, I booked for a friend the site was less user-friendly than I am used to and the option to only say I was booking for a friend was not offered so I wrote to the hotel saying I was making a second booking for a friend; They wrote to me saying what her name was, and I responded with her name. They maintain they had no evidence of this. In fact, they insisted she pay, They insisted the booking was for one smoking and one non-smoking room. She tried the smoking room and, after an hour, felt Sick. She asked if she could pay extra to get a non-smoking room. They said none were available. Eventually, despite my producing confirmation and check numbers, she cancelled her booking and went to another hotel. The new desk man was more reasonable and reimbursed her. I need to sort this out I do not wish to pay for 3 bookings when I made one and as my friend was reimbursed I do not want to pay for 2 bookings. Can you help me sort this out. It was the most unpleasant experience of my many years of happily using Booking.com and to booking APA hotels. only 2 weeks ago, I booked the APA hotel in Kyoto Ecki Mae and had a wonderful time. Please help me Ursula.

Perfect place to stay for 1 night from Tokyo if you want to explore Takasaki or Gunma - the hotel is located just in front of West exit of Takasaki station. The room was clean, the breakfast was nice with various choice of dishes.

The room was small and cold - bed is place right under the corner window, so if you are staying as a couple, one who sleeps near the wall will be freezed.Onsen is also tiny.

I liked the “onsen” bath and sauna and “rotemburo”. Also it was great to have the BBC channel.

    10Mary521jpPosted on: 5-16-2024

The room was comfortable. Small, but well laid out. The WiFi worked well. TV was great. It was nice that the remote had a bi-lingual button and that BBC world news was on 24/7. An ice bucket could be picked up at the front desk.
