The Gemalai Village

The view was great. The outside table to eat meals was great.

The only thing that I did not like was the noise from the busy street close by.

It's strategic location. Away from hustle & bustle of Pantai Cenang.

The bedroom lights were too dim.

Its was a fantastic stay. I grew up in the north of Malaysia, staying close to the paddy field make me reminisce my chilhood and I was happy that my daughter had a glimpse of that experience. From the surroundings, the sound of frogs and cicadas, and waking up to the paddy field with its birds, butterflies and buffalos. Gemalai village is within the proximity of the Paddy Museum (Laman Padi) so we take a full package to experience a glimpse of the northern way of life in Malaysia. The rooms are well designed, spacious and is within walking distance to Chenang beach so we definitely will be staying here again if we are in Langkawi.

Lovely authentic room, clean and away from the Main Street. Walkable distance to the beach and shops along the lane. Peaceful stay in nature. Fantastic value for money, would recommend for the experience.

Location is nice to Chenang Beach.

They do not have enough man power to handle the check-in process. Check-in time is at 3pm, I arrived around 3pm but I had to wait until 4pm for the staff to arrive before I could get my key. Check-out time is at 12pm l, couldn't even stay until 12.30pm.

Rustic accommodations facing a rice field. Breakfast served on the lower balcony. Unique accommodations but only for the adventurous . We thoroughly enjoyed it. Within walking distance of beach, grocery store and restaurants. Excellent experience. We were there 3 nights and very much enjoyed it.

Not for the light sleeper. Near a side street with many motorcycles. Also every night packs of dogs were howling and barking. Roosters may bother some but not us.

I love how it still gives me a village vibe despite being in the middle of a busy street

It can get very noisy because the location is located next to the main road

They accept bags till checkin 3pmno front disk before 12 noonthe towels little stainedthe bathroo m has an open part near the roof although it helps the hut design but difficult for children and risks insects. However no problem reported about insect

Service could could been better

Loved the local village charm with modern comforts—great value, super fun, and so many Insta-worthy spots!

Not much to say, just don’t expect a 4-5 star hotel—but I still loved it!

It’s a beautiful place near the beach and all the restaurants and shops but it is also very peaceful. The staff are really kind and helpful.

The cabin had a nice flair and was very clean when we arrived. They even granted us an early check-in. Beach was in a walkable distance but still a bit far (which we knew but still).The hotel had a spacious parking lot for our motorbike and a water dispenser with free water which was very nice. Luggage can be stored after check-out.

The village is located next to a busy street which was a bit loud especially at the evening. Housekeeping came at the third day (because of covid?!- which was kind of strange to us). Later check-out was not granted for free, even though the cabins were all empty during our entire stay.

Loved everything. Friendly staff. Greay value for money. Fantastic place. Loved the whole accomodation and how it was all set up. Staff so kind and provided me early checkin and late checkout without charging me extra.

Requested for veg food. It was good, quantity was very less for a three member family.

-The room are clean and spacious and the view was lovely with green fields and lotuses around!! ; it opens to a wide paddy field but sadly since it was not in the season yet at the moment it was only filled with mud and some tall grass. please come in january - april if you want to see the paddy field! Sadly can't see the water buffaloes too :"-It was very near to the beach! You can just simply walk for 7--10 mins and you reached pantai cenang already!

-The unit that i stayed was on the upper floor so you need to climb up and down; a bit of hassle for people with knee issues esp since i got knee pain (my bad tho' I should've just booked the other units without the upper deck)-the whole place seems looks a bit old and run-down but it was managed to be maintained clean by the person in charge-no proper lobby (it was just a small room where you check in and all) and it was kinda creepy at night esp when there's not many people staying , and during my 1st night as i was alone in my room (and possibly in the entire chalet compound as i saw no other people checking in) i heard someone/some heavy footsteps creeping up the stairs leading to my room !!! and i felt soooo scared so i shouted "HOIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII" in a very deep manly voice to scare the intruder? and thankfully the steps disappear!! LOL! so please be aware if you are a lone female traveler. -it was situated NEXT to the main road leading to the beach (esp the units with the upper deck) so it was kinda noisy all the time with the cars and bikes passing around since its quite a busy street-the breakfast was very plain and can be improved; maybe we should be given option to choose a nasi lemak packet instead as it will be a better option rather than those western style breakfast.

I love that each villa was equipped with fishing rod. I had excellent time fishing just outside my villa. The knee-deep water helped a lot for a novice like me.

We loved it! The room/ hut was gorgeous - spacious, characterful, very clean, and in such a relaxing location. 5min walk to beach, ~20min walk to more main area of cenang & beach.

Reception area is very small & bit run down - didn’t really make any difference to our stay though.

Good location near Pantai Cenang (10/15 minute walk to main area). Peaceful despite being near busy roads/not far from the airport. Clean accommodation and liked the traditional style of the chalets.Helpful and friendly staff.Great value.

Wifi was quite poor in our hut (the furthest away from reception).
