THE WIND CROSS HOTEL

Break fast not provided by the hotel , even not mentioned about it during my stay.

The room does not have any wall clock. TV remote was not there, however TV was mounted on wall. Toilet flush was not working. The hotel blanket cover was not good and damaged.

Good location for train station, night staff were very helpful.... room service food very good

Close to the railway station. Good for a stop over while travelling to Shimla.

We had booked two rooms. One of the bathrooms was smelling. The reception is on the first floor and there is no lift.

Staff were friendly, there was plenty of bedding and the shower was powerful.

We had blankets on the bed but no top sheet, the blankets smelled of perfume etc and were not clean, we asked for a sheet and made the bed ourselves. The bed was very short, I am 5 ft 8 and my feet poked out of the bottom. But to be honest none of that mattered as we didn't get any sleep. There were people coming and going all night, to the point I wondered what kind of establishment we were staying in. There was a generator ( or.something very noisy ) running next to our room all night, the trains speed past and beep very close to your window.For what you pay it's clean enough, but ultimately we wanted somewhere to sleep and we didn't stand a chance . Got the train to Shimla like a walking zombie.

It was clean uncomfortable and the staff were lovely. We also had the best Chai we’ve had in India for breakfast. It’s a very conveniently placed if you’re catching the train up to Shimla, only a short ride to the train station. It’s also great value for money.

The staff were friendly and very willing to help. I liked the location for being able to get to the Toy Shimla train easily and because they often have guests who need to get to the train, they can help you.The bathroom was good and clean with hot water and clean towels. Bed was comfy and clean. Air-conditioning worked well and you can eat there which is a bonus at night.

I would not like to spend a lot of time in the room as there is no window to the outside world. Otherwise it is perfect just to sleep if you are out all day doing things

We chose the Wind Cross as we had an early train from Kalka station which is only 2km away. The hotel was clean with comfortable bed and good shower and excellent food available as takeaway from the nearby Krishna cafe. Staff very welcoming. Ideal hotel for people getting the train to shimla and reasonably priced

Though the bedroom is comfortable and clean.

There is no restaurant on the property. The ordered food is brought from outside restaurants.There is a long and broad staircase to approach the property from the main road.There is no lift on the property.Your bags are hauled up to the property, and you must climb several stairs to reach it, even if your knees are bad.

Nice modern clean comfortable. Got checked in fine at midnight. The guys gave me great advice that I should go early to buy ticket for shimla toy train, same day luckily I did and got going.

Price

Pretty basic place but ok to lay your head before the early morning toy train to Shimla. There’s a beer shop opposite and they will order in food for you.

Good location for the station, 5 minutes in a tuk tuk. Very kind and sweet hosts - made us a cup of chai and some toast and jam in the morning. Super sweet. Room was comfortable and fulfilled our basic purpose of an overnight stay before catching the train to Shimla. If you're doing what we did, and getting the toy train the next day, this hotel is fine for you!

Bathroom was clean but there was a bit of a whiff - maybe came from outside and likely not the hotel's fault, don't let it put you off. We didn't use the shower because it was a brief stay.

Great value, close to the train station for taking the Toy Train to Shimla. Hotel is clean, comfortable and great value with decent restaurants nearby. Staff arranged early morning taxi and provided helpful restaurant recommendations

Although others had said it was close to the train station. We found it a good distance and definitely needed a taxi

This was a cheap overnight option before catching the Himalayan Queen toy train to Shimla. The room, bedding and bathroom were clean. Bottled water was provided and the hotel was willing to order in takeaway food for us. They had a little dining room in which you could eat. The staff were friendly and helpful. There was a nice little restaurant (Pedal and Pour) a short distance away (c. 200m) on the other side of the road and we had a decent evening meal of Chicken fried rice there. There was a little supermarket next door to the restaurant where we bought some food items for the following day's trip.

The room was dark - if the furniture were to be painted cream or another light colour it would be much more welcoming. and make the room feel more spacious
