    Pros +

    • It’s in the county side with views. We didn’t have to go out for breakfast and dinner, enjoying the peaceful nature. We have a cozy balcony for our meals.

    • Fantastic stay in Tana Toraja. Literarily surrounded by Toraja houses - visible from the windows. Very nice host, prepared a nice meals for us. Highly recommended.

    Cons -

    • The steps to our upstairs dwelling are steep but there is railing to hold onto.
    • Noisy roosters in the morning - but hey - this is countryside :-)
    • If you are not used to countryside life, then better bring some earplugs. The nights are very noisy. There are barking dogs, yelling roosters, and locals driving their bike around.

Amazing place, the room was perfect and the food the best we had in Sulawesi. Best place for visiting Tanah Toraja, very calm because it's a bit outside of the city center but if you drive a scooter or if you have a guide with a car it's perfect and very easy to reach. Highly recommended!

Good meals and friendly staff, with a great day time view of the surroundings. However, water pressure and wifi could be improved, and rooms could be slightly cleaner. Slightly expensive for Toraja, but overall still good value.

A beautiful homestay with an amazing host. The breakfast was great every morning and the dinners were amazing. The homestay is comfortable and the host is always willing to help, no matter your requests.

This place was soo homey… it’s a little bit out of town, but it was perfect for us as we had a driver. We have a beautiful view of the Lumbung from our bedroom. The breakfasts are big in the morning and you can choose how you like your eggs. Mana’ek also cooked our dinners at night at they were so delicious. You don’t need to worry where to eat at night!

Water pressure can be low at times. Maybe other guests are showering at the same time

Loved the location, the food and the beautiful host and her family :)

Manaek is a lovely sweet woman who seems to run the place. She prepares breakfast and dinner for the guests and she always smiles. The people are always willing to help you, with transportation or tours etc. The homestay is next to beautiful traditional houses and located in between the rice fields with beautiful views. It is perfect if you are looking for a peaceful stay in nature, compared to the noisy city centre of Rantepao.

It was a little bit far away from Rantepao city centre, 40 minute walk. However, this was a nice road to walk, and as we rented a motorbike for two days we could use our motorbike to go into town.

What a lovely homestay! Everything is done with love and attention. A warm welcome by the family, fantastic food, lovely rooms with a spectacular view. And no noise, only the sounds of nature ?( in Rantepao the mosk will wake you up early in the morning, or great chance there is a karaoke bar somewhere). Highly recommended!

This homestay was wonderful! The host was very kind, helpful, flexible and an amazing cook (breakfast and dinner). She organized a guide and motorbike, which was perfect for the 4 days we stayed with Manai. The homestay is located a bit outside busy Rantepao surrounded by traditional Toraja-houses, in a quite (exept the chickens) and green evironement - beautiful! We would recommend the stay anytime.

Amazing host manai . Very good location feels just like home ?.

I know toraja is cold ? place but I wish atleast it had fans if not A/C . I suggest them to install ceiling fans for day time use atleast.

This is a homestay in the best possible interpretation (in our opinion)! The family has converted their traditional farmhouse into a nice little boutique hotel with a few rooms - all have big windows to enjoy the beautiful views across the rice fields and mountains. On the yard you have the typcial traditional houses to look at, while the rooms are in a modern building with all the comfort you need (own bathroom, wifi, shared fridge, comfortable beds etc.). Breakfast and dinner is served at separate tables in a shared area or on covered balconies. The food was always delicous and freshly cooked, the host ... always asked for our preferences and even our sometimes picky son found enough nice options to eat (just a simple thing like serving the components of a meal on separate plates can do magic). Every morning there was a different fresh fruit juice to enjoy, the staff was all very friendly and they all speak very good English. They were always around if we needed them, could recommend a wonderful guide (Mr. Anis) who we booked for 2 days to take us around the area, did our laundry before we moved on and overall you still have a maximum of privacy around the house. The place is a bit outside of central Rantepao, so you will need some transport to get here, but either you are travelling with a driver or you can get a taxi. Not an issue for us, as we were away most of the day to explore the area and were happy to return to our relaxing "home" in the evenings.

Sadly, we were the only guests during most of our stay, but we really hope this was just a coincidence, as this place deserves to be discovered and visited!

Nice and quiet location. Tongkan houses as our closest neighbour. Very good food at the homestay. Also walking distance to a few restaurants if you want to go out to eat. Excellent service with airport transfer and arrangements with driver and guide to get around Toraja.

It would have been nice with a fan in the room. Also a rack to hang towels and wet clothes on to dry would have been apreciated.

Nice owners, breakfast and dinner are excellent, hot water and good WiFi.

The house is literally next to a chicken coop, so expect to wake up at around 4am.I also had an issue with the guide that the owner has recommended me of - John. Do NOT take him, his guiding skills are nonexistent. It’s hard to believe that the owner was not aware of this, and he still recommended me of him. In general, it seemed that the owners care more about the interest of the service providers (guides, taxi drivers), and less so of the interest of their guests.
