    Pros +

    • The location and the ambience.
    • What we liked: Amazing location with excellent view. Calm and quiet property. Very good rooms. What we didn’t like: 1. Extremely depressing breakfast. Limited spread and that too tasteless food. 2. A mobile device was given at the time of checking in for communication with the front office/f&b/housekeeping, emergency, etc. Alas! None of the contact numbers saved on the instrument worked during the 3 days stay. To order something, every time we had to walk to the front office. Even to get replenishment of water, we had to walk to reception3. Limited food menu with extremely limited room service. In fact, they were always reluctant to provide room service. Food timing for breakfast, lunch and dinner were a window of 2 hours each which was little too short, specially since the property is located almost an hour away from the mainstream township. If we miss any of these timing, then we would be left with no choice for food. 4. While two of the gentlemen at the front office were pleasant and cooperative, one of the ladies was clueless, expressionless and remotely related to hospitality - she didn’t even have a smile on her face. While I was explaining the difficulties we faced, during the mid of our conversation she just walked away and never showed up again. If you are not a foodie and more interested in staying inside the rooms, without having any kind of activities, then this place is good for long hours of sleeping and relaxing. The only activity was an hour long walk into the coffee plantation. And the only pleasant thing that is worth mentioning is Mr Sampath, the guide. WARNING: If you are looking for a family vacation with aged people and small kids, then Old Kent is certainly NOT the place you should opt for.
    • The area is lovely although the road is dirt for quite a few kilometers and had it been rainy season, would have been difficult to get to. The room was huge and lovely and gorgeous views. The lodge area is nice too and the staff were friendly. Wifi was also decent but getting a phone signal was hard.

    Cons -

    • The food was average ans service subpar, certain services like spa were not available. Also, the WIFI was erratic.
    • It was a bit disorganized. No one told us (until we found people to ask) what and where breakfast was or anything about dinner or the advertised walks etc. No one told us to order eggs or coffee either. Again just disorganized. The fancier coffee was not available until 4pm which is just too late for us to be having all that caffeine so that meant we only tried the plain filter/powdered coffee at breakfast and staff couldn't answer if that was actually grown there or not. When surrounded by coffee plants it would have been nice to experience drinking it. The tour of the plantation is around very steep hills and it was not possible to navigate for anyone with a walking difficulty. The food in the restaurant was nice but could have been improved on.
    • No intercom. Flooring is too old. No clear information about different colour bottles which they kept in bath room.

I was well received by the staffs, the rooms were so comfortable and the property met all my requirements, I travelled with my kids, so the Chef Mr. Naveen was patient enough to listen to our requirements. we had sumptuous food in the property.

    Plantation walk inside the property.

No intercom. Flooring is too old. No clear information about different colour bottles which they kept in bath room.

It was an amazingly calm and beautiful stay with good breakfast. The rooms were quite big, comfortable and clean. The toilet was also huge and clean. Staff and everything about the place was really good.

The only thing that needs to be improved is the road to the coffee estate. It starts well and ends well but in-between it needs improvement.

    - location - local food on the Menu- privacy of the cottages. They are far apart , so a random noisy traveller can't ruin your holiday - trail paths for hiking. They also provide the stuff for it like shoes if requested.

    - A la carte menu is good. But there was Buffet when the property was full. Buffet food is average. Looks like the food was selected as per North Indian taste. - nothing much. Everything was nice. Will visit again.

It has old world british charm , huge spacious room and bathroom

Rooms needs maintenance, bathroom commode is just not fitted well , room stinks of humidity as it has no sunlight from 3 sides

    8MuthukumarPosted on: 8-27-2024

It was an amazing location. The trail to the cottage is very bad which they have to fix. It is very difficult to drive. The room was very clean and the location was just wow. It was so mesmerising you get lost in the tranquility of nature.

The road to the facility is horrible. Few staffs are very rude and not responsible. There was a guided nature walk were we were accompanied by a guide who left us half way through. We were unable to catch up with his speed. And initially we wanted to postpone our stay days as we were sick. When we checked the resort for availability they asked for medical certificate which was very insensitive and baseless

Very much appreciate that the cottage placement is surrounded by the greenfield of natural environment of forests in the area of coorg

The dinner timing of restaurant closes at sharp 10 pm . i think it should be more flexible.

Every single thing is perfect! The property is one of the most beautiful places we ever visited, perfectly crafted food and what makes it the best is its amazing staff! They are so so so polite and supportive that no amount of word would be able to define their exceptional dedication towards guests! A must visit property. It has its own trails for treks, longue, library, cottages are lovely places with each one of it with its own wifi dedicated to it, huge bathroom and super clean spaces are brownie points. I dont think i can point even a single issue with this place! Value is greater that the money you will pay for this space.

All good nothing negative i noticed

A very peaceful and quiet place to relax and unwind with the sounds of nature . Great food .

A common pool area would have been great considering there is enough available land .

    10RebeccaPosted on: 6-29-2024

Beautiful location in the middle of a jungle. Cottage was more than I dreamed of. Garden attached to cottage and porch made for wonderful morning and evening tranquility. Every single staff member was pleasant and welcoming. The food was excellent and plentiful.

    Everything was perfect.

    3BannadiPosted on: 6-22-2024

Well, its in the middle of nature. Thats a good thing, coz otherwise there’s nothing else to write home about.

Paid premium for the superior bungalow only snd only for Jacuzzi & guess what, it doesn’t work properly. Hadn’t been cleaned in forever, so each time we turned it on, it had all particles & hair coming out of it.To top it all, nobody there seemed to care. Its like I flushed the money down the drain.Absolutely not worth the money. The breakfast options are so limited & also look stale! Coorg has so many other options- please go for something else.

Would like to mention in specific Mr Bopanna, the Chef the steward and in fact all the staff for being very helpful and polite and made us stay extra comfy. Will definitely will visit again.

Property is beautiful..couldn't have asked for more

They don't serve pork. I didn't see it written anywhere. But apparently it is written. Food there is honestly very average, did not really like the breakfast spread.

    8HarshadaPosted on: 11-23-2023

Breakfast and dinner buffets were very good. Staff was polite. Lots of nature and fun to explore the plantation.

It would have been nice to have someone explain the heritage and tell us more about the history. The walking routes are not marked well.
