    Pros +

    • Excellent breakfast. Amazing staff & service. Wonderful spa. Everyone spoke great English and were helpful with all our needs. We liked being tucked away on side streets, but it was a bit hard for a few of our tour guides/drivers to find.
    • The rooms were very comfortable and clean. Having a swim up pool was awesome! We only ate the breakfast, which was delicious.
    • We loved the breakfast. There is a great gym and yoga space. The staff are friendly and kind.

    Cons -

    • nothing to note!
    • We were guided to download an app that didn't really add value to our stay, so it felt strange that we had to download it. The hot water for the tub could only go up to a certain temperature, and felt almost lukewarm when it finish running. At night the frogs croak super loudly, so we couldn't leave the doors open for fresh air when we slept, which we would have liked, it's a tiny thing but might not be great for light sleepers!
    • The gym was very small and therefore I didn't work out during my stay at Away Chiang Mai

Beautiful, clean, convenient location. Couldn't be better!

Spacious rooms, excellent location that's near the old town, but not near main roads so it felt quiet enough. The breakfast spread was excellent, and had different hot options for the two mornings that we had them. We're not vegans but we still really enjoyed them, most courteous and lovely staff.

I follow a plant-based diet and therefore I really enjoyed the breakfast. I didn't have to guess or ask whether my breakfast included ingredients that I couldn't have. I also had a room with a swim up pool which was convenient and awesome.

The gym was very small and therefore I didn't work out during my stay at Away Chiang Mai

Excellent upkeep and food. All food was vegetarian and freshly cooked. We were looking for a place which is pure vegetarian and we found it.

Location is little odd. It is in small bylanes. But very close to main town where you can see temples.

As a vegan I was so excited to stay here, the staff were really so lovely! The rooms were quite comfortable, smart tv etc. nice balcony.

The rooms had a bit of a damp smell, and very dark. (There were two buildings so perhaps the other was lighter). I found the vegan breakfast a bit disappointing could have been more creative. I personally wouldn’t stay again.

Everything! Location, staff, the most comfortable room I’ve ever stayed in. Big room also

    Loved all of it

    9AtaraPosted on: 10-23-2025

Staff were super attentive. Walked me to my room rolling my suitcase. Amazing shower pressure. Huge bed. Gorgeous porch and amazing pool. I preferred the more renovated building across

The only thing I found was that the breakfast had small flies or something flying which made it feel a little dirty or grossThe gym needs to add water inside the room ( not the spas water tank) and mats.

The pools were lovely and enjoyed by our son. They try to be environmentally responsible and we loved the vegan breakfast buffet!!

There was some confusion each time we tried to pay for breakfast. I didn’t realize it wasn’t included in my booking. The booking included a 10% discount on meals. Some staff didn’t know about it. Also it was unclear that you couldn’t use the 10% discount along with the 100 baht discount for declining housekeeping services. We do appreciate that in an attempt to reduce waste, many hotels offer bonuses for declining housekeeping.

Very clean. Perfect location. Staff was so nice and friendly! Room was extremely quiet and comfortable. Excellent air conditioning. The spa package was amazing and a good value.

Breakfast could use more fruit options.

We enjoyed this stay. The location was fantastic for visiting the night bazaar and generally very convenient. The service was great and our rooms was very nice. The breakfast was very good for vegans, non-vegans and kids might wish for wider selection.

Loved the style of the room, loved the pool and the decor of the hotel. Gym and yoga room were great. Location good for quiet. Room service was excellent and very tasty. Refillable water station ?

Not sure why hotels love to use only a half door for the shower, it means you have to pump up the hot water so it drains their profit? Anyway....didn't like it here either, but it seems to be a trend I can't avoid.Couple of notes for improvement: fix the room doors, they didn't close properly and beep when they're left open, so everyone was running around constantly trying to figure out whose door was beeping when they left for the day. Annoying. Also, you give towel drying racks to some rooms and not others? We all need a towel drying rack! Breakfast: I had an issue here because when we checked in no one told us there was either the option of a la carte or buffet in the other building, so we ordered a la carte the first morning and it was HORRIBLE. I'm sorry but the frittata was a dry, crumbly mess with no flavour and the 'ham and cheese' was gross and neon coloured for some reason. We were very disappointed with the breakfast, and then the next day were told about the buffet next door. While the buffet also wasn't great (too many heavy, dinner style meals with a Ton of garlic and spice rather than proper light breakfast foods), it was a lot better than ordering off the breakfast menu. But, overall, I was disappointed with the breakfast.Their restaurant menu was excellent, however and I enjoyed several options for room service. It's a shame they can't match this quality in their breakfast options. Considering it's marketed as a vegan hotel, this should be top priority.

The room with jacuzzi was splendid.Staff was friendly and helpful.

The Vegan Breakfast was not up to our taste. At least these should have been lactose ingredients

    10JaninePosted on: 5-22-2025

Utter comfort! The bed, the jacuzzi and pool access, the buffet breakfast. All fantastic! The location is also wonderful, quiet lane and close to Tharpae Gate. Beautiful smiling staff also.

The best value for money, well thought out boutique hotel. Good service, great food. Very clean (amazing fresh smelling room! spacious room just like the photos!! comfy bed.

it’s right by the old town so the location is great if you want to be in city center of Chiang Mai right where the tourists are but this isn’t a quit retreat in nature type of resort. We absolutely loved it though and knew that going in.

    9Dorothy J. B.Posted on: 5-9-2025

Very good breakfast. Very attractive vegan menu. (but most of the menu is too spicey for me.)

The coffee could be have been better in dining room. And instant coffee and powdered creamer in the room was disappointing. There is no comfortable, shaded or air conditioned common place to sit and socialize with other guests. .Staff don’t have good knowledge of available tours being offered.

The food at the restaurant was absolutely incredible. We never wanted to leave! Loved the location, very close to Thapae Gate. Staff were amazing and very attentive. Highly recommend

Away Thapae Resort was one of the best hotels we've stayed in Thailand (we stay in mostly mid-range hotels). I have to preface this with stating that the hotel is split into 2 buildings - both have pools, one has the workout studio. We stayed in the other one, the side where the check-in lobby area is located in. Both buildings have pools available to us.Beautiful recently new-ish hotel, and so very clean. We loved our room w balcony on a higher floor (with elevator), very spacious room (somehow I forgot to take any photos of our room) and huge bathroom, comfortable bed, desk with chair, another table, and yet another table with coffeemaker, spacious clothes, etc storage area. Big safety box to fit laptops, etc. Fresh towels every day. Balcony had 2 chairs and a table, as well as a drying rack which came in handy to dry off bathing suits after pool use. Everything is so beautifully clean. Plentiful breakfast buffet (7-10:30am). At the bfast, there is a DIY juicer with fresh raw veggies and fruits to juice - and made my morning for 5 mornings in a row. There is a long and narrow pool which we've used twice and it was great, there are several loungers and umbrellas and towel station. This hotel is tucked away from the hustle and bustle, you have nature soothing sounds around you, yet only minutes to walk to the Thapae gate, night market walking street, massage places, cooking schools, bars, restaurants, etc. Very nice and caring staff - esp. at the breakfast and lobby areas. We did order grab food delivery one night and it came to the front desk and they called me. Thank you to Alex, Fern and the entire team. We loved our stay with you.
