Merchant Villa- SHA Extra Plus

Room was spacious, absolutely loved having two bedrooms and a living room in between. Staff was friendly and welcoming. They even let us keep our bags in the meeting room, so we didn't have to carry them around since our flight was later in the day. Villa is tucked away making it quite and a peaceful place to relax. I love the beautiful landscaping and water fountain on site. My kids loved swinging on the rope swings enjoying the Villa grounds. Enjoy a drink from the coffee shop and sit outside underneath their gazebo taking in lush, flowers and trees.

Pool was not heated and it was freezing cold. My kids were sad to not be able the use the pool due to this reason.

It was basically a b and b.No bar or snacks in the hotel building.No kitchen so breakfast has to be ordered the night before.Would have preferred a conventional buffet with choice of cooked breakfast from a kitchen.Despite that would love to stay there again.I noticed in other reviews people complained about the noise of aircraft taking off from the airport.We soon got used to it and think it would apply in many parts of the city as the airport is central. Not a problem at night

- Room wasnt ready to check in at 14:30h of the arrival day, we were exhausted and they just let us wait 1h without any apology or at least offering a drink- the pool was freezing - we and the other guests couldnt swim in it- constant noise from airplanes, can't even have a conversation at the pool with the noise- the bar at the pool was never serviced, you had to walk out of the hotel to another building that was part of that strange condo set-up all around the hotel - construction noise during the day

Beautiful property with immaculate, comfortable & quiet rooms and comfortable beds. Gorgeous pool, nice onsite coffee shop. Nice breakfast included.

The policy for ordering breakfast the night before was a little funny, and it was also odd that we booked 2 rooms for our family of 3 but only 2 breakfasts were included. Would have appreciated a bit more timing flexibility with breakfast (serve till 11 for jet lagged guests). The location is beautiful, but it is a solid 20 min taxi ride into the Tapae Gate/old city area, so it's nice if you're looking for a quiet getaway but not great if you want to be able to easily access town. Would have been nice to have had luggage racks in the room.

No bar, no spa as advertised.Long way from Chiang Mai. Journey took 40 minutes when there was traffic. Staff were pleasant but their English did not allow them to offer any advice/ help with anything eg tours etc

The quiet location, large grounds with view of the mountains, friendly efficient staff.

I enjoyed a really comfortable stay in this chic hotel. The decor is light colours, so feels cool and airy. There are places to sit outside, and a fantastic coffee & cake shop in the grounds. Breakfast was huge and freshly cooked to order, with fresh fruits, yoghurt etc. on the side. The staff are lovely too:)

I didn't like that no one help in our baggage, they saw us carry a lot of things they don't help at all !! I didn't like the some staff attitude at the reception

The staff was super helpful and friendly. They helped us with different requests through the time we were there. The hotel has a great pool and they have in-room massage which is great after a long day of outdoor activities. We enjoyed the stay so much, will definitely return for another stay.

Location was excellent for a gathering outside of the city with a perfect breakfast buffet. I personally liked the fruit assortment

One of the best hotels I have stayed in. Excellent rooms, quiet location (note planes fly above as this is not far from Chiang Mai Airport), boutique setting so there is privacy. Hotel rooms and facilities can cater towards elderly. Merchant Villa also have great staff, always helpful and responsive. Overall, exceeded expectations in all areas. Will definitely stay here in future.

Cannot help the planes flying above since airport is not far away. Light sleepers, take note.

Great atmosphere in the whole compound, you can simply enjoy the place by walking around their garden, or chilling at their in house coffee shop or have lunch or dinner at Italian restaurant, Sipole. The owners live in the compound and make sure everything is crisp and clean. They use good quality furnitures and fixtures you feel as if you live in your own house. My room on 1st floor is huge with big bathroom so so comfortable. Breakfast is ordered a la carte and outsourced, some are hit and miss, but great variety there. You also get voucher for 1 cup of coffee/drink per day from their coffee shop. Will definitely come back!

Maybe the pillow can be more comfortable but I'm just being very picky here!

Room was large and comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good, lots of options and all very tasty.

The staff. Horrible staff due to: - inexperienced people as they were all surely around 18-20 years old- clueless staff in general. Not even introduce us with everything we needed to know upon arrival. - everytime we asked for something they took years to answer. - having to order the breakfast the day before is crazy. The buffet is very poor. So little things to eat and the food is…. Very bad.

Breakfast could be more buffet time, than pre-ordered from the set menu. Having said that, food was delicious, it’s just limited options to select from if you are an overseas guest

You do get a bit of noise from the plane's taking off but wouldn't stop me from staying again.

Location was perfect. Breakfast was good (Thai style + eggs to your liking, fruit, juices, ginger tea, coffee). Pool area clean and picturesque

the bed was rather uncomfortable....too hard, at least for us.Even though everybody tries their very best to keep this place up, but definitively has had better times. The light in our bathroom did not work.....we asked for the lightbulbs to be changed....unfortunately nobody took care of this issue. During nighttime it was rather challenging to get ready for bed

everything is amazing here. it's exceed my expectation. the room is amazing. the staff is very friendly, and very helpful. the garden is very beautiful.

I like it all. it'a just perfect here. I highly recommend this facility to everyone coming to Chiang Mai. value for money. all excellent here.
