    Pros +

    • The location¿it¿s an oasis in the middle of the city. Your own Pool Villa is fabulous. Loved they assigned us two bicycles with our names on them.
    • Although breakfast was not ready on the first morning, the management promptly addressed the issue and ensured everything was perfectly arranged the following day. The pool was consistently clean and well maintained, and the staff were always professional, attentive, and dedicated to providing excellent service!
    • Every thing was good, the private pool, the picnic on the bicycle, and stuff. Breakfast is very delicious ,it’s the best i had in Thailand.

    Cons -

    • As a large resort, it would have been even better if there were more staff available. We also tried to rent a go-kart, but it felt a bit overpriced.
    • Cons:1. Despite there not being many restaurant guests, lunch and dinner took a good 1-2 hours, it was ridiculous, orders were taken incorrectly, items not served 2. Somebody stole the family bike from our villa, bashed the basket and dumped it somewhere else on the resort grounds 3. Their staff had neglected a cat and locked it up in a cage at the back of the property, first day I said that I’ll see if it’s maybe an overnight precaution, next day I found the cat dead in its cage 4. There are 6+ dogs on the property locked away in the back, they’re scared when you approach and bite each other, the concrete cages they live on provide no comfort and are full of dog poop5. Kids are not allowed to feed the chickens, everything is on a paid basis 6. You’re not allowed to take the bikes out to cruise in the neighbourhood 7. Their rental cost for their go-cart and sidecar motorbike are absurd
    • There was a party in the village near by one night and the music was very loud until midnight. Not the resort’s fault… but we couldn’t sleep that night

I don't normally write reviews, but I had to sing the praises of Thantara and the staff. Our two night anniversary stay was made extra special, and the staff went above and beyond in all aspects. One night at dinner, I wasn't feeling well, and they packed up our evening meal and drove us back to the room. They also left a get well soon snack and water outside our door. This care and consideration was shown again the next morning when they were enquiring how I was at breakfast. The room and facilities were amazing. Using the bikes to cycle around the grounds was lovely. We rented the scooter with sidecar but didn't actually realise how small and slow it was, so I wouldn't recommend it if you wanted to explore the grounds. All in all a fantastic stay at thantara and we hope to return one day.

It was a very relaxing experience comparing to downtown Chiang Mai. Thantara Resort was a perfect vacation for our family to get away from urban stress.

There was a party in the village near by one night and the music was very loud until midnight. Not the resort’s fault… but we couldn’t sleep that night

The breakfast that comes with the booking was just okay, but the floating breakfast that needed to be ordered from the concierge was really good.

the location was a bit too far from downtown, the breakfast could be better

The private pool. Excellent breakfast. I liked that it was away from the town. Very relaxing

The hotel was overpriced for the weekend of the lanterns festival and breakfast expensive

    9MuqbilPosted on: 11-4-2024

The whole place was quiet, clean , and a great atmosphere, place for relaxing

The insect was everywhere, but this was noticeable outside

The environment and ambiance were marvelous! The bungalows were nestled in the middle of rice fields and many natural features. The pools and restaurants were impeccably maintained.

Everything was excellent from the hotel side.

The scenery is outstanding The villa is spacious with decent pool & amazing view Very beautiful and big resort Very fast , attentive and efficient service from all the staff All workers in the resort was so polite and friendly Free bikes was a bonus

I really enjoyed my stay but I am obligated to mention few points for both my fellow travellers and resort management to improve Far from the old city and the prices in the resort are much higher than those outside including spa, transportation, activities Any small disarrangement in the villa will be considered as damage and you will be charged plenty of money. For example cleaning fee for our sofa was considered a damage & we were charged 3500 Bat for that so be aware When we called telling the reception that we are ready for check out, staff showed up in our villa without even knocking the door with meticulous check in front of us which we considered a rude and disrespectful behaviour

The private villas were really amazing! Probably one of the best accommodations that we ever had in Thailand (and we stayed in many hotels). The bathroom with the bathtub was just stunning and so was the view on the pool and the river! It was really wow! Spacious, clean, comfortable, luxurious. It could not have been better. All the receptionist were very professional and friendly, so was the gate man.The location of the hotel was of course not in the city centre, in the area is not much, many people rated it as bad, however we find it positive - it's away from the stress and this beautiful lake/river would otherwise not be possible. But of course we had rented car, therefore it was not a problem for us.

There was some space for improvement. Especially for breakfast. For a 5* hotel it was really disappointing. We were not really sure how fresh the things are, or if it was all just re-warmed from the previous days. Once we took puff pastry with blueberry jam inside, it tasted very dry, therefore I decided to open it and eat only the bottom part where the jam was - surprisingly there was lots of fungus inside. It had to be really old, because this doesn't grow in 1-2 days. I will not pretend, that at our home we never had fungus on groceries, but at 5* hotel it shouldn't happen and the foods should not be rewarmed. If they don't have enough customers to prepare everything fresh, then they should not offer buffet breakfast, but rather a la carte with smaller choice and better quality. The jams and juices and mueslis were also poorer quality. The warm foods were not presented nicely, but in cheap boxes and hams and cheese were presented nicely, however not covered and the flies were sitting on it. Once we ordered 2x egg Benedict, but it didn't come. Then we asked if they forgot and they prepared it, but brought just 1. The egg Benedict was always cold.On the internet they have written that they offer rice planting activity, we waited that they find it out for us however the reception did not call us back. They also had other activities like umbrella painting, also interesting, but probably also not possible - it would be nice if they promoted and offered those activities, people would surely book it.The room was cleaned quite well, but the private pool would need some cleaning. There was moss growing and some sand and pieces were in the water.

Beautiful rooms, fantastic beds, perfect place for a relaxing time.

It is far-ish from the center but there are actually several good restaurants in the immediate area, and it's easy to get grab food delivery or a grab car anywhere. Room service/mini bar food and drink were mediocre and pricey but we didn't mind since the room was such a good value, we were willing to pay for extra convenience.

Excellent resort about 20/25 mins from the center of Chiang Mai. The rooms are very nice, with high ceilings and super comfy beds. My 3 yr old thoroughly enjoyed private plunge pool overlooking the paddy fields. Some of the reviews commented on the limited selection at breakfast - we thought it was excellent and more than sufficient.

Others have commented on this - this resort is about 20-25 mins from Nimman in Chiang Mai. We didnt mind it, but if you want to make multiple visits to Chiang Mai it can be an issue.
